oh and don't tell them the actual food they are eating, maybe trick them into thinking its a eatbook vs brand series or smth like that. because once you tell them, their brain will already naturally tell them that it tastes bad.
My most hated vege are also bitter gourd and broccoli. However, i have found out that those 2 vege require skilled person in picking and cooking for them to be considered nice. Unfortunately not alot of places in singapore does that. For rainer who hate bittergourd, i would recommend trying the bittergourd fish soup in hong lim market level 2. The one nearest to link bridge to chinatown point. They are able to cook it in a way that the bittergourd does not taste bitter. Another important point when cooking bittergourd omelette, you need to really slice the bittergourd thinly. My grandma will slice them to around 0.5cm each. Rub them with salt to remove the bitterness before adding them into the egg. This is the only way i can eat bittergourd. For Sew, plain broccoli is just pure evil. I would recommend trying broccoli with mushrooms or in ma la. Those sauces will be able to mask the broccoli smell well. For amanda, i’m not sure whether this tip can help since I don’t hate ginger. But preparation of ginger is very important. For example the pork ginger dish. It would taste nicer if the ginger were slices thinly as possible and stirfried till caramelised before adding the pork. This help to sweeten the ginger and remove most of the taste.
30 days??? at least Sew can have different dishes where she can incorporate the broccoli. But bitter gourd for 30 days. I know Sew doesn't like broccoli, but Rainier has the the short end of the stick. I can only think of probably 3 dishes that uses bitter gourd.
Wah... level up liao. I want to see Sew eating more fruits and veggies, but after I saw her suffering for 30 days, I guess I should just give her a break. LOL XD
I don't think ginger is a vege, it's a spice in marinates for lots of dishes and spice for rempah like butter chicken curry, Thai green curry and etc. Ginger is amazing
To Rainier: Not sure if it helps but there's some steps that we can do to make bitter gourd more palatable. If I'm not wrong you have to soak it in salt water first, then rinse the water off. I used to hate bitter gourd too but when done right, it actually tastes good! Like you said the "bitter gourd taste" will be gone :D
As someone who loves bittergourd, broccoli and ginger (for real) I'm actually feeling hungry after watching this episode! there are so many ways these ingredients can be used to prepare delicious dishes: 1. Bittergourd stir fried with garlic and salted egg and prawns/bittergourd stir fried with black beans 2. Broccoli braised with mushrooms and oyster sauce/broccoli baked with cheese/broccoli stir fried with garlic and chilli (saizeriya has a version of this which is remarkably delicious and cheap) 3. steamed fish with crispy fried ginger/sesame rice wine chicken with ginger/tang yuan in ginger broth (sigh my hunger pangs just got worse...)
Sew's GI tract must be secretly thanking her for those broccoli. They should repeat the challenge for 72 days haha 😂 Like they say, what doesn't kill you make you stronger!
Whenever I see Amanda eating the ginger on its own I cringe haha I feel ginger is to be eaten complementing other food (fish, dumplings etc) and even someone like me who needs ginger in food, I won’t really eat it on its own 🥲
Ginger is super pungent. I hate when fish porridge auntie mixes those very thin ginger slices in the congee and you can’t really pick them all out and it just makes your whole porridge taste like ginger haha.
wah then you scoop one spoon of porridge and then bite down then suddenly you whole mouth taste like the ginger... 🤢🤮 wah i cannot tahan it, still like porridge though just not a fan of the ginger.
i dont understand why sew didnt just shave off the "leaves" of the brocolli, like the little floettey/bulby things and call it brocolli, coz it still technically is bocolli and a unique way of eating it too
Yes! All of them are so sporting in this challenge! Despite hating those vegetables, they pushed through the challenge and survived! Looking forward to such challenge. Maybe doing a physical activity that they dislike for 30 days?
I love all 3, ginger, broccoli and bitter gourd. Actually, it all depends on how you prepare them to make them taste better. The looks of them as they braved through the 30 days were so fun to watch. Haha!
The part where sew air fried her broccoli and made it taste good simply shows it’s a matter of how you prepare/cook the foods that you dislike that’s important. I love vegetables and all, but if you gave me stuff like uncooked/unseasoned broccoli or bitter gourd i would still eat it, but I won’t enjoy it. TLDR; TASTE IS KING. MAKE YOUR FOODS TASTE GOOD AND YOU’LL ENJOY EATING ALMOST ANY FOOD (including veggies and fruits)
