Yall keep saying this to justify the narrative that Tebojo is more humble. He absolutely wants the attention and he deserves it. He even tweeted about Sprint and how it was an American show to express his disappointment. He’s also cocky but it’s not as outwardly expressed as Noah.
The splits he showed here were from the official Olympic website. They were produced by OMEGA. Sometimes this channel posts numbers from various analysts found over social media (PJ Vazel, Magician WLX, LR Jeffrey, fy2006126 are the main people producing analysis from high speed footage). Omega website publishes splits from transponder chips on their website after every Diamond League (sometimes errors, but interesting nonetheless). There are reddit threads with split times obtained from the people I mentioned previously
I haven’t seen either episode, but I feel like Tebogo had a huge breakout year in 2024 and movies/shows often take a long time to produce. I disagree Bra, in sports, it is very easy to sell an upset, on the other hand, ignoring an upset speaks of bias, disappointment and embarrassment. Americans are embarrassed and they are saving face with the netflix series.
I sincerely hope that the guys at Netflix take note of this content. Having watched your videos over the years, I greatly appreciates the thorough research you consistently conduct on the subject. I was personally very disapointed that they didn't cover him adequately. Netfix could learn a lot from your approach.
Possibly if he runs first 100m fast enough. His 9.87 celebrating before line in Rome suggests 9.83 ability. Peak of season 9.93 + 4.55 is doable for him (14.48). Most Straight 150s are run early season. Bolt 14.35 (9.91+4.44), Tyson 14.41+ (9.88+4.53), Noah 14.41 (9.99+4.42), Bolt 14.42 (9.94e + 4.48) 100+50 for context
To be fair, the series started a couple years ago when it wasn't clear who would progress more -- Knighton, Tebogo or one of a dozen other contenders. It's clear in hindsight that he's the next star, but not necessarily when production started for the series. Either way, it's good for the sport. I hope to see Tebogo finally run through the line someday, and Lyles to run the times he wants to before he's past his peak.
I actually think he was covered adequately. The series was focused on the Olympics. The first 2 episodes highlighted Olympic trials and he didn’t have one. The 3rd episode focused the 100m and he didn’t place top 3 in the 100m final, so it doesn’t seem feasible that he would’ve been featured in any other episode except episode 4. He was in several interviews, we got footage of his mother, his coach, his reception when he got home and more. The coverage was fine. And before anyone comes for me, I’m African. ;)
This viewpoint on Sprint is very negative. They clearly started covering the 100m first and covered those storylines, then moved to the 200m. That made sense, considering that's the order it took place at the Olympics. They gave him quite a bit of screen time. This will transition into next years Worlds. There were only 4 episodes and I think they did a good job.
Thank you for covering him. As melanated people we are no stranger to the constant bias against us. People need to truly ask why that is. Look up the true history of Africans to the world and youll have your answer. They are the oldest people in the world and seeded civilization. Kemet, the Etrucians (which romans got there whole cvilization from) and the list goes on. We have invented and developed so many things yet on top of everything that was stolen, there has been a concerted effort to diminish and minimalize our contributions... If you dont believe me search for yourself. There are dna studies to prove it, papers, studies, there are artifacts in museums. They are even working on a project to reverse paintings that were whitewashed. Such as Queen Charlotte, there was black European nobility. They will never teach you this in schools especially in the U.S.
I was very disappointed the that sprint did not cover that crazy 4x4 final at the Olympics. It looked like covering Tebogo was a last minute adjustment due to him winning the 200m gold. He was never in their plans to for the season 2 of Sprint
I’m not saying this to throw shade I’m honestly asking Is Netflix available in Botswana or in neighboring countries? From a business perspective for Netflix, it doesn’t matter if there are fans of Sprinting all across the world, they need please their paying audience and their investors. Not track fans. Not top athletes. They’re a business. What is right and what gets views are not always the same thing Following bigger names increases engagement, they are appealing to casuals
Yes it is! Hence they used his face to market beyond USA. They knew the "Africans" will tune in for this once in a generation guy! Hence why we are annoyed! Why make it like its about Global sprinters instead of Noah and other Americans Sprinters?!" Wasnt the outcry about making Athletics a Global phenomenon?!
😂😂😂😂 I don't know what to say about ur comment. I think you are not well travelled that's why you are asking such a question. What's the point of calling it a show to market track and make it a global phenomenon, when you focus mostly on American athletes, how does that make it global?
