Hey @TitusTechTalk. So I installed Ubuntu, erased windows, then with a bootable USB with windows 11, deleted Ubuntu. So when I turned on the computer, it was in bios. On a different laptop, created a windows 11 installation media, then installed the regular version(US), bypassed logging in(add account later), there is some bloat, but very, very minimal. Actually, looks pretty much like your setup, without everything installed.
The 'trick' with this installation type is not that it doesn't install a bunch of bloatware (TikTok, Spotify, etc.) on your Windows machine, but it doesn't put any shortcuts to them on your Start menu. Those apps aren't really installed (even though oddly they give you the 'Uninstall' option when your right-click on them on the Start menu). This is a great and easy trick though.
Installed with English (world) and changed the region immediately on first logon just to see all the bloatware shortcuts (Messenger, WhatsApp etc.) back in the Start Menu. What worked was to actually wait a while to change the region. Installing all the Windows Updates and rebooting before changing the region worked. I assume the apps on Start Menu get populated soon after first boot, so changing the region to English (US) before that process runs just defeats the purpose.

I for one, really enjoyed the ArchTitus installer. I copied it and edited the heck out of it to suit my needs and used it till the Archinstall reached a level of competence that we just couldn't pass up any longer.
MS laid off most of its QA testers a few years back. I think it was 2017-2018 when the big wave happened, and since then the results are visible. But MS has such a strong position in the market that even if their Windows are crap you will use them
@@marklarrenmendoza7489 I have no argument regarding audio options, why Apple cannot provide a per app volumes slider baffles me till this day, but I have to strongly disagree on the install/uninstall apps. I mean dragging the app to the Apps folder or recycling bin, is as easy as it gets.
Aside from all the people who don't use Windows, sadly some are limited to using it for reasons they have no control about. This guy is being nice and wanting people to have a nice OS that works for them. I use Linux as a daily driver and only use Windows when I need to write Word Documents for work. It is what it is. Love the toolbox Chris, keep up the good work :) Just wanted to mention that I think you could perhaps get away with dropping ICS service from the set services to manual section, or perhaps provide a checkbox for those that want their connection shared from boot. Might save a few people digging into services to set it back to auto after running your tool.
"Microsoft does not test products anymore". That would explain why when I did a win11 update on my win11 test to see if I like it PC the keyboard stopped working. I don't know what else was trashed because I could not access the PC anymore.

A random idea for the tool: add an option to install a 32-bit browser for the really RAM-constrained machines, such as the Beelink T4 Pro which has soldered 4 GB of RAM, a 32-bit browser makes a real difference there. Brave and Firefox still offer 32-bit options, and it looks like Chrome has an enterprise edition that comes with a 32-bit version as well. Using a 32-bit browser may reduce memory usage by up to 50% for the browser processes (more likely by 25%, but it's still something), because the pointers are half the size.
I tried this in HyperV with windows 10, but as soon as I selected my timezone and rebooted, it put all of the bloat back in. So maybe this only works with Win11?
Baseline memory consumption with GNOME 45 on Fedora 39 for me is 3 gigs. That's still less than Windows 11 bloatware on my other drive which uses like half my RAM.

I tried installing the World version and it refused to default to Letter paper size and instead always wanted to print on A4, even though all of the settings were correct.
I jumped over to Mac when I couldn’t move the taskbar. If Microsoft ever release office for Linux and affinity release their suite as well I’d be jumping to Linux full time. I’ve only ever been a dabbler, mostly with KDE neon.
I tried changing the region settings when updating from 10 to 11. Doesn't seem to have worked in reducing the bloat on install. Probably because it already knew it's region 🤷♂.
I'm wondering about doing this on an OEM preinstalled Win 11 OS. The first question is US or UK English. The 2nd is Country or Region. I'm thinking pick any country that isn't US...? Unfortunatly there is not a "World" option in the preinstalled list.

I'm running a Ryzen 5600X with a Radeon 6650XT and I can't get games on Windows 11 to perform anywhere near as well as they do on a stock Windows 10 install, sans Defender. Any advice, Chris and friends? I can only assume Windows 11 will be a necessity with advancements to DirectStorage.
@TitusTechTalk When doing a fresh install on a modern gaming laptop, battery life becomes terrible. With factory install battery approx gets 6h, fresh debloated windows battery gets 2h. What is happening with optimization? How can I use ur methods of debloated windows without sacrificing battery life? Can you do a gaming laptop win install?

16:13. Somehow I managed to create an ISO with a few Microsoft apps in it and it runs great. The only apps are teams, one drive, windows security, file explorer and edge. Then tweak it with your tool. I would like you to test the ISO
adding disabling xbox to the tool would be nice. after manually uninstalling xbox I keep getting popups about not having any app for ms-gamingoverlay which is pretty annoying... so if this fixes that, I'm all for it
The interesting thing about MS Windows 10 is that having run the de-clutter, it boots and runs nice and fast, but it insists that is "adding new features" every time I start it up. Pity it has no internet access, grin.
Besides obvious differences in marketing and money involved, linux will never be at the same level as windows if it cannot be evaluated with the same kind of scrutiny and rigor as its main competitor. When I recently complained about a problem that is currently occurring with debian packages updates (many packages are held back and not updated), the reaction in the forum where I complained couldn't be worse, they even claimed that it is open source, non-paid and contributed by volunteers, meaning that we should accept and forgive anything that may happen. This is the wrong way of doing things, if this the way they think, please do not volunteer. I want the same kind of quality and reliability as of closed source, paid products, or else don't volunteer, don't contribute.

