It's all gone mad since the end of last season. Forty million for Kilman, how did that happen? An aging squad, a team that doesn't gel together and a manager that hasn't a clue. Stel, you are a hero going to all these games, I struggle to go to all the home games alone any away games.
I guess one transfer window was never going to fix the issues we had in the squad but at least we were hoping for better performances than we’ve seen so far
Thank you, Stel. How people can blame Areola is strange. Most of the goals are deflected or one on one. They quickly forget the game-saving plays he makes every game!
He's a good shot stopper for high reflex shots , but awful at low shots (even soft ones) where he's got to dive with an outstretched arm . His judgement of crosses is not as good as Fab while I think his distribution is better (but was terrible today).
Yes a better performance -albeit against a far poorer Man City compared to the side that beat us at the LS . I really hope Somerville gets a run in the side now -he will lift the crowd at our place which is just what we need .
Summerville needs to start EVERY game Stel, no matter who is or isn't available. Areola should definitely be first choice, people seem to forget what he did a couple of seasons ago. The defence in front are leaving him exposed an awful lot. Fabianski has done ok but he's 40 in a few months and not the future.
Agree 100% on what you said mate Summerville provides an outlet and Areola needs to be allowed to regain his confidence and he won’t do that on the bench
@@WESTHAMVOICE and why do you think that is so?? Was he this greedy as you say last season?? Tell me, or did he start this season?? And if he started his season why?? And if he was already doing it last season why didn't you speak about it?? Why are you all of a sudden doing so now??
Great report Stel.👍🏾 Totally agree with your criticism of Paqueta. The amount of possession we lose through him is indefensible, and because of his position on the pitch his failings invariable put us under intense pressure. I wish he'd just play it simple when simple will do.
I’ve been told I’m wrong about Paqueta Not sure I am and for the same reason you’ve stated … lose the ball in midfield and we are immediately under pressure But he wasn’t the only one who lost the ball in midfield on Saturday
Love your balanced view Stel, and respect for travelling to the game. I agree and thought we gave it a go in the first half, Summerville was on it and on another day Soucek scores from Kudus' cutback and it might have been a different result. We must keep that attacking intent for the remainder of the season, regardless of who's in charge.
I had always backed Lopetegui and never gave him stick like never singing sacked in the morning but I think now this team can not change, the players and fans already have idea of lopetegui and that won’t change. Therefore after looking at some options I would try to get in John Heitinga, the number 2 at Liverpool, he’s already been westham before under Moyes and is obviously a genius to be able to be Arne Slots second hand man
Thanks Stel. If one of those early chances had gone in, it could have been a different story. We played with a bit more pace and intensity, particularly in the 1st half. Also Fulkrug took his goal well and seems to be getting back up to speed. The defence became a liability, and as you mentioned, Todibo going off, made it unravel a bit. Still there are signs we're improving a bit.
Your very brave travelling up to Manchester in this cold weather. Yes agree we played better in the first half but still no sign of challenging a poor Man City team. I cant see the team improving with new signings because our Manager dose not have a clue.
Don’t know if Man City are a poor team.. with the attacking players they have they’re still a force. But agree we can’t seem to be a match for them even when they’re not at their best
Thanks Stel. I’ve only seen highlights and your analysis. On MOTD Danny Murphy analysis of Newcastle v Spuds was informative for us. Newcastle midfield 3 were 1st 2nd 3rd in yards, with those legs/effort protection of defence and attacking aggression are one of the things we lack. Summerville is great going forward and assists the man behind too. Kudus can’t pass is gready and didn’t help Coufal at all. I’d happily say goodbye to all our midfield and get a great left back. We need to start finishing our chances and put in some hard yards. ⚒
Our midfield has been woeful this season which puts too much pressure on our defence which isn’t the best either Kudus is not a team player and Summerville is proving just how good a player he is
The truth Stel is there are 18 teams that fancy themselves against City at the moment. We all knew that they would beat us today and we would ship 3, 4 or 5 goals. NOTHING is changing except Sullivan sitting on his hands. Villa will destroy us and end another cup dream for me. Great video mate.
We had a few dodgy individual performances which you can’t have in this league but the majority of players have given more hope after the game than before , have a safe journey home Stel
You didn't deserve that scoreline, Stel, thought WH looked decent in patches. Summerville was showing similar form to how he was at Leeds, he's so fun to watch when he goes central, Man City's midfield struggled with him. I predict he'll bang a few in in the next few matches, confidence brings composure.
We did over pay for Kilman but the midfield is a problem puts way to much pressure on the defence, with the amount of times we get beat there makes the defence out of position
Thank you Stel. A bitterly cold day. I expected for WH to at least get a draw and pose City problem as they are 50% of what they were 4 games into the season. But a STRUGGLING City knocked 4 past us. Yes we had opportunities to score but that's norm for us. City's defensive teams transition has been extremely poor but we could not take advantage. I heard our performance was improved but is the narrative actually "poor City"!
