This is breaking my heart. I just happened upon this video. And there is a wonderful kind woman with a red hat and black coat that says Eastman on the back of it. I am in tears as she is helping my son. He is wearing the green coat at the beginning of the video. I live in Ontario. I feel hopeless and have tried to get my son off the street many many times. It is nice to know that there are beautiful people who help the most vulnerable. Thank you nice lady for being kind to my son. May God keep you and everyone safe.

I think all addicts, especially dealers should be sent to prison. This would be good for the addicts because they will at least have a better chance of recovering from their addictions. If the addicts are not mentally suitable for prison, they then should be forcefully held in a mental rehab program until they can show they're able to function properly. I know many will find this offensive but this will save a lot of lives, so if you care about people remaining alive, you should be supporting solutions like the ones I presented🙏

The video makes me angry. The current government does not do anything to help young people to avoid the drug issues. Instead they legalize it and tell the children 17 and above about that they have the rights not listenning to their parents. It is either stupid or evil or both.

One of my siblings , an addict, overdosed and died here, behind the Patricia Hotel. The other addict in my family ' made the choice' to do recovery; she is a model citizen now, and helping many others. Addiction is tough, but it is a CHOICE. Addiction lures people there. Unaffordable housing leads people there. You need a reality check. How about going down to the east side and talking to some of the people down there. They’ll tell you their story. Coming from other provinces to Vancouver, trying to work, make ends meet to pay the rent, rent is too high, they end up homeless, and either selling drugs or get wrapped up in using them. And the provincial govt only looks at temporary solutions rather than permanent ones to help the homeless. No plan to get them off the street only to give the a “safe spot” to continue using, that isn’t a solution, they need to get them into housing, get them the help they need to deal with addiction, then move past it, deal with other issues, help them find work and then be independent providers for themselves.

He should look into Plant Based Treatment. Ibogaine is a life changer for people struggling with Addiction. 12 Steps is starting be more and more looked at as a path that just doesn’t work for many and Yet 4 whatever reason it’s the only Taxpayer funded path. It’s almost as if the System will only support the least realistic paths.

12 steps work of your ready to work the program with the right sponser and they are self supporting no affiliation to government or any sect unless treatment centres ore using them but they aren’t gonna work in a treatment centre only for those of us who decided on our own to commit ourselves to sobriety. Rehab needs cognitive based therapy instead and we need way more rehabs. It’s sad it takes almost a year to get into one

and what does our government do? closes out the only weed shop in the neighborhood and closing down community services, even 7-11 backed out, a fucking 7-11. We now have nothing but junkies and criminal operated corner stores, and junkie service centers for dopers to get a clean kit and a meal and juice anytime they want. But homeless mental cases get nothing not even 5 seconds on the walk timer at the intersections in this neighborhood because of the causeway one way streets running through the neighborhood. The population grows and the services have become dramatically overwhelmed its very sad to see as the city spends more millions on art sculptures.

What do you mean home less mental cases? I understand and agree with the first part but the ending doesn’t make sense.cause way one way streets? Not even 5 seconds on the walk timer? Why would you want that lol

@@Rajonrondoo99 yes like a highway just runs through the neighborhood one way there are 2 of these and they encircle Oppenhiemer Park actually, sadly. Powell and E Cordova. And yes the timers on the majority of crosswalks across these roads in the downtown eastside portion are literally about 5-10 seconds including the timer and the traffic lights, in the highest disability pedestrian traffic area I've ever seen.

Well, decriminalization didn't work well did it? Safe supply being sold on for profit. Wat we need is more rehabilitation hospitals so that people have somewhere to go to detox. More mental hospitals to help people get out of their mess.

Cell phone is not cheap and also the hookup monthly fee. How a homeless can afford that but no money for food have to go to soup kitchen and food bank? They got lot os money from selling drug. I know that but if the food bank and the soup kitchen are not supporting them to do so. Situation may be different.

The heart of the problem is when users "don't know what is in the drugs they are buying"? (8:50)
If drug addiction was Good, then this is like saying: The problem with child pornography is only when the child does not verbally consent. Is the human heart Good; other-centered by nature? Do we honor Humility, or hate Him?
