Still feels like such a jerk move to give a bunch of mons thunder punch for free and then make it Goodra's community day move. Viablity aside, it makes the move update a lot less exciting
You forget the main thing. Goodra wins the 2 shield vs skarmony now

And watching until last part. It is a huge improvement. Breaking the wishcash and skarmony core is huge
Fun fact you could pair chesnaught + Goodra with an anti fairy / steel lead as an Abb and you have 2 mons who beat skarmony/wishcash core
So what you are saying to me is as a Skarmory player, never shield and they give me two shields trying to win a 2 shield scenario i won't be playing into. Got you
@@omarholder9036yes. Don't go 2 shields vs Goodra as skarmony. Best case you get 1 shield. Thing is. Goodra will be at 50 % hp.
But this is a good thing because Goodra now breaks the skarmony and wishcash core. You best wishcash you beat skarmony which was not possible before.
And this was the intention. Now the skarmony wishcash core needs to loose switch against Goodra and this could be huge if you have for example lanturn.
Like lanturn lead with goodra looks really scary. Because even if you lead wishcash into the lanturn you are forced to bring skarmony into goodra safe swap.
Sure you have 2 shield advantage but you can bet your donkeys that lanturn lead players will have counter to mud boys.
This means Goodra at 50% and full lanturn fights Vs the last Mon of wishcash skarmony. Let's say anihalpe. Ape would drop down to red if it doesn't shield the aqua tail. So drops down to 60% and shield is even.
Now. Lanturn comes in who wins the 1on1 shield even against double shadowball from ape and also wins the zero shield.
In the end? Your wishcash counter like serpior fights against wishcash which is easy peasy.
So lanturn + Goodra + grass against wish? Auto win vs skarmony wishcash core almost. Nothing you can really do even if it favors the alignment

Long story short. Goodra + lanturn now makes the perfect core against wishcash skarmony.
You lead lanturn and have the bad luck of wishcash lead? Well swap Goodra. Now the enemy almost needs to swap in skarmony to evade the devestating matchup. But then you flip the matchup.
Staying in with wishcash and soften it up? Missalignr the time.
And skarmony +wishcash + ape looses hard vs lanturn+Goodra and serpioror. I tried it. You win easy as yoh always will get your grass on wishcash

I think Goodra’s still good though because most average players will stay in thinking they can win any shield scenario not realizing that dragon breath is so broken that it pressures enough even when single resisted.
As a safe swap, thunder punch loses you more scenarios....assuming you dont plan on shielding a safe swap

On the topic of elemental punches; it baffles my mind that they insist on giving every fighter coverage for flyers. Considering that most flyers already take neutral from fighting due to secondary typings and the dominance of fighters in the meta due to the power of counter, I feel like they should make it so that some fighters have nothing to throw at flyers. It's weird how close so many of the matchups are between X fighter and Y flyer, and it doesn't sit right with me.
I could see thunder punch goodra being good for master premiere to hit gyarados and togekiss.. but not much use other than that
yeah everything with dragon breath needs cheaper charge moves, the fast move damage is enough, well if you count out fairys. and every other dragon than dragonite struggles alot against steel sheilds up.

I don’t care what any index or stats say: I was cruising with Goodra in ULP until I started hitting some powerful Waters and I couldn’t quite get to Power Whip to keep them honest and use a shield. So yes, Thunder Punch will be very useful in UL, at the very least.
Nah, thunder punch is better In GL. UL you're better off using power whip.

@@rocknorris9508 yes, you should. If you look at the stats, power whip performs better and is the recommended move. Just because it works for you doesn’t mean it works for everyone - you could be in a low Elo, or just getting lucky with the matchups.
What if they made the punches cost five more energy but did ten more damage? Would that be balanced enough to make the punches good or still make medi and ape OP?
It wouldn't be a bait move then... Annihilape depends on baiting with night slash and booming with shadow ball
If I get a hundo it will be one hundo getting Thunder Punch for MLP

I think this makes the Empoleon/Goodra way stronger because Poliwrath and Feraligatr were pretty big issues
Also having a shot at beating Altaria in the one-shield is a big deal imo

Would be nice if you looked at all shield scenarios vs just the 1 shield....its still better with the old moveset in the 0 shield and assuming you run it as a safe swap and dont shield...thunder punch is kinda irrelevant

I'm stuck at work all day today, so I already counted myself out of the event. But I opened my phone to do GBL, and saw 3 Goomys spawned near me.
I catch em all... And one is a shiny with amazing IVs.
I evolve it into Sliggoo, and go to evolve it into Goodra... BUT IT HAS TO BE RAINING, OR YOU HAVE TO BE NEAR A RAINY LURE?!?!?!???