I agree 100% with you , we have a good game, the difference is they got there chances and we didn't in the second goal coufal should make a foul and the player
I agree with your comments two unfortunate goals but I felt we played decently and felt fullkrug was very good considering the lack of service. Kudus can go imo
Kudus doesn’t seem to be playing for the team but then I look at other players and feel much the same when I see the likes of Alvarez ducking out of challenges
Only managed to see the highlights on MotD catchup, and a telling comment from Micah Richards was “from a better side”, our 44% procession was a surprise and your analysis is positive, but this doesn’t change the real issues. Reports say Emerson is going back to Italy, so whatever ‘ins & outs’ we see in this window, either a miracle needs to happen or we wait for the inevitable, with Moyes spotted sitting in the crowd is ominous.
We did play well ironically but we lack concentration and our finishing is woeful Forget the rubbish about Emerson unless we have a left back lined up to replace him He was injured yesterday
@ could the finishing be caused by the individual nature of the attacks rather than what was seen in the early part of the season where, Bowen for instance, would look up before deciding to have a go and it was too late? I saw a couple of the Kudus attempts which looked that way. Now Füllkrug is getting game time, could that improve as he gets fitter, his goal was well taken.
Morning Stel Mixed emotions from me tbh - it was my daughters 1st away game Whilst I agree we played “better” the reality is City didn’t really have to get out of 2nd gear 2-0 at HT flattered them - if we could finish it could easily have been 2-0 to us Alvarez turning his back for the first goal was a shocker & once they scored there was only going to be 1 winner Coufal isn’t Premier League level & him & Mavrapanos together on that side is a disaster - losing Todibo was massive Summerville needs to be first choice, Paqueta was better, but not brilliant, Soucek was a bystander again, Areola goes down way too early. It was freezing cold, the trams broke down, got lost walking to Piccadilly after the game, my local McDonalds run out of milkshakes for our post travel meal. And my ankles feel like I’ve walked 1000 miles - can’t wait for the next one COYFI⚒️
Ah mate even in defeat I hope your daughter loved the experience I agree 2-0 flattered Man City… as you say if we had taken our chances who knows how it could have ended Some of our players actions leave a lot to be desired… Alvarez turning his back on their goal was ridiculous We were on the tram that broke down too and we missed the first few minutes of the game The walk back to centre was not pleasant
From an analytical point of view, it's always better to see things from the cold light of the day and without the emotional element attached. Though it doesn't make things any sweeter! I've said before there are signs that we are trying to play footie in the right way but we are sadly lacking in quality at those right moments and in the most important parts of the field. If we could just quicken up the movements into and around the oppositions box, then things would improve greatly. It would also help the 'deliverers' to make the right decisions. COYI!
@@StevetheWeave. good points mate I agree, our football was better against Man City but it’s the finishing that we lack… a little more composure might have seen us get a result against them at the weekend
Summerville was mustard today and although we played better than expected we are still leaking like a sieve. Midfield is a big problem that cannot be fixed without better players. Alvarez looked slow and clumsy on the ball and I fear has become another expensive dud where we'll make a huge loss if and when we sell him.
Agree on Summerville and Alvarez mate We need solid reinforcements in midfield which is why I don’t think we will be going for another attacking midfielder in this window
Man City were there for the taking, but we didn't take our chances. We played well.but the result is the result. Fulllrug took his goal well, Stieden takes flack for buying him but it was not his fault that he got injured. Todibo played well, another Stieden signing. I'm sure the young Brazilian will come good too. Liverpool and Arsenal want Stieden for a reason Kudus was poor and the two Czech lads the rest played well. Paqueta had a couple of half chances. Soucek should of at least got it on target. Summerville needs to start week in week out
I truly hope the steidten signings come good as it will bode well for West Ham I’m not so sure either Liverpool or Arsenal want Steidten but we will see
Hats off to you Stelios for going to away games. Good fair round-up as ever thanks. Cannot understand people saying this was a poor Man City team - yes, defensively they are a bit shaky but their front line will run riot over anyone - Haaland, Savinho, Foden, Silva, Gundohan with De Bruyne fit again etc etc. We suffered from lack of finishing with so many scoring chances missed ( and a lack of Bowen! ), but at least we went at them. Our defence is shocking though and needs attention - equal on GD with Ipswich now on -15 ( a bottom 3 club ). Injury situation doesn't help too. On a high note so pleased for Fullkrug for getting a great goal.
With a frontline like Man City’s I agree they’re no weak upfront and have the quality to produce productive attacking performances Having said that, our defence is shocking mate
Stel - spot on with your analysis of the game, but why does J-Lo constantly play out of form players, that puts us at a disadvantage from the start. We have squad players who only get less than a 15 minute cameo which gives them very little time to see what they can do. Nothing will change until we are relieved of this level of incompetence🙈.
Cheers Paul I don’t know mate.. maybe Lopetegui feels limited in who he can use in various positions Would have been nice to see scarles start on the left with wan bissaka on the right but maybe Lopetegui might have thought that to be too high a risk against a side like Man City.. but would we have lost by more goals if Lopetegui did that?
I do love kudus but recently he always does too much and doesn’t pass enough, playing for himself not the team. Wouldn’t mind seeing him go and use the money to buy much needed players! But always love hearing your point of view stel.
When ever Summerville has played he looked a threat most people said he should be starting but for some reason Loppy can't see it and plays kudos on left which definitely not his position
If players aren’t starting or getting on the field for a reasonable amount of minutes how can they be match fit? e.g. Coufal is a warrior at the end of his shelf life, plus how can he be up to speed as he has been on the bench.
