    I want to put some info here to help 1909-1917- New Service shooters. If you want a much better double action trigger, replace your main spring with a new main spring from a python. The size is the same, the tension is lighter. Change up the spring, take to the range and run some ammo through it and test for light hammer strikes. Be sure it works.

      I've watched it all already. My biggest question was about the carding and what that is. Also would you happen to know a good leather holster recamendation for it? I also have a H&R 1887 38s&w police as well it's an auto eject top break that needs to be renickled.

    • @MosinVirus
      @MosinVirus  3 роки тому

      @@HiddeneyeInc Carding refers to using a stainless steel fine (and crimped) bristle brush (I got mine from MidwayUSA) to remove the surface layer of oxide that just sits on the surface and looks like velvet. The brush is called a carding brush I believe. Unfortunately I know very little about holsters.

    I received my colt commando last week and I had the time for disassemble it very similar to this m1917. My ejector when I tighten it goes past the lines markings and grooves. When I push the ejector and release it to go back in place it unaligns it self and doesn’t click back in place. Is there a fix to this?

    Looking for advice. I have a colt 1917. looks just like the one your working on. I paid too much for it on gunbroker. the barrel is shot out!!!! the throat has no rifling for the first inch. it keyholes 5 out of 6 shots at 7 yards. Should I get a reproduction barrel from numeric for $163? I wanted this as a shooter. not a collector piece. its not that nice but it does have great action. or should I look and wait for months / years to find an original barrel? any where I should look? Love your videos!

    My cylinder Latch is broken off , can I just take off the main spring, the hand, the rebound lever , and the firing pin to access the Cylinder latchpin. I can't open or take off the Cylinder. This 1925 Army Colt.38 seems to operate great. Its was put up for 2 or 3 years and actually gunk-ed up, froze and I forced the cylinder latch to free it up, but instead broke the cylinder latch pin. the part that sits in the release. • @MosinVirus
      @MosinVirus  9 років тому

      Sorry to see that. Do you mean the trigger pin in the frame that the trigger sits on, or the small safety lever pin in the trigger? If it is the trigger pin in the frame, you will have to go to a gunsmith that has a press. If it is the small pin in the trigger, you can knock it out from the other side.

    • @jonnylivesinbr
      @jonnylivesinbr 9 років тому

      MosinVirus it's the pin in the frame where the trigger sits on. But can't I knock this one out aswell? On my Pocket Positive that pin appears thinner on the other side of the frame and larger on the part where the trigger sits on.

    • @MosinVirus
      @MosinVirus  9 років тому

      von HUEland it is also thinner on this colt. I think they are all like that. I think you will not be able to remove it yourself. They are pressed in using a press, and proper support for the frame around the pin hole. If you try to use so much force to knock it out, and without supporting the frame on the inside, you may bend the frame wall in, and throw everything off. I wouldn't recommend it. Unless your pin is already loose.

    • @jonnylivesinbr
      @jonnylivesinbr 9 років тому

      MosinVirus well, that's bad news because I live in a country where it's hard to find a good gunsmith. But anyway, thanks a lot for your help.

    • @MosinVirus
      @MosinVirus  9 років тому +1

      von HUEland well, in that case find a good workshop that can do this for you. I would just hate for you to damage the frame. But, if it was me and I had absolutely no alternative, I would do it myself by finding a proper size support block to put under the frame when removing and reinstalling the pin. Heating the frame may actually help too.
