Nature Deficit Disorder: what is it?

The journalist and advocate for children in the natural world, Richard Louv, guides us through the consequences of maintaining children sedentary within closed school and domestic environments. Deprived of contact with nature and it’s innate benefits for physical and psychological health children can present with symptoms that he calls Nature Deficit Disorder.

This video made me almost tear up. Learning so much online now I've become so much more aware that it isn't an efficient learning style - it's an efficient teaching style, but not an efficient learning style. And that's so frustrating for us students. Especially learning about nature, wildlife, and the environment from sitting in front of a computer. It's too much. As a student, I don't know how to get out of it. But I am definitely going to read his book and do my best for myself and my future children.
