It's the safest way of travelling. I live in Wupertal and tu us it's just public transprt. It's like the underground railway only the wrong way round. Btw it's a bit sad you don't have any pics of the Kaiserwagen. It's an old carriage only used for city tours and weddings. It's called Kaiserwagen because the Kaiser or in englisch the Emperor went on a ride to see how it is. This Cariiage is 100 years old.
Really amazing that this system was built over 100 years ago and is still running strong today. Too bad that many other cities do not adopt this system. Where I live, Cincinnati, Ohio, the proposed solution to solve our transportation issues is to spend money on a street car system. What a waste as this was what we had many years ago. Sigh as a monorail system such as System 21 that could be leased is a much better solution. Even this system would be much better!
@mlade77 13 accidents, one of them fatal with 4 fatalities. From its safety record, the Schwebebahn is the safest means of public transport whatsoever - safer than aviation.
They need this system in Melbourne Australia, the city is burgeoning with over 5 million people the public transport system is not coping and the roads are gridlocked.
Two very similar systems near Tokyo. Like this one they are too noisy and very ugly. I prefer the straddle beam from the noise and aesthetics point of view.
I like the Schwebebahn, sadly there's only this unique system in Wuppertal (fortunatly Wuppertal's half an hour with the train away ;) Soon, there will be new trains, I'm exlexting that with joy! Unfortunatly, they destroyed all the old trains except from the Kaiserwagen :(

@TheJoshsam Some sections are new, but mostly the monorail runs on the old route..