Pro tip: most vegetables taste exponentially better when oven roasted. Just toss them in a baking tray with olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika and some dried herbs (last 2 optional) and roast for 8-10min at 150-200 degrees
For bittergourd you can soak in salt water/rub with salt and squeeze out the excess moisture before you cook it. It gets rid of some bitterness to make it more palatable 😊
I used to hate bittergourd too. But a couple years ago, I accidentally tried fried bittergourd (indian cuisine) and that immediately changed my mind because those.. are freaking delish! I eventually tried getting use to the normal stir fry ones (which I hated so much) and now I can eat them without puking/retching. I can tolerate bittergourd dishes now but would avoid them if I've a choice. Still fricking love fried bittergourd though.
Pickle thin strips of bittergourd in vinegar and sugar. It will change your life (ok at least wrt bittergourd), promise. Also, mandolin bittergourd so it’s super thin, put it in an icebath and then eat it with sugar. Also great.
hi try out these dishes.. bitter gourd fried with egg or salted egg (soak the bitter gourd in water) -reduce the bitter taste broccoli - baked broccoli with cheese (add some cooking cream) ginger- you may try out some sesame chicken and ginger vinegar pork all these dishes might ease your taste buds hahaha
Broccoli Soup 🥦 Bitter gourd, slice it thinly, wash it with salt water it to lower the bitterness. - Juice it to drink for punishment/forfeit Ginger Sauce from Chicken Rice stall are the best. Buta Shogaki Don, does use ginger for the marination😍 Producer please do give them solutions. However, am watching the video to see them suffer thats all 🤣 🤦🏽🤷🏽♂️
Sew! Please notice this. Make broccoli, cheese and potato together. Boil & Mashed everything up. Super delicious! Or make the Ikea Broccoli Potatoes Patties. Super palatable too! You will love it. Trust me! You will forget about broccoli is inside the food.
You gotta prep the bitter gourd first, it’ll taste very bitter if not like salt soak properly. I used to hate bitter gourd, broccoli and ginger too, but I had a vegetarian epiphany for like 3 months and learned how to like most veggies now. I still won’t put ginger in my mouth but sometimes the tea is good (after massage) but I cook bitter gourd and broccoli for myself now. That short vegetarian phase made me really appreciate vegetables more, thanks PETA I guess, haha all those chick slaughtering made me do it.
My tactic for bitter gourd: imagine the taste of a food you REALLY LIKE while eating the bitter gourd (aka trick ur tongue into thinking it's tasting something yummy) then repeat it many times. When I was younger I imagined the flavour of lychee Sticky (the candy) and now I eat bitter gourd with no problems whatsoever lolol :D
Love the editing! But gosh let's not torture Sew anymore, how abt letting her eat her favorite dish for two weeks? Use reverse psychology instead hahaha
I at first don't like veggies including brocolli! But how I started liking it when someone pan fried /grill (put salt and pepper and cook with butter) try it, Sew! If Amanda likes century egg, can eat with pickled ginger! Or eat the ones you eat with sushi! Rainer, the Indian/punjap sometimes deep fried the bitter guard with batter! It's so crunchy and tasty! (That's the only way I like it) Watch some videos on how to make it!
I think why the ytf bittergourd has no taste cause the auntie might have presoaked it with salt for some time to get the bitterness out first then cook it so it won't so bitter.
Gingers nice tho my mum cooks ma yu ji which is damn nice with the sauce and I eat the ginger alone sometimes with the sauce so it's not an abomination to me :D
Just like Rainer, i dont really like Bittergourd because of the bitter taste, but I love broccoli and family.. Sew is a bit dramatic and should try to love veggies and fruits.. Amanda can try xiao long bao with ginger and vinegar combo.. Try to overcome this fear and it will not harm you to experiment with different methods of cooking using these ingredients..
maybe you guys should try having chefs come in and convince them that certain foods tastes good
Yes Omg I think all want to see them realize it’s not that bad after all
oh and don't tell them the actual food they are eating, maybe trick them into thinking its a eatbook vs brand series or smth like that. because once you tell them, their brain will already naturally tell them that it tastes bad.

