Yeah, Jade was a little bit psychotic and scary. But upon my rewatch of the show, even though there were a few moments where she thought she needed to change in order for Beck to like her more, in the end, it really didn't matter. She was her own person, and she didn't care about changing herself for the opinion of others. And it's VERY interesting how Beck realized, "You are one of the most hot-headed, intimidating, most difficult girls I know. And you know what? That's what I love about you." Tori said to Jade back in season 1, "not all guys care about how cool and hot You are," and this solidifies that Beck thought that way about her. Some guys want a girl who can stand up to them, make their lives a little more interesting.
Man, why can't Nickelodean or Disney write their sitcoms as good as THIS anymore.

Can we just give credit to Nickelodeon for having one of, if not the only, fully goth/punk/emo character? And that she wasn’t seen as weird or different or strange? Jade was the only tv character who dressed like I do and even now I think she’s still one of the only ones.

It was awesome to see a character like her able to fit in with everyone else and be herself at the same time. When people dress like that they usually get isolated. I’ll wear a leather jacket or a pair of black ripped jeans and even that’s to weird for some people in the rural area I live in, but some people think I’m cool. Elizabeth was really slept on in this show, she has an amazing voice and the don’t give her no solo
I think they were afraid that fans would see how talented she really is and she could totally smash victoria and ariana, not that they knew ariana would be ariana we know today. And they feared that if the fans saw the truth, they would need to put victoria more on the support rather than the protagonist she originally was. I think it would have been great if it was Jade who had more moments singing solo. Or at least all 3 girls had enough and equal time to show off their voices. Not practically all songs is sang by one.

Anybody notice that on 1:27 when she sings ‘and the longer that you stay the ice is melting.’ Beck takes in that verse seriously. He clearly looks down and nods his head in understanding, because he’s the one that knows her entirely. He knows she really can only be herself around him because he’s probably one of the only people (if not the only person) that understands her and why she’s the way she is. No one really knows why she’s harsh, or know of her past although she gives hints that it was rather disturbing. She mentioned her favorite ‘toy’ was a hammer...that sort of speaks volumes. Beck is her rock, which probably explains why in past episodes before they broke up she was always so jealous and possessive. But Beck understood her and loved her regardless of how she is. That’s love right there. Accepting someone with ALL of their flaws, and Beck realized he wouldn’t have her any other way.

This song represents Jade perfectly as she keeps saying she’s dangerous and untouchable but then acknowledges at the end that people (like Beck) know who she is inside. This is such a beautiful song that represents Jade in all her elements

Edit: yes guys I know she loves acting more, and it's always a joy to see her on screen. I'm just in denial because she has great potential, but honestly I will say this: I think there really is something to say when an actor/actress on a television show is THAT talented of a musician, but they don't want to sell out and end up going down a road That turns into someone who, they're NOT. I watched the Jessie Zoom reunion the other day, and Debby Ryan said that Cameron Boyce (rest in peace) was the same way where he was actually a really good singer too, but he chose to decline any deal surrounding music that was offered to him because he wanted to stay true to himself and his acting csreer. It all depends on who you're working with but yeah, we've seen several people walk into the music industry, and a few years later they're completely unrecognizable physically and mentally, and I think more of the modern actors are starting to realize that.

I still have the theory that Jade wrote this song for Beck at some point in there relationship or maybe even before, so he already knows the song and therefore what Jade wants to tell him with her perfomance. It is her own way of telling him that she loves and needs him and that he makes her happy, regardless of her attitude.
This would also explain why at 1:38 Tori is able to sing along, cuz their friends probably have heard that song too at some point

On the show it's canon she's underrated, because everyone's inexplicably so enamoured by Tori (when Jade, Cat and Andre were RIGHT THERE) and she got most of the opportunities that should have gone to them whether it's singing or acting (and Jade is better at both) but in real life majority of the fans love Jade and Cat soooo much more and are perfectly aware how amazing they are.

I would’ve loved it if they elaborated more on Jade’s past. There were subtle hints throughout the show that she didn’t have the best childhood. And there was even a time when she said her dad was never proud of her no matter how hard she tried to impress him and I feel like that may have contributed to the type of person she turned out to be. And they never mentioned her mom (if I remember correctly) so I wonder about that too...But I understand it’s a kids show and they couldn’t do that 😔
