Glad you covered that you have to pay "Additional costs" when it comes to Rooftop storm, commander tax being considered as a mandatory additional cost, thus you cannot get around the tax with rooftop storm. So you would pay 0 for the mana cost in the top right of the card, but then still be required to pay the X commander cost tax, so 2 generic each time. When I first built the Scarab God, and turned it into Varina, I made this mistake a few times, easy to presume it is just 0 including commander tax aha XD
That looked like a really weird take on Elminster not really using his ability to the max. Rather it looked like a Azorius superfriends list that also plays a few wizards.
Jack's deck contains a lot of top deck manipulation that wasn't really seen in this video. I have more games recorded of it where it works as intended! 😄
I actually have mine work with some superfriends shenanigans because I’m already running a PW commander that demands Oath of Teferi. Plus doing this lets me play Oath of Jace for extra guaranteed scry. From there it’s a mix of scrying spells, a sprinkle of etb shenanigans for Archaomancer and friends, and some big top end spells like Approach of the Second Sun and extra turns. And alongside a stray Anointed Procession, those spells make for great Elminster downtick targets. Lastly I have a fair number of counterspells, board wipes, and targeted removal to round out my Elminster Control-turns-super friends deck 😂 Trust me, it runs better than it sounds. My PWs focus on scrying and control effects and don’t exist in the double digits, they’re there to take advantage of OoT. Plus that Oath has some flicker enabling so putting a few more repeatable sources like displacer kitten lets my Archaomancer effects get repeated too for consistent spell recursion. Plus a few high scrying creatures (scry more than their mana cost usually) get benefitted from this blink. And extra turns help me close out games wither with lethal boards of tokens or by casting Approach (which is VERY easy to do in an Elminster shell, trust me). From there counterspells and removal make up the rest of the control package to let me get to the mid-to-late game where I can fire off my turn spells to win.
You had 3 boardwipes (5 total but one was dinos stay and one was let me fight your stuff... oh you allready have nothing) and the dino deck allways was instandly back xD Dino king is dino king :)
OK I love the dinosaur decks, but why on earth did you run out a bunch of creatures from your hand when you KNEW the guy before you just got a Supreme verdict back into his hand. Game could have been over 2-3 turns earlier
I'm very much of the opinion of forcing your opponents to use their removal as fast as possible. A lot of people at my LGS won't put anything on the board for fear of removal, which results in the game stalling and things not progressing 🙂
