Very good information in this video. The heat tape sure is a nice option for that use, excellent. I have never seen such a product and will get some just to have it available. This was a really good series of videos on the winterizing process. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving holiday, we sure did have a good one. The weather around East Tennessee was perfect.
I hadn't heard of it either. This is my first time using it. I hope it works out the reviews sound like it works great. There is info on how it works that's interesting. Thanksgiving was great! I'm glad yours was good as well.
Heat trace is a must. I've only seen 3 and 5 watts per foot. 3 / 120 = .025 amps per foot. Not expensive to run. Watch the kits from supply houses. The wire is really stiff and will break right beside the built-in thermostat.
New subscriber here. We live in north Texas and I have used a heat lamp with a temperature regulated power strip. I am looking at more elegant ways to keep my pump house warm (not-freeze). My shed/pump-house is 10’x10’ and I have styrofoam for an insulated box. I am considering using a small plexiglass window to see the well pump and water conditioner. I am also needing to provide access for maintenance and adding salt to the water softener. Your box looks like it would do well. How did it perform last winter? All the best from north Texas!
It worked great. I have my bladder tank in a small shed and I built a box around it and heat just that box. Works well and cuts down on the amount of electricity needed. My pumps not in there so I don't have to ventilate it. Good luck with yours!
@@SoatMon I do plan on making a box around the “at risk” water pipes. The pump house is 10’ x 10’ with pressure tank, and water softener. The pump is at 75’ down and submersible. I had to replace it after first 20 years and had to cut a hole in roof to pull it out. Am thinking of putting a hinged skylight or roof vent in the next time I have to replace it. Thanks again for your reply. All the best!