Genuinely think we need a full new rebuild. Left back, centre back, defensive midfield, centre midfield. Maybe even goalie too. What the hell is going on?
I hope Scarles gets some more minutes and can prove himself. Hope Potts can come back and do it as well. Need someone like Rocco Reitz or Shea Charles in that centre mid in January. Centre back and goalie in the summer.
Kudus didn’t put his chances away mate To be honest he looked better than he has most of the season He got several chances he just needed to be more composed
I think the fact that (compared to the Liverpool game) we had more possession in their half, more corners, more goal chances (albeit squandered) and actually managed to string a few passes together was more to do with them not being that good and less to do with us having improved our form, tactics or starting eleven. I hope I'm wrong. Summerville was good, Paqueta was careless and ineffectual but not as crap as usual, everyone else was average, especially Fullkrug...
I went straight from the game, and looked for your summary video, and when it wasn’t up quickly I just knew you were going for a metaphorical “walk around the garden” before you commented. A good summary. Sadly our over spend (Kilman, Füllkrug) on certain players is starting to show, imho we literally only slightly better as a squad than the bottom three. As I said to you some weeks back Avram season “too good to go down, yea right …. Down we went”. Who’s to say we don’t get dragged into a massive relegation battle. Even United are using the word “relegation”
I really did want to do a video straight after but in a way glad I took my time over it Yep our summer spend looks to be a shambles right now with the money spent on some players I can’t make myself think about relegation right now but if we’re not picking up points in January and still playing the way we have been then I’d start worrying from February onwards
I didn’t think fulkrug was amazing but he wasn’t bad in my opinion did what a striker needs to do and wins the ball in the air quite a lot and if kudus passed I think he could of had a few!
Just want paqueta gone for me he's been making to many mistakes and gives the ball away to often in silly places like just in front of a bad defence and it's cost us. He's not the player we all think he is.
Fulkrug is exactly the type of player we need, were bbeing connected to a fulkrug clone in Evan Ferguson same type of player,he's hardly played i saw some lovely link up play even a clever back heel that released Kudus who wasted a chance and could have passed,he's got two goals and an assist in how many minutes we can't play the same way as Antonio and fulkrug he's got more goals than Antonio who played most of the season,we have to adapt to the type of striker we have not same as we did and wasted the talent of haller and schammaca and fulkrug is not as slow as people make out
I don’t normally disagree with you Stel but Areola was partly responsible for that goal. He went for a stroll. He made a couple of brilliant saves. I don’t think Areola should be dropped
I’ve had a chance to look at that goal again mate You’re right he did move to the right and found himself out of position Having said that I still don’t think he would have got to the ball Why was haaland completely unmarked ?
I don't think we're going down. May as well keep Loppy until May, then review the managerial landscape. Don't bother spending any money in Jan. Save it for the summer.
Hi Stel, Thanks for the vid. Historically I've always looked for the silver lining. Can't see it mate, was a better performance but will it now be consistant? Ipswich, game in hand, same gd and only 7points between us. Relegation is very much a possibility. ⚒️
If we play the way we did against Man City then we should be fine but against lower teams We need to shore up our defence and fast Genuinely don’t think we will face relegation
Our defence was poor again only surprise was that managed to score a goal this is not the Man City of old but still put 4 passed us loppy has had more lives than a cat if he doesn't get sacked
Let’s get the important stuff out of the way first that’s a pretty fancy coat lol, we started well but our players are not clinical, Coufal has no pace and is obviously past it unlucky with the deflection, Kilman marked Harland right though the second goal until it mattered at which point he totally switched off, we lack self belief as a team although I believe with a more inspiring coach could yet turn our fortunes around…
Thank god I still have that coat mate - I needed it Coufal regrettably is no longer a premier league footballer and I do question whether Kilman is a £40m Defender
Kudus needs a coach that will grab hold of & nurture him. Right now, whilst incredibly skilful, he makes so many bad decisions leading to possession loss. A good coach would teach him when & how to release the ball. He could be a world class player, but he's a long way from that now.
@@Bra_wroboht please don’t start with nonsense of protecting kudus again I’ve been honest in my review and have called out several players who haven’t performed Let’s not forget kudus played on the right today … which is a position he’s played for every team he’s been at … so it’s not an alien position for him… he had several great chances which unfortunately he didn’t score from … he also had opportunities to pass to players who were in better positions … and one or the balls he gave away led to a goal Watch the whole game in context as I do and not just with your kudus tinted glasses on
First goal was alverez’s fault ducted the header before it got passed out to winger to shoot! Third n fourth goals where a mixture of kudos poor pass n mav n Kilman poor positioning! Pac-Man had a much better game probably his best this season, but still falls over on soft tackles! The only real player to come out looking ok is Summerville
Stelios, Another measured and eloquent report. Unfortunate for the first goal as that prolific goalscorer "Rick O'Shea" popped up to score the deflection of Coufal. With Bowen out, the front three of Summerville, Füllkrug and Kudus should be given a run of half-a-dozen games. I know you don't like Füllkrug, but he resembles Gerd Müller, the old "fox in the box" but you have to hit him with the ball. As you stated, Kilman was well over priced, and his main job against City was to put Haaland in his back pocket, not to give him the freedom he enjoyed.
