, Great video, I'll be giving my age away, regarding the speed of the new Class 385's going up the Queen Street tunnel, faster than the 170's, I remember the steam trains in the 1950's when I was a little boy, then there was a "puggy" engine at the back of the train pushing it up that hill, once at the top that puggy engine detached itself from the main train and went back to Queens Street for the next train.
Heck, people are critical in the comments! I recon this is pretty good though the sound issue could be sorted. The only problem for me is this isn't the old Class 47 push pull, or 2xCl.26 locos. That shows how old I am! They were slightly quicker end-to-end thanks to less intermediate stops.
i was a conductor with scotrail back in the early 90s working 158s was brilliant ..i loved 156s between waverley and central ..fife circle everyone hated doing
We don’t include sound in our videos because we don’t want our drivers to be distracted by the fact their voice is being recorded. At the end of the day, this is somebody’s office and it wouldn’t be fair to stick a microphone in it.
Which of these are true? a) People will always ask for audio b) Other cab-ride channels have audio, including UK ones c) Some drivers would be ok with audio recoding d) All of the above :P
Scot Rail should be ashamed of the picture quality of this upload. Although the sun is behind the camera, the picture is so badly over-exposed it's difficult to make out details. NOT at all what I have come to expect from Scot's endeavours.
I'm afraid we can't do this Philip, our drivers need to feel comfortable when carrying out their work. With sound recording, this would record all contact to and from control and signallers along the route. ^Ste
Guys. Why is there NO sound on #Scotrail trains? I watch train videos from all over the world and SCOTRAIL is the only MUTE trains! Get a grip! And I agree with someone else called #DonCoffey who KNOWS every last detail about trains!
I agree with other contributors, the lack of sound and information is a major handicap. Take a look at Don Coffey's videos for comparison.

Shame there isn’t no sound. Would like to hear the train. But still good video. Bet that’s on a Class 385.
It is because I went Glasgow qs Edinburgh on a 385 only 3 days ago

I rode this run in 2019 when visiting from New York, and was amazed. Would really love to see a Argyle or Newton Cathcart Circle video next!
Amazing the speed of these units up Cowlairs Incline. Can remember commuting in the 1970s out of QS in diesel units struggling to even keep moving.

Brings back memories, it wasn’t electrified when I used to drive it. Nice to see it again.
Love these videos
Glad you now include title on your videos...avoids confusion from any other amateur videographers!
Yes it can get better Scotrail.......put the sound on (asking the driver for permission obviously first and briefly muting sensitive audio)!!!
Great video just wish the sound was there as I do love trains
Nice video, thank you.
Thank you! ^Ste
Great video!
I wish it had sound so we can hear the epic motor sounds
The 385's certainly make light work of the climb up Cowlairs .
Good video.
Love these but missing audio?
They don’t want to disturb the driver

@@ScotRail interesting, but unless he/she on the phone to control the only audio would be the train & alert systems?
@@ScotRail with that reasoning, how does the driver cope with their actions being recorded?
it would be a better viewing experience if we had the sound
Had you thought of recording the sound from outside the cab?
No plans to do that but thanks for the suggestion.
you should do 1 down the east coast Mainline on a Dunbar or North Berwick service

Take some inspiration from DON COFEY'S channel - well edited, professional & informative! Poor show Scotrail
Camera isn't fully front(is turned),which means that there isn't a fully Driver's perspective
But there’s no sound. Where is the sound?
No sound?
Class 385s dominate Queen Street!
why no audio? am no gunna watch a quiet video, it's a naw fir me!
So they don’t disturb the driver
no sound!
170 and 318 still the best

Hi Alan, this is a train that's in service, we can't change where the sun is in the sky at the time we carried out filming. ^Dean
Im not liking this new trend of silent train videos.please can we hear the trains.....
Add the sound,please please please