Discrimination we face that alot in Africa, as a Kenyan, where is kipchoges netflix documentary, dibaba, kiptum but noah lyles get a full documentary featuring him, how can someone like noah even hold a torch to even omanyala, with american conditioning and coaching omanyala would have beaten any sprinter there, note this we are coming for those titles
I like the spirit. Not to throw shade, but I think all we need to do is to grow the sport in our continent. There are potential Tebogo and bolts scattered throughout the continent. But due to literally no training facilities, coaches and the associated infrastructure, we miss out on their greatness
You do know that Sprint is a US production, right? If Africa wants the coverage, they should put up the money and get the distribution deal on a major platform, but we all know they won't. Look at how the African meet was handled. The top athletes pulled out because of such poor handling. Stop complaining when an entire continent with 50+ countries can't get it together to not only train up elite sprinters, but put out their own documentaries.
Definitely a very great athlete. I agree that he deserved more coverage and attention, but as a track fan I really appreciate his performances and really look forward to the 2025 season. Having lost his mother this year what he accomplished was all the more immense.
You clearly didn't watch the show. Please, please be quiet. JuJu is prominently in it in both the 100 and 200. She got the most screen time of any other female athlete!
@TunesOfTheEarth I see you didn't watch it and are commenting. They followed JuJu on both her 100m and 200m journey. She got more time than any other female. And as far as what I assume to be your reference to ShaCarri, she was on film but refused to say one word to them. She completely ignored them. They filmed her but she gave zero commentary so they had her teammates talk instead. Stop commenting on something you never bothered to watch.
One problem with most african athletes is that they are not" media savvy ".And unfortunately their accents do not allow them to be clearly understood during interviews. Some body in the comments suggested that "Tebogo" is not a well known name like "Noah",suggesting that Letsile's name is a hindrance of sorts... and not like Johnson, Mike...etc. I dont think that if Tebogo was named Micky Johnson that would change his personality,or accent. That said, I think if the media focused on the likes of Letsile, their "commercial" images might change for the better.
I know this has nothing to do with this video in particular I wish a kid from my school kept running/sprinting We would have been 14/15 and he was running sub 11 100metres. Big Filipino lad, probably 6'3-6'5 these days. I just know he could have gotten Sub 10s with time But he took the same route I did, and now we're slaving away in kitchens 😂
Tebogo would have to run 150m at peak season to see anything close to Bolt's 14.35 imo.. for context (100+50): Bolt 14.35 (Manchester'09) 9.91+4.44, Tyson 14.41+ (Manchester'10) 9.88+4.53, Noah 14.41 (Atlanta'24) 9.99+4.42, Bolt 14.42 (Rio'13) 9.94e + 4.48
I woke up midnight to watch the show but it was so disappointing. The fact that they used his face for marketing and getting to hear three sentences about him on the show, annoyed me to the core..
IMO Tebogo is more of a threat to Lyles at 100m & 200m - they will have to give Tebogo his due credit. Tebogo seems to have a very slight frame & musculature for a sprinter - how does he generate such speed?
Akane Simbine also had a great year. We're now getting more and more African runners; I believe there were some standouts in the junior meets this year. I would like to see some attention given to these promising juniors, not just the Sudanese runner, but also other South Africans.
You say that but out of the entire CONTINENT of Africa, there are 4 prominent sprinters right now- Tebogo, Omanyala, Simbine, and Van Nekert. That's not very good and there should be way more. The US, Jamaica, GB, and even Canada put up way more elite athletes. Africans like to complain, but until these athletes materialize and start winning major titles, no one will pay attention or care. By sheer size, the continent should be dominating, but it's not.
@@kpat3052 There should be more, but I was saying that if you look at the junior athletes, the situation is improving. Success in the African context is, as it always has been, all about good coaching. (BTW, there are several other very good (and up and coming) runners just outside of the present top world leader list, e.g., the Zimbabweans that we saw at the Paris Olympics.)
The producers of Sprint doesn't understand the sport, they were search for drama. Anyone who knows the sport will immediately point at Letsile Tebogo as the future and in my opinion as the person that can run 400m under 43. Usain chose to work on strength as you can see by comparing his physique between 2004 and 2008. Letsile is slim and light. So I believe if he can focus on 400m will break the WR.
Enjoyed it .................but unfortunately, it was always going to be heavily US focussed for a specific target audience rather than balanced for true athletics fans. Could have done with less Snoop D and NL fashionista overload and incorporated more athletes and their stories! Tobogo, Omanyala, Hughes, Asher-Smith, Sani-Brown, Jacobs.
