1959 MF Tractor Rebuild #1: WE GOT A BACKHOE ATTACHMENT & starting the rebuild process!

- We are so excited about this project! This Massey Ferguson Workbull 202 was given to us by Courtney's dad and grandpa. They used it on their tobacco farm and tree nursery in Ohio. Most people are accustomed to seeing red Massey Ferguson tractors but this is yellow because it's an industrial model Massey Fergusson. This tractor is amazing and we have been looking for a backhoe attachment for it for a long time. The original backhoe attachment for it was sold in the 1990's. When we put the backhoe attachment on it we decided to rebuild the tractor so that it could be useda lot on our 60 acre farm. There are some issues with the tractor itself and the backhoe that need to be fixed. We will be tearing the entire tractor, loader attachment and backhoe attachment apart to fix every issue, do any other repairs, strip it down, repaint it and put it all back together. It will take time and patients but we are excited to learn through this project.

I hope you do realize that by putting your backhoe on your three-point hitch that those are notorious for breaking tractors in half because you're not using a subframe!
You should have tried to locate an original Massey Ferguson backhoe with the subframe that comes with it that connects to the loader frame and the back axle.
Some people say that that tractor does not have the high volume you need for the backhoe.
An alternative that a lot of people do is to put a pump on the PTO shaft. Then you can use less hose and get more volume.
You're lucky that that backhoe has joysticks. Most Massey Ferguson backhoes came with piano keys, similar to case controls.
My dad had several Massey Fergusons with backhoes when I was growing up.
His had the side shifting backhoe though. With that style you can dig trenches very close to walls.
With the piano keys you have to use a lot more finger action usually causing large swollen knuckles with arthritis if you used those all day everyday.
Some people probably switched those out for the joysticks.
Yeah I saw some for sale that had lots of controls instead of the joysticks. This backhoe is actually a newer model than the Fergusons original. Long Manufacturing backhoe is the one we got. Probably an early 80s model. That’s awesome to have grown up with those. Thanks for watching!
