- How to modify your Fiskar StaySharp Reel mower to cut lower.
THIS WILL PROBABLY VOID YOUR WARANTY! PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK...
Tools needed:
*Dremel with a cutting disk or narrow grinding stone
*Safety glasses
The advertised lowest cut setting is 1 inch however as measured in this video it is actually 1 1/4. By doing this modification I have lowered the cut hight an additional 1/2 inch down to a final cut hight of 3/4 inch. Big difference when you wanna achieve a fairway look in your yard. Fortunately I have been able to achieve that by doing this modification. My whole yard is Bermuda and looks awesome cut this low. For $199 to purchase this mower and 20 minutes to do this modification you can't beat it!
Sorry for the video quality, I'm no professional youtuber by no means and I was using my phone to do the vid! Maybe someone out there can benefit from this.
If this helps you please don't forget to hit that like button. Thank you and have a good day!
Beautiful. I just bought one because I’m partial to Fiskars but didn’t realize it until it delivered. Thank you!
i like this options, i was actually going to drill a new hole, for the little arm to mount to the wheel, but this seems better. thanks!
Awesome dude! Is it possible to go lower than 3/4? Is it as simple as notching further? Thanks 👍
I just got the fiskars mower. I found that getting a conveyor belt roller to install in the front will allow the FOC to be shorter than 3/4"
you should look into a converyer roller and get ride of the front wheels the rollers has a spring loaded and and you can just pop it in the from wheel holes, buy a diameter that is smal enough to lower your cut and you get a cylinder mower out of it
How about change the diameter of the front wheels or take them off and install a straight front roller.
Um yeah... so in order to not void the warranty couldn’t you just simply change out the wheels with a smaller diameter... or better yet mod it with a narrow diameter drum roller?
Sure thing. Would take more time but im sure it could be done
I like changing the wheel option as you would need to get the file groves exactly the same if your after a very even cut
Wrong. Only 1 grove to cut on one side only! Has nothing to do with the reel to bedknife alignment
Is it possible to remove whatever safety mechanism causes the reel to stop spinning when you stop walking? I have a very small yard and prior to my Fiskars Eversharp, I had a 1901 Toro reel… that would still be spinning like the devil cutting right to the very edge of my yard even after I stopped walking. It’s getting harder for me to cut the grass multiple times in different directions to get all the edges because my yard is so small. Any help would be appreciated.
There isn't a safety that stops the reel, what you experiencing is friction between the reel and bedknife
Good job😀👍
Thanks for the video... Just got this mower and would like to modify it like this... Unless anyone was able to find a nice replacement wheel?
Also, loving the fact your jammin' Ronald Jenkees in the background... What a guy!
After a year of use I have since found a better option. Find a used greens mower. They aren't hard to find. They are so much easier, and more efficient. Gass powered and self propelled. Not to mention cut quality is so much better. The above option works great until your blades dull. Thanks for the comment and Jenkees FTW
Can you show us how?
Well done man ..post a video at 3/4" high cut
Bud i have moved on to a greens mower since then. My yard was too big to be pushing that thing for 3 hours straight in the middle of summer.
@@Rumblebee2655 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣ok no problem my backyard is medium size and I started sand leveling process
@@bala3253 just had mine top dressed myself
@@bala3253 get on Craigslist or market place and find you a tru-cut reel mower. I love mine, cut is so much better also....
Hey I was wondering if you have any pics or videos of this in use on the lawn thanks
I have many pics of the results, but am in no way a video editor and have since went with a gas powered greens mower
00:53 Einfach die Schraube lösen und etwas tiefer ein neues Loch bohren und der Staysharp max mäht 1.5 cm tiefer. Selten so eine einfache Lösung gefunden. Deine Idee ist völlig unnötig.