@@AlexP-dz7ew My point perfectly explained, to REAL athletics fans, THE STORY/JOURNEY of the previous Olympic champion WOULD have be of interest and contextual as he eventually placed 5th!! It was a US production and those other athletes don't have major titles and aren't top contenders. They took the most elite. Thats why Tebogo got a storyline.
I feel like his performances are just out of this world. However it may not be bad that he's kinda in the shadow. He's still young and needs time to get used to fame and the things connected to it as interviews etc. He might not look like it but you know what they say, never judge a book by its cover. He's still got time to get to some show

They also didn’t address Fred Kerleys sponsor drama with ASICS What’s the point of following the highs and lows of being a pro sprinter when you avoid things like that
There were onky 4 episodes to cover men's and women's 100m and 200m. They didn't go deep into anything. And Fred already said what happened. He pulled out of the deal and took a significant financial hit because he didn't like their shoes. No need to rehash what he already explained.

@olusojimarsh8539 raising his profile? How.? That guy's has been delivering on the biggest stage and people are still saying he should raise his profile? He is probably the most popular athletes in a continent housing over 1.6 billion people. He does not need to raise his profile.
You make assumptions. Was the series meant to grow the sport globally or cover the big hit makers? This is s US production, so what did you expect?
You also forgot that lyles did indeed will the 100m gold so it's not like he didn't do anything and the 100m is still the most popular event
1:00 Frank Ocean?
Thank you for highlighting Tebogo in a way that others have not. Your coverage of athletics on this channel is always brilliant. Blessings.
Tebogo is just getting started what a future he has ahead of him.potentially break every sprint world record
I could see the 200 for sure and possibly the 400 but the 100 is still untouchable. He hasn't even gone sub 9.8 let alone 9.58
The thing is that tebogo doesn't want this attention so i think he's cool with it
I think he likes attention just fine. He tries to act like he doesn't but he does. He is cocky and does little things to show his personality too. Especially when he was younger.
Yall keep saying this to justify the narrative that Tebojo is more humble. He absolutely wants the attention and he deserves it. He even tweeted about Sprint and how it was an American show to express his disappointment. He’s also cocky but it’s not as outwardly expressed as Noah.
Thank you for helping to put Letsile Tebogo on the map! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Where do you find all of these 10m splits for races?!
@total running productions please answer
Google
The splits he showed here were from the official Olympic website. They were produced by OMEGA. Sometimes this channel posts numbers from various analysts found over social media (PJ Vazel, Magician WLX, LR Jeffrey, fy2006126 are the main people producing analysis from high speed footage). Omega website publishes splits from transponder chips on their website after every Diamond League (sometimes errors, but interesting nonetheless). There are reddit threads with split times obtained from the people I mentioned previously

Shoutout to Netflix for making a good show. Has to be said
I haven’t seen either episode, but I feel like Tebogo had a huge breakout year in 2024 and movies/shows often take a long time to produce. Looking back at stats actually he had a silver and bronze at the 23 world’s. Perhaps he should’ve been included, but he definitely should be if there’s another season.
@@TheAmazingHuman-Manhe was prominently in the series. Watch it yourself. This video was for clicks.
Agree!
Well it was an American show
Guess America s blind to facts, but the again, who doesn't know that. America is the country that can invade another to force them to allow gay marriages, so...yeah.
Well, don't call them World champions then 😊
every year the track surfaces get better and better. I remember running on an old cinder track in my high school
sadly to the average viewer that might want to watch the show but know nothing about international athletics its a well known decades old rivalry between America and Jamaica so its an easy sell if u market it that way like they did, i still havent started the first season of Sprint yet so i cant/wont comment on that but im very glad that u did this vid to showcase the amazing talents of Tebogo, as he deserves all that credit and more
I disagree Bra, in sports, it is very easy to sell an upset, on the other hand, ignoring an upset speaks of bias, disappointment and embarrassment.
Tebogo on a 150 straight is 14.4 material
A hypothetical guess at a time over a hypothetical distance on a hypothetical track layout. Valuable.
@@shaylorcyclingwahoo bet you're run at parties, hypothetical comment
To be fair, the series started a couple years ago when it wasn't clear who would progress more -- Knighton, Tebogo or one of a dozen other contenders. It's clear in hindsight that he's the next star, but not necessarily when production started for the series. Either way, it's good for the sport. I hope to see Tebogo finally run through the line someday, and Lyles to run the times he wants to before he's past his peak.