If fullkrug starts scoring regularly then that’s all I can ask of him… we do create chances but as you say we’re not putting them away Kilman .. hmm… I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he doesn’t have a regular partner … it’s been chop and change between dinos and Todibo all season But haaland was too strong for him
@@WESTHAMVOICE Stelios, For another match on the bounce, we could have gone one-up if Kudus had elected to hit Füllkrug with a hard-weighted pass, rather than to shoot himself but only into the side netting. I think you're being lenient with Kilman. He's 27, and should be showing attributes to earn himself a call-up for the England squad. Sadly, he's well off doing this.
The problem is we are shipping goals for fun stel, it was a better performance but we still got battered, we are consistently letting 3 or more goals in and we simply can’t go on like this mate, I’m not angry anymore I just expect us to get thrashed each game and I think oh well the owners will take no action to sort this utter mess out. If we get relegated it will all be on the owners (sulli) and they will deserve all that comes from that disaster.
Lopetegui came in with a reputation of being a better defensive manager. He’s clearly not show that to be the case The number of goals we are letting in worries me too and we’re on course for a worse defensive record than last season
We are poor and need to make a change before it’s too late. I think relegation is unlikely but just watched Ipswich vs Fulham and I am starting to think the only team that we can beat right now is Southampton (and we even struggled to beat them recently). Add all the injuries into the mix and it’s not a good situation….
yo Stel we go on the pitch aa a team under the direction of the manager we win or lose aa a team . I got 9/1 on us winning yesterday This managers inability to change things is ridiculous look how Brentford destroyed Southampton yesterday. This City side is tye worst in years we are a poor team lucky we have shit teams below us . Don't want Moyse back Coyi
@@markst.george4913 I don't think he was at fault, he certainly didn't help but it was clearly schoolboy errors from those supposed to be protecting him.
Any Dawson like players mooching around in the championship Stel? Loppy’s judgement on sending JWP out on loan and selling Downes has come back and bit him on the bum. Loppy is a complete failure from day one. No tactics, no energy and no defence and of course very little discipline by the team or the crappy coach. Another booking he picked up today.
Surely there are better youth players than Coufal? Can’t be any worse? 3 players guaranteed to drop Clangers in a game, Coufal, Mavropanos, and Fab. The opposition are a goal up when these guys are playing. Mavropanos actually played well at right back. Paqueta , Alvarez, Soucek, all too slow. Fullkrig can finish, when given service.Reminds me of Big Dave Swindlehurst. I still think Moyes mismanaged the squad by expensive signing, letting players leave on the cheap and not introducing the Academy players. Loopy is taking a lot of stick for Moyes. The current team is about 50% to being a good team. Unfortunately it’s work in progress for this season. Rome wasn’t built in a day😁
I agree I think some of the academy players could be no worse than some of the ageing players Maybe we might see one or two in the cup on Friday Also agree that Moyes left the squad in a state which will take more than one window to fix
Stel our Midfield is the problem no legs so slow . No link to attack . No protection for our defence . Striker young and with pace needed . Coufal upgrade for injuries not dealt with . No surprise he was targeted and skinned . Yes we should have took our chances but I don’t see 4-1 as an improvement. Sorry I’m just so drained and deflated with everything at the moment .
Let's be honest. Man City were not good and they still thumped us. Change is still needed and needed now, but I know that the poisoned dwarf will keep him. What a waste of a season.
@@WESTHAMVOICE morning, well from what i saw of haaland he wasn't that impressive. Imho he didn't do anything special. His 2 goals ok ,just goes to show you can do sod all during the game and still score 2
I like the way you are trying to put a positive opinion on the game … but … this not the Man City of the 4 previous seasons … they are average this season and you can see they lack confidence … Areola was at fault for there 2nd goal he made it simple for Haaland (regardless how good the cross was) … Defence is terrible and as for Kudus … take the £80M and get in 2 or 3 decent players … this is a relegation team at present
I did say that Man City aren’t the team they were to be honest mate I’ll have another look at their second goal but to be honest, for me, it’s Coufal that just wasn’t good enough to stop savinho from crossing the ball, and the central defenders not marking properly. I don’t think any keeper would have been able to stop that going in. You don’t leave a top striker unmarked in the 6 yard box As for kudus I kind of agree ..take the money and reinvest in the squad
Sorry only disagreement with you Stel is regarding Paqueta mate.It does appear Paqueta is the target for all to launch their ire at.People need to reign in their angst towards him, whilst allowing several other players get out of jail cards.I slated him against Liverpool and imo rightly so.Versus Man City we saw a much better Paqueta but still people keep digging him out.Id sell him because I’m getting sick of the slagging off he gets.Whilst the likes of Coufal,Soucek,Alvarez,Rodriguez,Emerson,Mavropanos and let’s say Ings appear to get sympathy passes for their performances. Also Kudus has been far from the player of last season,as for the FA and Paqueta they’ve allowed this to drag on and it’s tainting the club,Paqueta and the squad.Lopetegui must go he can’t and won’t get a tune out of these players.Moyes back in the stands, like a wasp around a barbecue,we just can’t get rid of him ,Brady still shines a light for him,and was probably invited up to the game by her. This window I wouldn’t give Lopetegui a penny, but if we don’t we are in trouble, players dropping like flies and we need reinforcements but will he use them properly.Potter in and let’s see what he can do and bring in 3 players, centre forward, attacking midfielder and a centre back plus Potts and earthy back from loan periods ads what transpires
I wish I could agree with you on Paqueta mate and although, as I said, he had a better game, the number of times he gives the ball away is criminal / and he did that again against Man City Having said that, i do agree with you regarding all other players you mentioned - apart from wan bissaka and Summerville almost every other player has been poor this season. So it’s not just on Paqueta We can’t get rid of the Brazilian whilst he has the FA charges looming over his head But if he gets away with those charges then maybe we will cash in on him In the summer
@ not seeing the game from the stadium does give me a disadvantage on Paqueta, and yes I’m a massive fan,but will dig him out as I did v Liverpool mate.He is almost as Polarising as Moyes was with the fan base,at that l point you have to get rid, even if it’s on gardening leave,I said that back in October, let him go home and we find away to play without him, that was never going to happen I get that but I think that would have been best for everyone. Summerville has had to overcome Loppy for some reason there is undoubtedly a very good player,if he gets a couple of goals his confidence will go through the roof.Wan Bissaka has been better than decent all the other new signings are a 5 out of 10 or below based on their performances this season so far and after £150 mill spent that is unforgivable imo. Hope you got back in one piece from Manchester Stel.
