Great information - thanks for sharing! I was just at the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge for the first time last Monday! What a beautiful birding location and added new species to my life list!

I love canoe birding. So many birds hanging out on the unreachable shores on lakes in the Sierra, especially Gold Lake

Fabulous series! I'm forever saving bird photos, then fumbling around on the Internet for an identification. The material you've taught will be of considerable help. (Just saw a female Ruddy duck this morning. You can imagine how long THAT took for a novice to figure out!

Each bird species is coloured to be camoflaged. Observe the shade and colours and patterns of the vegetation and lighting in the habitat it normally occupies and you'll see how specific it is to each species. Note also that if you were a predator from above or below or to the sides how the colours on the birds would blend into the water, sky, sun, soil, rocks and/or vegetation to hide them and fool a predator. This is the same for all wildlife species. Happy birding!

The pfd's are more effective if you wear them, instead of storing them on the floor of your canoe.

You should *warn* people to remove their hearing aids if wearing headphones. That BLAST of sound at the start deafened me more than I already am. It served no purpose, too.

__Loved every second of this series!__ except for the bleeped-out word. It's so unprofessional to include it. Why did you not just retake the segment? Why must the moment be profane?