10:36 - Editors: "Let's all be nice and not roast Siew"
Yea if not, later she become Char Siew :)
Honestly, I like Sew's parts! She's really entertaining and not shy about expressing her opinions. (She's real 😄)
My most hated vege are also bitter gourd and broccoli. However, i have found out that those 2 vege require skilled person in picking and cooking for them to be considered nice. Unfortunately not alot of places in singapore does that.

I completely agree with the bittergourd omelette point! Super delicious if cooked correctly.
eh next time invite u btr
I'd say ginger is best eaten as part of the dish rather than as a whole dish itself.
30 days??? at least Sew can have different dishes where she can incorporate the broccoli. But bitter gourd for 30 days. I know Sew doesn't like broccoli, but Rainier has the the short end of the stick. I can only think of probably 3 dishes that uses bitter gourd.
He was very bitter throughout the challenge
@@TheSmartLocal badum tsss
i mean.. bittergourd scoup out seeds then can put xiao la jiao with fish paste inside then boil wah shiok man
Omelette, YTF, stir-fried dishes, hamburger patties etc...
ua-cam.com/video/8rOwpMkpTDo/v-deo.html --> For bittergourd haters, wonder if Rainer tried this.
I eat all 3 so.... :P.
Bitter gourd have alot oso. Slice fish soup, seafood soup, bitter gourd curry, za cai fan, yong tao foo etc.
14:03 roasted broccoli is really good. I prefer roasting broccoli than steaming/boiling it.
I love brocolii so much, and I just plain steam it or boil with no seasoning either so don't blame ziying, Sew 🤣🤣🤣
broccoli with oyster sauce is bombs bro like uncle roger says msg is like salt but on crack XD
@@loldead14 yeah man. Msg is the king of flavour! UNCLE ROGER FTW

Im clapping while sew said the broccoli that she made is delicious, finally you have the right recipe
Appalause to the editors! So on point!
Wah... level up liao. I want to see Sew eating more fruits and veggies, but after I saw her suffering for 30 days, I guess I should just give her a break. LOL XD
the moment i saw the notif and sew was in i immediately clicked it HAHAHA
there’s actually a way to remove most of the bitter taste, just soak the already cut bitter gourd in sugar+water or salt+water
YES.
yesss, my favourite trio is back!!
That’s a great tip thx
THE WAY SEW SCREAMED WHEN THE BROCCOLI WAS SHOVED IN FRONT OF HER HAHAHAH
As someone who loves bittergourd, broccoli and ginger (for real) I'm actually feeling hungry after watching this episode! there are so many ways these ingredients can be used to prepare delicious dishes:

HAHAHA knew Sew would be there just by reading the title
Whenever I see Amanda eating the ginger on its own I cringe haha I feel ginger is to be eaten complementing other food (fish, dumplings etc) and even someone like me who needs ginger in food, I won’t really eat it on its own 🥲
Ginger is super pungent. I hate when fish porridge auntie mixes those very thin ginger slices in the congee and you can’t really pick them all out and it just makes your whole porridge taste like ginger haha.
YA EXACTLY LIKE I CANNOT EAT MY PORRIDGE IN PEACE
wah then you scoop one spoon of porridge and then bite down then suddenly you whole mouth taste like the ginger... 🤢🤮 wah i cannot tahan it, still like porridge though just not a fan of the ginger.

