The market is dominated by major networks, streaming giants, and government-funded broadcasters like CBC and Crave, making it tough for smaller productions to break through. Distributors often prioritize projects with bankable stars, established production companies, or strong festival buzz, leaving many indie filmmakers struggling to find a platform. Even when deals are secured, terms can be restrictive, with limited marketing support and low financial returns. Without industry connections or significant funding, getting a project distributed in Canada can feel like an uphill battle.

Farid Yazdani is a Canadian actor best known for his role as Oscar Wallace in the upcoming series Moonshine (2021). Farid has also appeared in Suits (2011), Titans (2018), The Boys (2019) and more. He won Best Short at the Canadian Comedy Award in 2018 for his original pilot, Day Players (2024), of which he is the creator and series lead.