Sorry Richard I can only tell you what I see If Paqueta played well i would have said so Surely you’d prefer me to give my honest opinion rather than an opinion I don’t believe in The beauty of my channel is that everyone has the right to agree or disagree and demonstrate to me why some of my opinions might be wrong

Our midfield has been woeful this season which puts too much pressure on our defence which isn’t the best either
Kudus is not a team player and Summerville is proving just how good a player he is
The truth Stel is there are 18 teams that fancy themselves against City at the moment. We all knew that they would beat us today and we would ship 3, 4 or 5 goals. NOTHING is changing except Sullivan sitting on his hands. Villa will destroy us and end another cup dream for me. Great video mate.
I would love to think we can turn our season around but I’m getting less convinced as each week goes by
nice and balance there Stel thank you hope you got home before the snow started on to the next game
Thanks daniella
Made is home as the snow was belting down
We had a few dodgy individual performances which you can’t have in this league but the majority of players have given more hope after the game than before , have a safe journey home Stel
At least we showed that we can attack we just now need to start putting away our chances
Stel once again Paqueta shows his true class when given the tools to do so.!
A matter of opinion I’d say
You didn't deserve that scoreline, Stel, thought WH looked decent in patches. Summerville was showing similar form to how he was at Leeds, he's so fun to watch when he goes central, Man City's midfield struggled with him. I predict he'll bang a few in in the next few matches, confidence brings composure.
The scoreline was flattering but when our defensive play is so poor we will get punished
I like Summerville he could save Lopetegui’s skin this season
We did over pay for Kilman but the midfield is a problem puts way to much pressure on the defence, with the amount of times we get beat there makes the defence out of position
I agree with you about our midfield mate
Makes the defenders jobs doubly hard
Hi Stel is there a way forward
I’m sure there is mate but will Lopetegui find it?
Yeah we improved only let in 4 this week.
I know it’s sounds stupid when it’s said out loud
Thank you Stel. A bitterly cold day.
I expected for WH to at least get a draw and pose City problem as they are 50% of what they were 4 games into the season. But a STRUGGLING City knocked 4 past us. Yes we had opportunities to score but that's norm for us. City's defensive teams transition has been extremely poor but we could not take advantage. I heard our performance was improved but is the narrative actually "poor City"!
They weren’t poor going forward mate but we certainly didn’t take our chances that’s for sure
@WESTHAMVOICE Yes, City was good "going fwd". Hence why I said, they only 50% of once was.
What time is the show today Stel. Have a great day mate.
@ be on around 9/9.15 mate
Have a good day too
I agree 100% with you , we have a good game, the difference is they got there chances and we didn't in the second goal coufal should make a foul and the player
We’re too easy to play against at the moment
Like you’ve suggested we don’t have that roughness about us
I agree with your comments two unfortunate goals but I felt we played decently and felt fullkrug was very good considering the lack of service.
We did play well ironically but we lack concentration and our finishing is woeful
Forget the rubbish about Emerson unless we have a left back lined up to replace him
He was injured yesterday
@ could the finishing be caused by the individual nature of the attacks rather than what was seen in the early part of the season where, Bowen for instance, would look up before deciding to have a go and it was too late? I saw a couple of the Kudus attempts which looked that way. Now Füllkrug is getting game time, could that improve as he gets fitter, his goal was well taken.
Morning Stel
Mixed emotions from me tbh - it was my daughters 1st away game
Whilst I agree we played “better” the reality is City didn’t really have to get out of 2nd gear
2-0 at HT flattered them - if we could finish it could easily have been 2-0 to us
Alvarez turning his back for the first goal was a shocker & once they scored there was only going to be 1 winner
Coufal isn’t Premier League level & him & Mavrapanos together on that side is a disaster - losing Todibo was massive
Summerville needs to be first choice, Paqueta was better, but not brilliant, Soucek was a bystander again, Areola goes down way too early.
