C3 Corvette Vintage Air Blower Installation

- I installed the Vintage Air blower in my 1971 Corvette. This is part of the overall process. For more about how to install the Vintage Air system, including issues and fixes, see my other videos.
I love my Vintage Air in my 74 convertable. You can use it with the top down and really feel it. Fan power is better than my C7Z06!
Doc Rebuild sells a kit with the foam to seal that door. It also has rivets with it. All you need is a hammer and 1/8 tubular rivet punch.
Thanks for the info. I’ll probably just seal it, since there’s not a good way to operate it. I’m deleting the vent controls. I may leave the DS working, just to have an option for outside air.
@@thedrivewayC3 I RTV the vent doors shut. I also covered them with the silver insulation material.
Looking better every episode!
Would definitely appreciate more updates on this installation- I would love to get a Vintage Air but want to understand the wiring/plumbing part of it a bit better. Or just hear some opinions on the ease/challenge of those portions of the install. Great stuff!
I’ll show as much as possible. I also recommend Mark Durbin’s videos. (Time with the Durbins channel) He has the same year (71).
What goop is that ?
the kit did not come with a cover to block off the fresh air intake? you should of put the plastic over the controls before installing the unit.
It came with a cover for the old blower fan. The side vents are connected to the wiper bay, so there’s not a way to block off air before the cabin vents. I’ll try to install the plastic cover. I can always pull it out if needed. Thanks for the comment.
Aftermarket A/C in a convertible, the purists are not going to be happy with you!
Yes, fortunately I won’t be hanging out with them. They can enjoy their crappy old AC and non-UV-protected windows. : )
