I think this starts with a lack of boundaries. I was amazed with how many of my coworkers who would friend their students on social media or give them their personal numbers. That’s how it starts. I always had boundaries even after my students graduated.
I had a young chemistry teacher that all of the boys liked. She had to talk to the class about how she can't message them on social media because I guess they would try to add her and talk to her. That's how you think an adult would want to handle that situation.

I have 2 things to say about this and what I’ve noticed 1) there have been a LOT of female teachers assaulting these students And 2) I notice a lot of teacher, principals/staff use bad grammar (in the guise of connecting with the kids), want to implement raps and these dances to “relate” to the kid. I notice that all this “relating” to the students and bonding with students is blurring the line between teacher and student. It’s like a parent who wants to be friends with their kid. This is what happens. She has made the students her peers instead of the staff and other adults. She was getting attention from students that she was attracted to and did not shut it down. She encouraged it, and once that boundary has been crossed with someone who craves attention, it was hard for her to stop it. She justified it in her mind and convinced herself that it was not wrong, and it was probably exciting for her. She lost her way.
I experienced this a child by my teacher , he befriended me on social media after I left the school moved to Mexico and tried to have a real relationship with me , I was 14 at the time he pursed me for years in silence but expressed himself about his feelings after I left the school 😢

As a former teacher/student: 1. I've heard conversations from my classmates about taking interest in teachers. This is NOT uncommon as many students lack a father/mother figure and are looking for love and attention! Many other reasons as well. 2. As a former high school teacher I EXPECTED the students to "fall" in love (their immature version) because i had seen it as a student before and because i was teaching many students who came from broken homes. Did i play with their hearts by making myself available to their constant seeking of my attention! Absolutely NOT!!!!!! 3. Student WILL be inappropriate with teachers. It's a given, but in the end of the day i am the adult that needs to constantly put forth a boundary. I would find really awful sexual notes and reported it to the principal. I did all i could to cover myself and what's more I set mental and physical boundaries! I did not engage in inappropriate conversations and i did not allow them to brew. I also never ever allowed a student near my desk, to stand over me while showing them something on the computer, or to be with me alone in the classroom. 4. How I referred to my students was another way of creating that appropriate boundary. Did i laugh with my students? Oh boy did we laugh and have fun, but in a clean appropriate way. I called my students children. My children. Yes, they were in high school, but they needed to know how i viewed them. I also knew their names, of course, but calling them children was perfect in teaching them their role in the relationship. 5. Teachers have to go to way too many trainings! I mean more than half of the trainings i went to I didn't even apply! Just being honest! Why is there no training on pointing out that pedophile teacher? I mean we had human trafficking training, but what about that creepy teacher! All in all Let's not be ignorant about these situations that seem to be increasing! It's like Duh! Students will take interest in the teacher especially if the teacher is handsome or beautiful. But, YOU teacher are the adult! Act like one! (Oh and i had a student ask me out before and i let him have it, in a nice way!)

This is what happens. She has made the students her peers instead of the staff and other adults. She was getting attention from students that she was attracted to and did not shut it down. She encouraged it, and once that boundary has been crossed with someone who craves attention, it was hard for her to stop it. She justified it in her mind and convinced herself that it was not wrong, and it was probably exciting for her. She lost her way.
I experienced this a child by my teacher , he befriended me on social media after I left the school moved to Mexico and tried to have a real relationship with me , I was 14 at the time he pursed me for years in silence but expressed himself about his feelings after I left the school 😢

Our casual adult thoughts & behaviors should never intersect those of a minor. This is crazy this type of behavior is still going on. Why isn't it standard that a teacher can only communicate with a student after class, school, etc. only in the presence of parent/guardian?
As a former teacher/student:
1. I've heard conversations from my classmates about taking interest in teachers. This is NOT uncommon as many students lack a father/mother figure and are looking for love and attention! Many other reasons as well.
2. As a former high school teacher I EXPECTED the students to "fall" in love (their immature version) because i had seen it as a student before and because i was teaching many students who came from broken homes. Did i play with their hearts by making myself available to their constant seeking of my attention! Absolutely NOT!!!!!!
3. Student WILL be inappropriate with teachers. It's a given, but in the end of the day i am the adult that needs to constantly put forth a boundary. I would find really awful sexual notes and reported it to the principal. I did all i could to cover myself and what's more I set mental and physical boundaries! I did not engage in inappropriate conversations and i did not allow them to brew. I also never ever allowed a student near my desk, to stand over me while showing them something on the computer, or to be with me alone in the classroom.
4. How I referred to my students was another way of creating that appropriate boundary. Did i laugh with my students? Oh boy did we laugh and have fun, but in a clean appropriate way. I called my students children. My children. Yes, they were in high school, but they needed to know how i viewed them. I also knew their names, of course, but calling them children was perfect in teaching them their role in the relationship.
5. Teachers have to go to way too many trainings! I mean more than half of the trainings i went to I didn't even apply! Just being honest! Why is there no training on pointing out that pedophile teacher? I mean we had human trafficking training, but what about that creepy teacher!
All in all Let's not be ignorant about these situations that seem to be increasing! It's like Duh! Students will take interest in the teacher especially if the teacher is handsome or beautiful. But, YOU teacher are the adult! Act like one!
(Oh and i had a student ask me out before and i let him have it, in a nice way!)
These Courts need to start getting serious when these people are arrested. If she had feared the law she probably would not have done what she did.. CHILDREN need to stay in their place. And adults need to draw boundaries between adult and child. Another silent (but also loud) killer is SOCIAL MEDIA. I believe social media is affecting society negatively in soooo many ways. Adults need to act like adults and stop trying to stoop to a child’s level

This all began when older instructors were forced out the education system (‘04 or ‘05) , and installed the new instructors without guidance, and here we are 🧐🙄
