Same here. My grandad bought the books when they came out and didn’t even read them. Wrapped them in bubble wrap and stuck them in a box and told my grandma “that’s if you ever need money when I’m gone”.

The pages were yellow and they smelled old. Years later, a friend of mine who was a comic book guy, had a magazine called WIzard, which provided grading and pricing for comics. In that magazine was an article about the most valuable comic books of all time, and wouldnt you know it, the first one was Action Comics (forget the #) featuring the first appearance of Superman. I forget how much it was worth back then, but by now im sure its either several hundreds of thousands if not in the millions. Now, i have no idea if what i saw in person was a real original, but it sure looked like it to me.

Me being a teenager didnt think and i have no idea where they ended up

There was more copies printed then you think $100,000? It’s worth more like about $10 because there’s far more of them in circulation than people are aware.
It’s actually recomended not to use gloves while handling rare books as your fingertips wont really ruin the book, and the dexterity of being barehanded helps avoid damaging it
