Great, back to the caves we go 😢
removal of a few isnt s etting us back to anything we are looking at setting more deep space satelites anyway , and there will be less and less Need for land based telescopes = You REALLY Need to Learn What Change is Before you speak
@@Ogt92 you need to learn respect. it looks like a computer error unless they clicked space twice.
The mountain provides a great eye to the stars. Too bad some people don't appreciate that fact.
@@Ogt92 your rude. don't be haole like that. your ignorant when you ignore the facts.
it does provide a great eye to the stars however there are cultural problems as well as legal problems. legal problems that have been situated for over 40 years by the way.
Isn’t the telescope part of the high speed bullet rail that’s they’re currently connecting to SoCal?
Stupid move all the way around on both sides. I lived i Hilo and I know it always comes down to the money. The only thing more asinine is the California high speed rail, and yes, I live in Cali and it to just a giant waste of taxpayer money.
I wonder how Hawaiians feel about putting the entire Earth in danger given that those observatories are the leaders in detecting near-Earth asteroids.
I think they should take all the cell phone towers off the islands as well.
Can’t wait to visit the TMT😊
👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 👏🏾 The Hawaiian people told you not to put it up in the first place!
Make Hawaii HAWAIIAN AGAIN!
if earth is hit by an asteroid that would suck
Mahalo 🤙
It's ridiculous Hawaiians can't see these telescopes as sacred as well but instead of one of the best locations for knowledge and astronomy on earth we are going to have a bare mountain. Religion has no place dictating where science can be done.
how are the telescopes sacred but our cultural aspects are not? ironic isn't it?
it isn't religion that is dictating the aspects of the mountain. it's the legal situations, the pollution and the fact of the burials as well as cultural rights which isn't soley on religion so stop the science vs religion/ science vs culture nonsense. it's the people of hawai'i against desecration against our archaeological locations and land.
Make sure you take all your opala. Clean our Aina... make 'em the way you found 'em before you scared our Aina!
Too many anyways ruins the landscape but most importantly Mauna Kea is sacred to the Hawaiian people 🙏
Unfortunately most of the people commenting on this video don't have a clue or care about what is sacred to the native Hawaiians. And yes Mauna Kea is sacred to Hawaiians as well other Polynesian islanders. Aloha A'ina💚
They choose to worship themselves and their ideas. Trampling a people and stealing land for their purposes is sadly their way of life.
Back in the 1990s there wasn't a word about it being too sacred for building telescopes. Go look it up, never became sacred until paid outside agitators came here and stirred people up that they weren't getting any jobs from the deal. Which was bogus, many of the operators offered scholarships to locals to earn degrees in needed fields of expertise. It's about money.
@MountainFisher YOU look it up! There has been and will always be activists protesting foreign involvement in and on Hawaiian SINCE DAY ONE!
Just because the media chooses not to broadcast it doesn't mean their voices weren't heard. They protested Kaneohe Bay with the same fervor, but that didn't make the news.
Sad.
More room for the Thirty meter telescope
Ku Kia'i Mauna!
