I have to say, in certain touristic parts, you must keep an eye on your bag. I saw a bag snatch at one of the port restaurants. It's not as bad as Barcelona but thieves (Gypsy women/girls) work on the buses, too, in Nice.

I stayed at Albert 1'er Hotel Nice which had good balcony views and a central location