It was freezing cold, the trams broke down, got lost walking to Piccadilly after the game, my local McDonalds run out of milkshakes for our post travel meal. And my ankles feel like I’ve walked 1000 miles - can’t wait for the next one COYFI⚒️
Ah mate even in defeat I hope your daughter loved the experience
I agree 2-0 flattered Man City… as you say if we had taken our chances who knows how it could have ended
Some of our players actions leave a lot to be desired… Alvarez turning his back on their goal was ridiculous
We were on the tram that broke down too and we missed the first few minutes of the game
The walk back to centre was not pleasant
From an analytical point of view, it's always better to see things from the cold light of the day and without the emotional element attached. Though it doesn't make things any sweeter!
I've said before there are signs that we are trying to play footie in the right way but we are sadly lacking in quality at those right moments and in the most important parts of the field.
If we could just quicken up the movements into and around the oppositions box, then things would improve greatly. It would also help the 'deliverers' to make the right decisions. COYI!
@@StevetheWeave. good points mate
I agree, our football was better against Man City but it’s the finishing that we lack… a little more composure might have seen us get a result against them at the weekend
Summerville was mustard today and although we played better than expected we are still leaking like a sieve. Midfield is a big problem that cannot be fixed without better players. Alvarez looked slow and clumsy on the ball and I fear has become another expensive dud where we'll make a huge loss if and when we sell him.
Agree on Summerville and Alvarez mate
We need solid reinforcements in midfield which is why I don’t think we will be going for another attacking midfielder in this window
Liverpool and Arsenal want Stieden for a reason
Kudus was poor and the two Czech lads the rest played well. Paqueta had a couple of half chances. Soucek should of at least got it on target. Summerville needs to start week in week out
I truly hope the steidten signings come good as it will bode well for West Ham
I’m not so sure either Liverpool or Arsenal want Steidten but we will see
Hats off to you Stelios for going to away games.
With a frontline like Man City’s I agree they’re no weak upfront and have the quality to produce productive attacking performances
Having said that, our defence is shocking mate
You're not wrong there mate - we're leaking goals at a shocking rate
Sully ain’t gonna sack Looetegui.
Nope I don’t think he will
Moyes was at the game...just saying 😮
Moyes back in⚒️
Yeah but again been told he ain’t coming back
Hopefully loppy gives academy a chance fri
His team selection will be interesting.
It wasn't really Coufals fault, rather Alvarez lack of clearing.
Yes but Coufal is not near premier league standard
I’d agree with that too
Stel - spot on with your analysis of the game, but why does J-Lo constantly play out of form players, that puts us at a disadvantage from the start. We have squad players who only get less than a 15 minute cameo which gives them very little time to see what they can do. Nothing will change until we are relieved of this level of incompetence🙈.
Cheers Paul
I don’t know mate.. maybe Lopetegui feels limited in who he can use in various positions
Would have been nice to see scarles start on the left with wan bissaka on the right but maybe Lopetegui might have thought that to be too high a risk against a side like Man City.. but would we have lost by more goals if Lopetegui did that?
I do love kudus but recently he always does too much and doesn’t pass enough, playing for himself not the team. Wouldn’t mind seeing him go and use the money to buy much needed players! But always love hearing your point of view stel.
This is the thing with kudus mate and Lopetegui has said that he needs to focus on his team play and defensive duties
Not a great side but we lost again confidence must be on the floor
I would imagine having so many goals scored against us, it certainly doesn’t help with the confidence
When ever Summerville has played he looked a threat most people said he should be starting but for some reason Loppy can't see it and plays kudos on left which definitely not his position
Summerville absolutely offered a proper outlet on the left
He should start every game
If players aren’t starting or getting on the field for a reasonable amount of minutes how can they be match fit? e.g. Coufal is a warrior at the end of his shelf life, plus how can he be up to speed as he has been on the bench.
Coufal to be honest mate is done as a premier league footballer
He’s played two games in a row now and has been found wanting in both
Genuinely think we need a full new rebuild.
We now know how bad the squad was when Moyes left
It will take more than one transfer window to rebuild it
If bowen was playing it was a different result, koudos in his position didnt work
Kudus didn’t put his chances away mate
To be honest he looked better than he has most of the season
He got several chances he just needed to be more composed
I think the fact that (compared to the Liverpool game) we had more possession in their half, more corners, more goal chances (albeit squandered) and actually managed to string a few passes together was more to do with them not being that good and less to do with us having improved our form, tactics or starting eleven. I hope I'm wrong.
Summerville was good, Paqueta was careless and ineffectual but not as crap as usual, everyone else was average, especially Fullkrug...
Their front line was certainly effective but it’s against their defence we didn’t make full use of
We simply didn’t take our chances
I went straight from the game, and looked for your summary video, and when it wasn’t up quickly I just knew you were going for a metaphorical “walk around the garden” before you commented.
A good summary.
Sadly our over spend (Kilman, Füllkrug) on certain players is starting to show, imho we literally only slightly better as a squad than the bottom three.