Hard to market African runners who have not won and won and won. How long did it take for the likes of Gebreselasie and Kipruto to get known?
how come y'all dont talk about Ferdinand Omanyala....the fastest man in africa...bro holds the african sprint record
honestly would love to commend u for your non bias on talent despite the geographical point. talent is talent.
And before anyone comes for me, I’m African. ;)
His rise was a bit unexpected especially for a TV show :).
Wow, didn't expect a video about athletics to make me tear up. I hope he gets his due flowers
😂😂😂…
Love this. Thank you for sharing his story. More more more. 😊
TRP never disappoints. This video was absolutely necessary
I was very disappointed the that sprint did not cover that crazy 4x4 final at the Olympics. It looked like covering Tebogo was a last minute adjustment due to him winning the 200m gold. He was never in their plans to for the season 2 of Sprint
I noticed back then when watching your vids that Tebogo should be one to keep an eye on
I’m not saying this to throw shade I’m honestly asking
Is Netflix available in Botswana or in neighboring countries?
From a business perspective for Netflix, it doesn’t matter if there are fans of Sprinting all across the world, they need please their paying audience and their investors. Not track fans. Not top athletes.
They’re a business. What is right and what gets views are not always the same thing
Following bigger names increases engagement, they are appealing to casuals
No, there is no internet, electricity. Just animals and small huts.
This comment is truely an American comment. The kind of comment that implies nothing exists outside America.
Love you Letsile! You are the best and you inspire me to be the best version of me.
thank you for covering him with respect
Tebogo should stop slowing down at the finish line and give it his all. The guy is really fast but I don't like the way he does it at the end.
How will he ever sleep at night knowing your concern?
He is still on the way up. So , he is arguably working on a lot of portions of the race , so expect quite a lot
Humble guy always nice to watch
As an African, I can't agree more with you @kpat3052
My good friend Shanganani comes from James Town and I am so proud of Letsile Tebogo because I know how much they love him there. 🏅🏅🏅🏆💫
Tebogo is a true menace.
When Tebogo is quite they say don't be like Bolt.
Tebogo exists amongst bolt, Johnson, van neikirk, lewis. It shows that media coverage does not correlate with ability.
Na he not on that level
This is disingenuous. He hasn't done any of that when they were filming. He was a contender but no one really expected him to pop off the West he did
I would want to see a documentary only about this guy!
Definitely a very great athlete. I agree that he deserved more coverage and attention, but as a track fan I really appreciate his performances and really look forward to the 2025 season. Having lost his mother this year what he accomplished was all the more immense.
the jakob ingebrigtsen of the sprints but even better, more cinsistent and winning when it counts
Yeah, well, there's another athlete they left out as well and her name is Julien Alfred.
In season 1?
You clearly didn't watch the show. Please, please be quiet. JuJu is prominently in it in both the 100 and 200. She got the most screen time of any other female athlete!
@kpat3052 horse pucky! All they focus on was the Jamaicians and ShaKayKay. Get real.
@@TunesOfTheEarth you really aren't very intelligent. Stop with the 2nd grade level comments.
3:06 wrong vid...
Good video. Agree 👍🏾
I know this has nothing to do with this video in particular
I wish a kid from my school kept running/sprinting
We would have been 14/15 and he was running sub 11 100metres. Big Filipino lad, probably 6'3-6'5 these days.
I just know he could have gotten Sub 10s with time
But he took the same route I did, and now we're slaving away in kitchens 😂
Tebogo would have to run 150m at peak season to see anything close to Bolt's 14.35 imo.. for context (100+50): Bolt 14.35 (Manchester'09) 9.91+4.44, Tyson 14.41+ (Manchester'10) 9.88+4.53, Noah 14.41 (Atlanta'24) 9.99+4.42, Bolt 14.42 (Rio'13) 9.94e + 4.48
Netflix 'sprint' series not made for true athletics fans - too much bling & stupid looking clothes... just boring. Glad we have your channel!
Have you heard of “ gout gout “ ? Of course you have. Drop a video about him.
That guy is a phenomenon waiting to be unleashed. Gout vs lyles vs Kenny vs Tebogo vs knighton , mouth watering
He already has
He is sensational! 🎉 the next many years will be very exciting for T&F
Wish Sprint two had a small segment on the 4x100m men.
Excellent. Great athlete and person. 🎉
I woke up midnight to watch the show but it was so disappointing. The fact that they used his face for marketing and getting to hear three sentences about him on the show, annoyed me to the core..
