If Nissan plays their cards right, and keep the amazing discount on these Frontier as aggressive as they've been, I think they're going to eat Toyota's lunch. I keep reading comments everywhere (youtube, IG, Reddit) of people who wanted a new Tacoma, but didn't want to pay the extra $10,000 for the '24, making the switch to the Frontier.
And if Nissan were to bring back the X-Terra, made it basically a Frontier in SUV form, and kept the V6, at the same lower prices, I can absolutely see the 4Runner sales suffering as well.

Im a toyota fan girl. However, i test drove the 4th gen tacoma. The ride was worse than the 3rd gen when going over bumps. It was more torquey, and the steering was better, but going over ohio Roads, it was jarring. I tested the tundra and i loved it. I didnt need a 1/2 ton. I simply wanted a 1/2 ton. And i was hesitant due to the main bearing issues that they finally put a recall and a reason for yesterday. O well. Anyway, i loved how the frontier drove. It was smooth. It had some power for what it is. I bought a frontier pro 4x this last week. I tried other trucks too. Really the only ones i would have gotten are the 3 i listed. Honest answer, YES. The new Frontier is what the 23 Tacoma was. Multiple decade Toyota loyalists are switching platform because of what they did to the Taco, 4Runner, and that silly FJ Cruiser which is just a $50k Rav4. Toyota is no longer Toyota and it's kind of sad. They abandoned what made them successful.

The reputation of being somewhat boring but capable and overbuilt for longevity exited in 2024 with the last of these 4Runners. It's never coming back and Toyota is no better than anyone else now. They also have some of the highest prices (over $44k for an SR5?!) with no ability to order a vehicle, they only do allocations with expensive packages added that you have to buy, and some of the worst customer service of any manufacturer. The technology and bird's eye camera keep me safe and I am so excited for a long life together!! Ridgeline doesn’t even have LED high beams in any trim and also there is a stop sale on them right now due to a cable in the tailgate that can become pinched and disable the camera. There has also been issues with the transmission.

The Tacoma is the thoughtless mid size purchase. The truck for someone who doesn’t really need a truck, but sees they’re popular. The “live, laugh, love” or “salt life” of trucks. Theres so many of them on the road, I can’t help but think the owner is a lemming. I had one and couldn’t wait to get rid of it. Recently bought a used ‘22 SV w/ 25k miles for a good price. It has a lot of options installed including heated seats/mirrors/wheel, factory coated bed, side steps, hard bed cover, etc. Its much more truck than any Tacoma (or any midsize) for the same price. It rides great too. Solid and comfortable. The design is modern yet mature.

I’m looking to buy this very truck in Blue tomorrow… got to sleep on it 💤 to be sure. Lifetime power train warranty at the dealership. Nice. Drives really good. It does but not in pro4x trim (unless you are in canada). You can get the 6 ft bed in a S or SV kingcab or LWB SV crew cab. The only thing you lose out on is the rear electronic locker but I suppose if someone really wanted it you can grab an axle from a salvage yard from any 2021+ and wire a switch. I believe you can also by just the locking diff on its own if you wanted to install it.
