Interesting that the FT8-Fox/Hound protocol uses encryption to verify the user identity given that encryption isn't allowed in amateur radio. I'm betting they're saying that since the key itself is being passed in plaintext and is only being used to provide a zero-knowledge proof of identity it doesn't count, but that still seems questionable to me
