so glad Suunto finally designed a dive computer + sports watch combo💙and for a much more reasonable price!

Yes, the pricepoint is much better and the same as the D5, which seems like the better value added here.

Yes, we're still working on it. We're testing it over the next few days, and will be shooting the video straight after.

I think it’s quite heavy for an outdoor and especially running model ( 100g vs less than 50g or even 40g for garmin or coros models) so will not replace a proper running watch when you are seeking performance ( and I guess same for diving) so maybe more a kind of in between device
    Thanks for the review !

That's great feedback. I've only used the Garmin Mk2/3's plus the Apple Ultra, and these are both heavier.

In the release firmware a) the underwater compass has not been implemented and b) beware of entering dive mode (e.g. to look at your new pretty toy’s capabilities) … I’ve not found any way to end the dive by using the buttons (nor is it documented). I had to change the start depth to 30cm and fill the bath to fake doing a dive + ascent to trigger the dive end countdown. Feels like it was released prematurely.

Okay, that's a really bad start for a new product. Thanks for sharing!

I used d4i for 10years and now just used suunto ocean. However, it is frustrating that suunto ocean does not have several critical functions.
    1. No bookmark during dive mode.
    2. no personal conservatism. While d4i has 0, +1, +2
    3. no deepstop. While d4i counts 60 seconds for deepstop.

      Hi there,
1 - what do you want to bookmark?
Yes, but as the Ocean is using the Bühlmann 16-c with Gradient Factors - it's a different way of doing both your conservatism and Deepstops.
I'd recommend you look intro Gradient Factors before changing it, but it's possible.

@@DIVEindotcom bookmark time and depth. Sometimes its useful to bookmark to remember when you see a huge creature. It shows on your log when and how deep it was when you saw it.
new bülhman algorithm is good. But I always loved suunto for its personal factor to choose 'more' conservatism and deepstop. I dont want to change its default GF which is 40/85. I admit that deepstop could be just helpful for my mentality when Im underwater.
I really wish they put those functions back in next firmware.

Hey, I'm interested in buying a suunto ocean or an Apple Watch ultra 2 for gym, running, swimming and from time to time for diving, which of these two models do you recommend?

I haven’t owned the Suunto Ocean but I have owned the Apple Watch Ultra and the Garmin decent mk3i. I will say the Apple Watch Ultra wasn’t very good in my opinion. Battery life sucks and lack of more buttons like the garmin really sucks also. I know the garmin is more expensive but it’s way better. You could also look at the new garmin fenix 8. It’s has almost all the same functions as the mk3i and will be far better then the Apple Watch and probably the suunto

Does any one has used it and can give an actual feedback ? Is it better to the Garmin Mk3i or at least comparable ? I am diving at maximum 60m OCR and have an EON core today some I am hesitant to move to garmin or to the Ocean to stay in the Suunto world… Also I am quite interested by the fact it can tell your dive route, is that working well? Is it working underwater as a kind of “GPS” ? Thanks a lot 😅

It definitely can’t compete with the Garmin Mk3i. The Mk3i is a full tech diving watch and has a better transmitter also. I own the Mk3i and I love it.

Let us know what you think about the new Suunto Ocean.

Garmin is trying too hard to serve several sports instead of putting a clear focus. For 900 bucks this is not good enough, gonna stick to Shearwater.