As I said to you some weeks back Avram season “too good to go down, yea right …. Down we went”. Who’s to say we don’t get dragged into a massive relegation battle. Even United are using the word “relegation”
I really did want to do a video straight after but in a way glad I took my time over it
Yep our summer spend looks to be a shambles right now with the money spent on some players
I can’t make myself think about relegation right now but if we’re not picking up points in January and still playing the way we have been then I’d start worrying from February onwards
@ if we are 4th or 5th bottom 1st Feb I’ll be entering miffed mode …
Ferguson is mot a British Player he’s an Irish player, that like called Mavropanos a Turkish player
Yep fair play I stand corrected … it was more my point that players from these isles usually have a premium price on them
Moyes to replace Pep, more like!
Moyes, don’t come back. West Ham fans don’t deserve you.
Been told we won’t be looking to get Moyes back
Paqueta is a liability...get rid. We will be fighting relegation at this rate...
I agree about Paqueta but other players too haven’t been great this season
Paqueta was better than usual but don’t think he was great just decent
Agreed
I didn’t think fulkrug was amazing but he wasn’t bad in my opinion did what a striker needs to do and wins the ball in the air quite a lot and if kudus passed I think he could of had a few!
Yep maybe we just need to give him more time but still not convinced he’s the player to lead our attack
Good video stel we did play better. But still going to be a long season of mid table. If we can get 85 million for paqueta get rid of him.
Can’t get rid of Paqueta whilst the FA charges are still looming mate
No one would risk buying him
Just want paqueta gone for me he's been making to many mistakes and gives the ball away to often in silly places like just in front of a bad defence and it's cost us. He's not the player we all think he is.
Fulkrug is exactly the type of player we need, were bbeing connected to a fulkrug clone in Evan Ferguson same type of player,he's hardly played i saw some lovely link up play even a clever back heel that released Kudus who wasted a chance and could have passed,he's got two goals and an assist in how many minutes we can't play the same way as Antonio and fulkrug he's got more goals than Antonio who played most of the season,we have to adapt to the type of striker we have not same as we did and wasted the talent of haller and schammaca and fulkrug is not as slow as people make out
If we play to his strengths then I hope fullkrug comes good
But for me I think we need a striker with more pace
Stel the real thing is neither Areola nor Fabianski merit starting in the the PL.
Fab is a keeper. Areola is shite.
I’d agree with you there n Richard
Not sure I’d agree with that mark
I don’t normally disagree with you Stel but Areola was partly responsible for that goal. He went for a stroll. He made a couple of brilliant saves. I don’t think Areola should be dropped
I’ve had a chance to look at that goal again mate
You’re right he did move to the right and found himself out of position
Having said that I still don’t think he would have got to the ball
Why was haaland completely unmarked ?
I don't think we're going down. May as well keep Loppy until May, then review the managerial landscape. Don't bother spending any money in Jan. Save it for the summer.
I do worry for our current squad
Would like to see a couple of players on loan if nothing else
Hi Stel,
Thanks for the vid.
Historically I've always looked for the silver lining. Can't see it mate, was a better performance but will it now be consistant?
Ipswich, game in hand, same gd and only 7points between us.
Relegation is very much a possibility. ⚒️
If we play the way we did against Man City then we should be fine but against lower teams
We need to shore up our defence and fast
Genuinely don’t think we will face relegation
@WESTHAMVOICE I agree mate, but I think some serious flirting will occur!
Get rid of paq gives it away too much
Trouble is we can’t get rid of him
WHU fans get treated to 9 goals in 2 games, ouch
Goals are fun
@@WESTHAMVOICE true, and Halaand will probably be one of the best ever PL strikers
Our defence was poor again only surprise was that managed to score a goal this is not the Man City of old but still put 4 passed us loppy has had more lives than a cat if he doesn't get sacked
Our whole defensive set up is failing us .. not just defenders but midfielders too
Stel. I thought we was going to lose a lot more
Let’s get the important stuff out of the way first that’s a pretty fancy coat lol, we started well but our players are not clinical, Coufal has no pace and is obviously past it unlucky with the deflection, Kilman marked Harland right though the second goal until it mattered at which point he totally switched off, we lack self belief as a team although I believe with a more inspiring coach could yet turn our fortunes around…
Thank god I still have that coat mate - I needed it
Coufal regrettably is no longer a premier league footballer and I do question whether Kilman is a £40m
Defender
Kudus needs a coach that will grab hold of & nurture him. Right now, whilst incredibly skilful, he makes so many bad decisions leading to possession loss. A good coach would teach him when & how to release the ball. He could be a world class player, but he's a long way from that now.
Amazing how Moyes got the best out of him last season
Kudus only lost possession 4 times and he attempted only one dribble, you want to know why kudus of all people attempted only one dribble??
@@WESTHAMVOICEbecause moyes set him up to perform
@@Bra_wroboht please don’t start with nonsense of protecting kudus again
I’ve been honest in my review and have called out several players who haven’t performed
Let’s not forget kudus played on the right today … which is a position he’s played for every team he’s been at … so it’s not an alien position for him… he had several great chances which unfortunately he didn’t score from … he also had opportunities to pass to players who were in better positions … and one or the balls he gave away led to a goal
Watch the whole game in context as I do and not just with your kudus tinted glasses on
@@WESTHAMVOICE yh, never seen a video of you calling out bowen
First goal was alverez’s fault ducted the header before it got passed out to winger to shoot! Third n fourth goals where a mixture of kudos poor pass n mav n Kilman poor positioning! Pac-Man had a much better game probably his best this season, but still falls over on soft tackles! The only real player to come out looking ok is Summerville
Agree with all that Paul
If fullkrug starts scoring regularly then that’s all I can ask of him… we do create chances but as you say we’re not putting them away
Kilman .. hmm… I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he doesn’t have a regular partner … it’s been chop and change between dinos and Todibo all season
But haaland was too strong for him
@@WESTHAMVOICE Stelios, For another match on the bounce, we could have gone one-up if Kudus had elected to hit Füllkrug with a hard-weighted pass, rather than to shoot himself but only into the side netting. I think you're being lenient with Kilman. He's 27, and should be showing attributes to earn himself a call-up for the England squad. Sadly, he's well off doing this.
