I first heard the Bream recording of Villa Lobos' Guitar Concerto in 1972. It has been my favorite version of this brilliant masterpiece ever since. Bream does a masterful job. And I still have the vinyl I bought back in about 1973.
That solo midway through is some of the most stunning guitar music I've heard, played by Bream with incredible finesse. Amazing music, thanks for posting.
Beautifully expressive, driving rhythms and great balance. Villa Lobos knew the guitar so well, at times this concerto sounds like a caprice other times it shows of guitar dynamics, one after another, after another. Truly satisfying performance, great artistry from Bream.
Director Sir Mervin Marriner.

Perhaps the most full and vibrant concerto written for the guitar. In an expressive and earthy performance. Thx for sharing.
Brilliant!! Bream is unmatched
Great performance by Bream and orchestra and a great work by one of the few classical composers who knew the guitar inside out!

people
hey
OK
Marvelous.
That second, more melancholic theme from the first movement sounds suspiciously like Barrios-Gamoré's Prelude in C Minor.
Trés bien!

Great performance, especially how he comes out of the cadenza into the 3rd mov. Did Bream ever record Tedesco?
No, so Unfortunately...
Excellent. Thank you your upload. Which is orchestra? Who is conductor?

The only thing better than a ton of money is MORE rons of money. Gotta love the corporate philosophy of things.
Cade os brasileiro com cultura porra!?
Sounds like Elomar
i don't like the guitar with an orchestra, for me a guitar has an intimate sound which is ideal to play it alone.
+soigon So what do you think about this particular song?
+Olavo Pezzotti One year later I have accepted in my heart the guitar with an orchestra
Happens, haha