Me! We can be friends @nothing_to know

Been eating bitter gourd since I was young.
It's great that Sew is trying!
i dont understand why sew didnt just shave off the "leaves" of the brocolli, like the little floettey/bulby things and call it brocolli, coz it still technically is bocolli and a unique way of eating it too
We still proud of you SEW!
Totally not paid enough! Omg 3 brave souls!!
Haha!
@6:52 "I put in the wrong way" in my entire existence I never knew that there was a right way to eat broccoli 🤣

Next episode should try to cook their least fav veggie without them noticing kinda challenge 72 hours xD Sew looks at it like its a bomb haha
30 days takes his challenge to a whole nother level
i love salary but everyone should hate CELERY!
I’m convinced that Sew’s job from now on is just to suffer food challenges in front of the camera
so proud of you all👏🏻👏🏻
Pro tip: most vegetables taste exponentially better when oven roasted. Just toss them in a baking tray with olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika and some dried herbs (last 2 optional) and roast for 8-10min at 150-200 degrees
I LOVE THIS TRIO PLEASE PUT THEM ON CHALLENGES MORE LIKE PUT THEM TOGETHER
For bittergourd you can soak in salt water/rub with salt and squeeze out the excess moisture before you cook it. It gets rid of some bitterness to make it more palatable 😊
Amanda can try ginger ale!
I used to hate bittergourd too. But a couple years ago, I accidentally tried fried bittergourd (indian cuisine) and that immediately changed my mind because those.. are freaking delish! broccoli - baked broccoli with cheese (add some cooking cream)
ginger- you may try out some sesame chicken and ginger vinegar pork
all these dishes might ease your taste buds hahaha
I love passion fruit and ginger
I do not like ginger either. But I consider it a necessary evil in fish/ meat dishes to get rid of the fishy taste (腥味)
love amanda and rai!!! where is renee hahah!
Sew being over-dramatic is good content, hope to see more of her singing
Oh my! Brocolli is one of my favourite vege and bitter gourd is so nice with omelette!! For ginger, still okay.
Broccoli Soup 🥦
Bitter gourd, slice it thinly, wash it with salt water it to lower the bitterness.
- Juice it to drink for punishment/forfeit
Ginger Sauce from Chicken Rice stall are the best. Buta Shogaki Don, does use ginger for the marination😍

ok but candied ginger is great though - or candied ginger coated with chocolate!
Sew! Please notice this.
Make broccoli, cheese and potato together. Boil & Mashed everything up. Super delicious!
Or make the Ikea Broccoli Potatoes Patties. Super palatable too!
You will love it. Trust me! You will forget about broccoli is inside the food.

I really love broccoli! Broccoli in mala is really the best dish ever!!

Hey Amanda, you can try to thin slice the ginger and fried it with olive oil until golden brown. U can try, maybe it will suits u. :)
7:15 The sausage.... Sweat?!!! 😭
You gotta prep the bitter gourd first, it’ll taste very bitter if not like salt soak properly. its ok sew! we all have things we don't like i feel you hhahhah
My tactic for bitter gourd: imagine the taste of a food you REALLY LIKE while eating the bitter gourd (aka trick ur tongue into thinking it's tasting something yummy) then repeat it many times. you should mix the bittergourd with some salt and rinse it out before cooking. to remove some of the bitterness.

Bitter gourd and broccoli sedapppppppppppp... MY FAV
Sew, the stem of the broccoli can eat wan. 😂 Slice it up and put into the air fryer too!
I don’t like century egg… 😂 - Amanda
Ommo!! Japanese then! 😂😂😂
you should rub salt your bitter gourd to draw the the bitter taste before cooking Rainer.
HAPPY NATIONAL DAY!

I hate bittergourd but one hack that makes it so much easier to eat is by frying it with mala sauce
