#2 appeals to me. I know it’s basically a clinch knot. But the fact that it’s doubled with the loop going over the swivel or hook instead of just through line itself, seems to me that it would have better strength, for your larger and stronger fish, like salmon and steelhead. I am definitely going to give this a try! Thanks for sharing. 👍
Всё новое, давно забытое старое, ещё в 64 году узнал такой узел, мне было 11 лет, помогал дяде ставить сети на рыбалке, а в свободное время бросали блесну и по ночам мышку на тайменя.
I use the Palomar #2 for almost everything. Easy to tie and very strong. One thing to remember when tying any of these loop knots is to make sure where the loop contacts the eye the line of loop is side by side and not crossed over itself.
Knot #2 is the Palomar, which absolutely will not fail. The other two knots have three loose ends and I would suspect are not as reliable as the plain old Palomar
Not quite a Palomar but close to it in principle. Palomar is based on a granny, whereas the knot 2 shown here does not use a granny knot, but only twists around the standing line instead. The rest of it is the same as Palomar.
I have used the 1st shown knot exclusively. It never fails. The line has to break before it loosens, unravels, breaks or fails. It also doesn't create a lot of waste tag end cut off. After doing it a million times, theres no tag end cutting, just a bit of remainder showing. I never bother to cut it off because the bits end up in the environment.
My father & grandfather were commercial fishermen from Cuba. They used the 3rd knot did but a bit different, they would not double up the line, they would double the loop, first loop through the eye of the shank, then create another loop, wrap, then finish same way
None of these are 'better' than the uniknot here. In fact the first and third are worse in terms of breaking strength, Palomar is different applications.
1. Double Clinch Knot 2. Modified/Hybrid Double Clinch Knot 3. Improved Double Clinch Knot (all double clinch knots). I wonder if you could combine the 2nd and 3rd knots (Take the tag loop through twice like the improved clinch, and then around the swivel like the hybrid knot). By the way, these are great for monfilament, but the double uni knot is stronger than all of these with braided line, by a significant margin. Nice video!
I use the Palomar knot all the time now since I learned it about a year ago! Where do you get that braid from? I would like to get some for sure. Thanks for sharing
I have used knot number 2 as well. But just to make certain I also use some clear nail varnish just to seal it just in case I haven't tied it correctly.
Chyba go zacznę stosować. 💪👍

1st thing, knot has to be small, 2nd it has to be 90% strong as the line. else is useles.. This kind of double knot in that kind of situation is realy useless.
Thanks for that simple but effective video
Паломар вообще вещь,самый лучший узел. 🐠🐟 💪🏿🐨

#2 isn’t a Palomar knot.
What is it then?@@DaddyyCrab
@@nellyhaines something modified.
@@DaddyyCrab It's a Palomar with an extra wrap which is the way I've always tied mine
@@nellyhainesmaybe. My palomars look diff. If anything it’s a clinch palo.
I keep a small pop bottle for the offcuts to save pollution, nice easy knot too👍

TANK FOR XCAMPLE FOR ME 🙏🙏👍👍
That first one is a double shindo knot Gerald Swindle uses it, I absolutely love it except the tag ends do tend to snag a bit more.

@@Seanbault1983 yea my grandfather taught me the first knot and that's all I I ever used. 💪

Recently started using the 2nd knot for my braided line. Works great so far.

Clinch knot, Trilene knot, Palamore knot, hang man's knot. Any or all and you never lose your hook.

Truly nice. Love the music.lol
Cool knots brother 🤟
Thanks my friend, the hook knots are very strong
Grazie per i consigli!😊😉
#2 is absolutely the best knot but I would use #3 if it’s more convenient like when you can’t run the whole rig through the loop.
thank you it actually works for me
Very nice presentation. Clear!
Great color choice, good video 📷
Very good, video 😊💫😊
Thank you for sharing. It s simple to do now. Awesome

when you say double uni knot, you mean the fishin' fool knot? or doubling the line like in the vid and tying the uni?

Trilene and palomar knot….the best two and rated the strongest 👍
very cool, will use those. Whats the pliers you r using? I always have trouble cutting braid. thanks

Couldn't you make the first one like a modified Palomar knot and run it back through the loop and cinch?

The first one is no good for braided line, breaks almost 100% of the time on big fish. It’s very good for mono..

I use them, especially the 3rd one, all the time on mono. Improved clinch knot.
Can you join braided to swivel and then mono?
