A powerful wizard has destroyed the entire castle and army. King : "Here, take this crappy sword and some spare change and kill everything". Auld : "Something tells me that you prefer my younger siblings"
Looking back on this game I kind of want to know the logistics of Hero and Gwaelin founding multiple kingdoms. Like at the end of DQ1 the pair head off on their own but what happens then? Did they just wander into various towns pop out some kids and then declare their kids the new monarchs of these various locations? And how much of overachievers were they that founding one kingdom wasn’t enough they needed to found three? Not to mention that the gap between Dq1 and DQ2 is only something around 100-150 years if I remember right so they built up those kingdoms pretty quickly. Basically Hero and Gwaelin were out here speedrunning at Civilization Dragon Quest edition.
Something I always thought was funny is your dad is a KING of an entire kingdom and he gives you crap weapons and armor and basically pocket change. Here you go son, save the world.
aulddragon I think it’s great for my generation that played these in high school. It’s also great for this new generation. They may have never played games like this but now they can enjoy them also! 👍 Nintendo has got it together. 👍
alrighty, KO'd in the first episode! ✅ Dang yo, previous protag went on to make SEVERAL countries, that's honestly impressive. I'm guessing this journey will be filled with a crew of royalties with the Erdrick bloodline instead of just a solo run. XD Ye, send those pampered royalties to fight those demons!
I love how in old games they’re straight up like “GOD WILL BLESS YOU” but in later games it’s like “uh well we have the Almighty and their pantheon I guess”
Ahh, DQ2. I thought you said you didn't like mindlessly grind-y games. ENJOY! ;p (At least you can do it offcamera with Frameskip, being an emulator and all) I'd say something about the party composition in this game, but that might be a spoiler. 7:30 my god, he's been beaten up so badly his sprite can't even stay in the game's grid properly. "Sire, my castle has fallen, and I've been knocked 1/2 a frame up! BLARGH." I'm pretty sure his last thoughts were "dammit, I beat up 2 high level demons to get out, and I didn't get a level, or a goddamned healing herb for my troubles". Seriously, I'd have taken him in my party. It's actually kind of sad they took a small-but-important frame out of the NES game... (unless I missed it due to the recording software). The guard gets out, and starts walking, and appears fine, but then is injured as he gets to the castle... in the original NES, the guard actually exchanged blows with the 2nd demon (instead of auto-offing him), which (IIRC) the official word was that said exchange poisoned him. 18:50 oops, LP over. time for Arcanum!

The voice acting is.....brilliant.
I started watching this so I could see the connections between DQII and Dragon Quest Builders 2.
But now I need to build a Taco Bell near Moonbrooke.
lol, I'd forgotten that part of this LP. :D
I am here for the exact same thing! :D
There could be a Dragon Quest Builders sequel to Dragon Quest XI as well, rebuilding Dundrasil and Zwaardsrust.
Wiped out in the first video... that's a pretty appropriate way to start off a DQ2 let's play!
13:22 just gonna ignore that the prince has to pay to sleep in his own castle
Well, that's not his room. :)

I think multiple generations have passed, so it wasn't necessarily them.

Clearly he has played a lot of CK2. :)
I STILL LOVE this - AND the voice acting. I have only played the original NES Version until now. Thx 4 loading this!
Thanks, I really appreciate that! :D
I picked up 1, 2, and 3 for the Switch the other day. I grew up with these and can’t wait to play them again! Great Let’s Play!!! 👍
Thanks for watching! Those Switch releases have really been good for the franchise, I think. :)

Excellent about to start this translation myself! Looking forward to playing along!
Thanks, hope you enjoy it! :)

one small part of the battle music sounds like ghosts and goblins or ghouls and ghosts whichever you prefer
18:17. That's a Numemon...
I'm just 5 minutes into the video, I love ur voice acting XD
Thank you! :D
9:35 With your powers combined... XD

Explains why moonbrooke was in ruins in dragon quest builders 2
I think there are some other reasons, though. :)
Ah, Auld Quest II.
I wish this was the port on the Nintendo Switch.👍🏻🎮👾
a hd-2d remake of the game will arrive in 2025 for the switch..
The intro is really sad. Poor King
I got dq2 and 3 off the eshop today
Hope you enjoy playing them. :)
Is this version grindy as the NES one?
I don't believe so. I think they either increased the XP rewards or they reduced the XP needed to gain levels, IIRC.
@@aulddragon Ok thanks ❤️
wow they got slauthtered faster then the people on the ishimura.
I wonder where that shopkeeper stocks his wares...
In his pants.
Welcome stranger
Got some rare things on sale stranger
6:25 - and this is the reason Taco Bell decided to revamp its menu recently, removing several old items. Too many dead soldiers.
lol
Uh, another game where main character hunts Dragons?..
Maybe!
(Not really, though.)
Hm, seriously? I always thought about this whole series as anti-dragon.
I wonder why the male party members have goggles.
The goggles, they do something! (maybe)
:D
Subbbbb
Thanks, glad you're enjoying the series! :)