@ oh mate I agree with you on Kilman … I have started to question whether he’s a £40m defender
He’s clearly not show that to be the case
The number of goals we are letting in worries me too and we’re on course for a worse defensive record than last season
We are poor and need to make a change before it’s too late. I think relegation is unlikely but just watched Ipswich vs Fulham and I am starting to think the only team that we can beat right now is Southampton (and we even struggled to beat them recently). Add all the injuries into the mix and it’s not a good situation….
Yep heard Ipswich looked good today
We really need to shore up our defence
yo Stel
we go on the pitch aa a team under the direction of the manager
we win or lose aa a team .
I got 9/1 on us winning yesterday
This managers inability to change things is ridiculous
look how Brentford destroyed Southampton yesterday.
This City side is tye worst in years
we are a poor team
lucky we have shit teams below us .
Don't want Moyse back
Coyi
Moyes ain’t coming back mate
We can’t seem to be a match for any mid table / top table team at the moment
Alvarez/Killman x 2/Kudus all at fault for the goals.
Areola at fault for three of them. He is useless.
@@markst.george4913 I don't think he was at fault, he certainly didn't help but it was clearly schoolboy errors from those supposed to be protecting him.
Can’t agree that Areola was at fault for three goals mark
THis has been our problem all season, giving the ball away in dangerous areas that end up hurting us
Any Dawson like players mooching around in the championship Stel? Loppy’s judgement on sending JWP out on loan and selling Downes has come back and bit him on the bum. Loppy is a complete failure from day one. No tactics, no energy and no defence and of course very little discipline by the team or the crappy coach. Another booking he picked up today.
It surprise me that he allowed both JWP and Downes to go
Our midfield looks a little short at the moment
@@WESTHAMVOICE i am very surprised he let both those players go. we miss JWP and DOWNES
Im disappointed stel we played a very average city side and still let in 4 goals not good enough loppy out please
I don’t think their attack is average mate but we certainly didn’t take advantage of their defensive frailties
Rome wasn’t built in a day😁
I agree I think some of the academy players could be no worse than some of the ageing players
Maybe we might see one or two in the cup on Friday
Also agree that Moyes left the squad in a state which will take more than one window to fix
I agree that our midfield is the problem mate
Kudus was awful , far too selfish.
There were times when he could have passed agreed
Let's be honest. Man City were not good and they still thumped us. Change is still needed and needed now, but I know that the poisoned dwarf will keep him. What a waste of a season.
Their front line is still formidable mate
But we didn’t take our chances against their weak defence
@@WESTHAMVOICE morning, well from what i saw of haaland he wasn't that impressive.
Imho he didn't do anything special.
His 2 goals ok ,just goes to show you can do sod all during the game and still score 2
Stel, get on da live... LOPETEGUI GONE.
And gone he is
Ferguson is Irish
He's half Irish Half English
I know I meant players from these isles
I like the way you are trying to put a positive opinion on the game … but … this not the Man City of the 4 previous seasons … they are average this season and you can see they lack confidence … Areola was at fault for there 2nd goal he made it simple for Haaland (regardless how good the cross was) … Defence is terrible and as for Kudus … take the £80M and get in 2 or 3 decent players … this is a relegation team at present
I did say that Man City aren’t the team they were to be honest mate
I’ll have another look at their second goal but to be honest, for me, it’s Coufal that just wasn’t good enough to stop savinho from crossing the ball, and the central defenders not marking properly.
I don’t think any keeper would have been able to stop that going in.
You don’t leave a top striker unmarked in the 6 yard box
As for kudus I kind of agree ..take the money and reinvest in the squad
Areola is shit. We need new keepers. No pace at the back
Regrettably Fabianski is not much better
No that's why we need 2 keepers@@WESTHAMVOICE
I wish I could agree with you on Paqueta mate and although, as I said, he had a better game, the number of times he gives the ball away is criminal / and he did that again against Man City
Having said that, i do agree with you regarding all other players you mentioned - apart from wan bissaka and Summerville almost every other player has been poor this season. So it’s not just on Paqueta
We can’t get rid of the Brazilian whilst he has the FA charges looming over his head
But if he gets away with those charges then maybe we will cash in on him
In the summer
Wank
Not in public I hope Howard 😂
Stel if you don't stop doing your rediculous Paqueta hacket job I am going to unsubscribe !
Sorry Richard I can only tell you what I see
If Paqueta played well i would have said so
Surely you’d prefer me to give my honest opinion rather than an opinion I don’t believe in
The beauty of my channel is that everyone has the right to agree or disagree and demonstrate to me why some of my opinions might be wrong
