Fortunately I predict it'll take the USAF at least a decade, hopefully longer, to replace the venerable KC-135R with the new (and yet to be proven) KC-46A!
From what I've read it probably will take longer than that.The USAF plans to keep many KC135's because they might not be able to procure enough KC46's to replace the KC135 over the next several yrs due to budget issues.
