I know it’s been 6 years but I just used this to install my 2010 Nissan Armada Platinum! It worked and you are amazing. If it was $500 in 2016 it would prolly be $1000 today! I only spent $125 for the light kit and $20 for the “trim remover”(thank you). A Couple hours and done! BY the way I am a 63 year old wife, mom and Nani! Thank you so much!
Like many others before me, this video just saved me huge! My Armada is a 2015 it has 3 additional 8mm nuts to remove to allow the spoiler to be lifted, they are acceptable under the 3 black rubber grommets seen with the tailgate lifted at the 12 o’clock position. I can’t thank you enough!!!
FYI: Starting probably around the 2008 model year the three center pop-rivets on the spoiler were replaced by 8mm bolts and nuts. If you have the tailgate open and look up you'll find 3 2" rubber grommets. Pop those off and you'll see the three bolts and nuts. Take those 3 off and the pop up the two end rivets like in the video and you can then access the space.
This was great. I replaced the light on my wife’s Armada today and this was exactly what I needed. I had seen the other video you referenced and I am thankful you talked and showed more on how to pop the grommets out on top. This was the part I was struggling with initially. Good job!
Thank you very much for this video. It was extremely helpful. I agree with you that the easiest piece to take off (the cover inside at the top of the hatch) is the most difficult part to put back on. Your step by step instructions made this much easier...a job that I otherwise never would have even known how to get started. And most appreciative that I saved about $300 compared to what the Nissan dealer wanted to charge me. Great job on the video!
GOD BLESS YOU SIR! I cannot thank you enough just bout an 06 and it had the same problem was able to replace this rear tail light with confidence. Again THANK YOU! Wife is happy too!
Thank you for this video, it was helpful, but it's worth knowing they changed the design somewhat, and like an idiot, I brute forced it and caused minor damage. On our 2010, there are an additional 3 studs/nuts to remove, hidden by 3 rubber plugs. I thought it was just the 2, so I proceeded to pry and pop them out. It's minor damage, but it could have been avoided. So in total, there are 5 nuts to remove. I should have been smarter about it, next time I'll know for sure :P
hello, I am about to tackle this project for our 2010. Just out of curiosity, where in this video would i be concerned with the additional 3 stud/nuts? I would like to avoid the minor damage that your mentioned if at all possible... Thank you
@@arianasswimclass1556 when the door is open, you'll see three rubber stoppers - if you take those out, the nuts are just inside there that you need to remove
Thanks for showing the location of the grommets. It helps with someone never done this before. Do recommend taken the rear air spoiler off completely , off form the double sided tape is not a big deal . The reason being, the stubs holding the 11mm bolts are plastic molded out from the spoiler piece- Nissan Part number # 96030 ZH10A. Those two pieces are easily damaged if not careful, even for the trained Nissan auto mechanics. OEM parts is over $400 ( I believe it comes unpainted ). The 5 pieces of trim / panel tools from Harbor freight is essential ( made of hard plastic nylon so it's less likely to scratch up the body paint ). Your video showed me that It can be done by anyone who is handy.
Very detailed, im gonna try it !! I have an 05 armada that has 3 rubber gromets thats visible as soon as I lift the hatch. Also, once the light is completly out the space it sits in, can the wiring attached to it be reused ? Someone got the light for me fr amazon but it doesnt have the rubber lines attached to it.. (washer fluid line and the other one that attaches to the gray box)
Very helpful because you actually showed all the steps! Thank you! On our 2012, there are three more nuts on the spoiler (under three grommets in the center of the liftgate) . I do NOT recommend fully removing those nuts, though! It was tough flexing the spoiler enough to pop them back in. There's a cheap Chinese assembly sold on Amazon for $40 - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B091HSZT73/. It does not have any pigtails for anything so you just have to pull the harness and washer nozzle out of the old light assembly after you pop it out of the spoiler. I also transferred the cap from the middle of the light assembly.
Looks like this might be the part... www.amazon.com/Dorman-923-254-Third-Brake-Assembly/dp/B00FY80T3G/ref=asc_df_B00FY80T3G/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312111914138&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15372906029687718670&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9008533&hvtargid=pla-495543648681&psc=1
Hi, thanks for the video, I was able to replace my Top Mount Lamp, I wanted to ask you,do you know the name of the part the one that holds the light, the top part that you removed also, mine just broke and I don't know where to buy it, my Armada is a 2004 also :) Thank You - Isabella
I'm all about saving some cash that's for sure! Especially with what Nissan wants to fix things. Next up is the air conditioning leak I have near the right rear wheel. Nissan wants $2000 to take the body off to replace the tubing. Ahhh nope! lol

My humble gratitude and thanks to you sir for this step-by-step video. It was spot on when tackling my 05 Armada. Very detailed.
This video was great. I don’t understand why go through all this to this to change a brake light 🙄 so frustrating
This video is the better than the other one for sure. Nice work.
Thanks Troy! Now I got the know how to change mine out. Appreciate your time.

I wish I knew the answer to your question. I'm think it could be done that way, but I don't know for sure.
Helped me replace mine. Thanks alot!!
This was a great video thanks a lot
Someone knows what exact measurements should be the clip for the 2004 navy. Those that are placed in the third stop light

It can be found cheaper on Ebay.

Do you think I can do this with the window closed? The latch is broke so the window will not open.
Unfortunately I don’t think that would be possible. 😓
Awesome video! Thanks-a-thousand.
thanks for the help worked great
Ok so I replaced mine. It works but only when the headlights are on. Any suggestions?
I wish I knew how to help you with that issue. Unfortunately, it's beyond my knowledge!