The only things I use from the store are games which require the store. The bar I hate but not sure if it is required. Really hate the bar the xbox button makes it pop up. Killer Instinct, Forza 3 & Minecraft are the only ones & I cant even remember for sure if the minecraft launcher requires the store or not since we're able to run java MC now with a windows version.
i tried russian version , and i noticed that when install finished , right click on taskbar give you task manager directly no need to updates like us version . i was think whole my life that us version is the best , but i was wrong . russian is more developed and less size . so i installed russian version .and i got 145 fps on league of legends , i5 cpu 4th gen , , wich was incredible . in us version i didnt reach it .

So I installed Ubuntu, erased windows, then with a bootable USB with windows 11, deleted Ubuntu. So when I turned on the computer, it was in bios. On a different laptop, created a windows 11 installation media, then installed the regular version(US), bypassed logging in(add account later), there is some bloat, but very, very minimal. Actually, looks pretty much like your setup, without everything installed.
I couldn't find an English(world) option on setup, but used the Esperanto (world) instead and it worked equally well.

The 'trick' with this installation type is not that it doesn't install a bunch of bloatware (TikTok, Spotify, etc.) on your Windows machine, but it doesn't put any shortcuts to them on your Start menu. Those apps aren't really installed (even though oddly they give you the 'Uninstall' option when your right-click on them on the Start menu). This is a great and easy trick though.
Installed with English (world) and changed the region immediately on first logon just to see all the bloatware shortcuts (Messenger, WhatsApp etc.) back in the Start Menu. What worked was to actually wait a while to change the region. Installing all the Windows Updates and rebooting before changing the region worked. I assume the apps on Start Menu get populated soon after first boot, so changing the region to English (US) before that process runs just defeats the purpose.

I for one, really enjoyed the ArchTitus installer. I copied it and edited the heck out of it to suit my needs and used it till the Archinstall reached a level of competence that we just couldn't pass up any longer.
MS laid off most of its QA testers a few years back. I think it was 2017-2018 when the big wave happened, and since then the results are visible. But MS has such a strong position in the market that even if their Windows are crap you will use them
@@marklarrenmendoza7489 I have no argument regarding audio options, why Apple cannot provide a per app volumes slider baffles me till this day, but I have to strongly disagree on the install/uninstall apps. I mean dragging the app to the Apps folder or recycling bin, is as easy as it gets.

Might save a few people digging into services to set it back to auto after running your tool.

They laid of hundreds of employees during the last purge and even cut down their compile team (the most important part of Microsoft) from 150 employees to 75.

A random idea for the tool: add an option to install a 32-bit browser for the really RAM-constrained machines, such as the Beelink T4 Pro which has soldered 4 GB of RAM, a 32-bit browser makes a real difference there. Brave and Firefox still offer 32-bit options, and it looks like Chrome has an enterprise edition that comes with a 32-bit version as well. Using a 32-bit browser may reduce memory usage by up to 50% for the browser processes (more likely by 25%, but it's still something), because the pointers are half the size.

The problem with The MSStore is that you can't use Winget if the Store doesn't work. I don't know if there is a fix for that.

Baseline memory consumption with GNOME 45 on Fedora 39 for me is 3 gigs. That's still less than Windows 11 bloatware on my other drive which uses like half my RAM.
I remember doing windows installs back in the day and if I had more than 14 processes running in the background, I considered my system bloated 😂

I tried installing the World version and it refused to default to Letter paper size and instead always wanted to print on A4, even though all of the settings were correct.

@TitusTechTalk When doing a fresh install on a modern gaming laptop, battery life becomes terrible. With factory install battery approx gets 6h, fresh debloated windows battery gets 2h. What is happening with optimization? How can I use ur methods of debloated windows without sacrificing battery life? Can you do a gaming laptop win install?
Don't use the high performance power plan, it makes it so your processor can't downclock which is why you are draining battery so fast.

I did this with Rufus and had it create a user for me. It didn't work. I used Rufus again but didn't have it create a profile. Worked just fine.

Besides obvious differences in marketing and money involved, linux will never be at the same level as windows if it cannot be evaluated with the same kind of scrutiny and rigor as its main competitor. When I recently complained about a problem that is currently occurring with debian packages updates (many packages are held back and not updated), the reaction in the forum where I complained couldn't be worse, they even claimed that it is open source, non-paid and contributed by volunteers, meaning that we should accept and forgive anything that may happen. This is the wrong way of doing things, if this the way they think, please do not volunteer. I want the same kind of quality and reliability as of closed source, paid products, or else don't volunteer, don't contribute.

The only things I use from the store are games which require the store. The bar I hate but not sure if it is required. Really hate the bar the xbox button makes it pop up. Killer Instinct, Forza 3 & Minecraft are the only ones & I cant even remember for sure if the minecraft launcher requires the store or not since we're able to run java MC now with a windows version.