Netflix should hire you as a producer for season 3.
@@kpat3052
There should be more, but I was saying that if you look at the junior athletes, the situation is improving. Success in the African context is, as it always has been, all about good coaching. (BTW, there are several other very good (and up and coming) runners just outside of the present top world leader list, e.g., the Zimbabweans that we saw at the Paris Olympics.)
THIS IS EASY MATH. NOAH THE MAN YA’LL LOVE TO HATE. NOAH IS POLARIZING. HE’S THE ONLY ATHLETE ACTIVELY TRYING TO GROW THE PROFILE OF THE SPORT.
You didn't explain how Netflix made a mistake. We have no clue why he was barely in the show.
They have a travel and location budget, and there is some guess work involved
I think that the USA is a bigger market than Botswana
Jacobs was focused on in S1 but ran so poorly that there was no reason to focus on him this cycle
@@AlexP-dz7ew My point perfectly explained, to REAL athletics fans, THE STORY/JOURNEY of the previous Olympic champion WOULD have be of interest and contextual as he eventually placed 5th!! DESPITE previous poor form. So yes there was a reason he (along with the others I mentioned) should have had air time
It was a US production and those other athletes don't have major titles and aren't top contenders. They took the most elite. Thats why Tebogo got a storyline.
From the Semis they should have shifted focus already. One thing I know is that humble people do not get the recognition they all deserve.
I feel like his performances are just out of this world. However it may not be bad that he's kinda in the shadow. He's still young and needs time to get used to fame and the things connected to it as interviews etc. He might not look like it but you know what they say, never judge a book by its cover. He's still got time to get to some show
it's a good show. not perfect of course.
as a t&f fan I'm pleased with the focus it gets.
they should give more focus to Tebogo (not Teboho).
he should finish his damn races!
It's pronounced Teboho. He was correct.
Nice to see you addressing the US bias, well done! He is the business.
I have Only watched the first 2 Episode of sprint season 2, but I think it's a pity that Tebogo is only shortly mentioned.
Keep watching. They talk of him alot.
Loved Sprint but understandably there’s a heavy bias towards the USA and Jamaica. With Tebogo and people like Zharnel Hughes, Simbine and youngsters like Gout Gout, it might not be just those 2 nations that get all the attention going forward… 👀
season 2 is amazing 🙌
Tebogo is goated I love him
Speak, I have been saying this for so long. Even after Wayde did what he did they did not give him his flowers.
Tebogo looks like he’s jogging😂
Bolt started running 100 meters when he was 21 age the first time
Tebogo is the GOAT post Bolt. Prove me wrong.
He first needs to prove you right...
i'm a big noah fan. but fr though where is the big cheers for Tebogo? that man really deserves alot, not just US and Jamaican sprinters. This man is great and he's doing it alone!!! that is something that makes him standout from noah and rest. he deserves the fame as much as noah, johnson and bolt
They also didn’t address Fred Kerleys sponsor drama with ASICS
What’s the point of following the highs and lows of being a pro sprinter when you avoid things like that
There were onky 4 episodes to cover men's and women's 100m and 200m. They didn't go deep into anything. And Fred already said what happened. He pulled out of the deal and took a significant financial hit because he didn't like their shoes. No need to rehash what he already explained.
Not quite true about a Junior breaking 10 seconds for the 100M...Yohan Blake did this at 19 years, 196 days old.
He just won 200m gold that evening with full effort, then the next morning He just run 4 x 400 m relay... astonishing..
Great video, the siren sound in the music as a bit jarring though
Appreciate the feedback. I’ll see if I can soften it up for future videos.
In the land where people chase wild game on foot and catch them, the truth of their story is yet to be revealed.
Tebogo is earning his spot. Soon no show will have a choice. i would say the same for gout as well!
Did they include the 4x100m men's final? not even Simbine featured in the show.
Same with Ta Lou. No coverage.
It's because she wins no titles. Same with Simbine.
Tebogo is #1 sprinter in the world ATM
To me its crazy with all the technology available in this world that we cannot keep runners fit especially in Olympic years. You have NL hurt at oly, safp , eth and sj.
Study ub who along with JG hardly had injuries what did they do or how are they genetics. How wv runs 43 secs and gets injured. Sajwa eid nasser runs 48 at 19 and BW runs so well at 16 and seen never to return to those levels. We must can do better in researching these areas but perhaps space exploration is more important and mayb thats where the ans is in athletics
3 separate times is crazyyy
Dang…
Oh shoot drama incoming
