I am glad that thngs seem to be changing a little bit. Taemin, who also suffers from depresion/anxiety, could change to public service duty and go home after work. And no one said anything bad about it.

Leeteuk is such a strong person his military experience was horrible and so hard for him and unfair but also the fact he lost his family during that was such a trauma to deal with while already in a bad place .
First of all, if he had to endure that much if a side effects from the drugs plus it didn't help his depression at all then that means it wasn't the right treatments for him and might've made his depression worst. Secondly, what the "manager" told him is inhumane and we were lucky it didn't cause a life. It somewhat was the truth that if he got layoff or resigned from his position in the military he will be bashed by the Korean public however he deserves to live, he deserves his human rights, he deserves his rest, he deserves more than that. He deserves to know that he is SAFE whenever he need to feel so. Not being told that he is imprisoned by the Korean public opinion over military services and should die for it.

There is often so much self loathing with depression. A lot of times I think that it's not depression, I'm just a lazy POP (piece of poop). I know very well I have diagnosed mental illnesses, but my brain whispers ugly things. But one day I realized, no mentally healthy person can stay in bed for months on end. They'd go out of their mind after a few hours or a few days. I'm glad he talked about this in this kind of detail. More celebrities are talking about it, but it always seems a bit glamorous, or impersonal. His is gritty and relatable.

Depression is a mental illness and should be taken for what it is. Koreans urgently need mental health awareness, there are many cases like Leeteuk's that show the lack of mental health support and education. I hope that Korea can grow in empathy as they grow in technology.

I hate what the manager said but the manager is so right with the way South Korea views the military we would have probably heard of leeteuk passing away from the hate comments of why did you get discharged early or oh you have depression who cares (btw I feel like not many people would hate leeteuk in reality but the hate comments would still be crazy and he might not have had a lot of work right after just cause of the time). I just really hate how much South Korea people view the military as some thing you absolutely have to do no matter what and if you do any less you aren't human it is so stupid to think that way. I also hate the mandatory military service like wtf you don't even have a good military culture (rape, bullying, etc) and you dare make it mandatory. Lastly, I feel like the mandatory military pushes so many people close to suicide like more than we think and it disrupts a persons life like it angers me because leeteuk might have committed suicide in the military had he not had medication/just been really stronger and fighting everyday through his depression. I'm so angry for all the everyday people and celebs who have to do the military because it ain't right just there is so much that goes on in closed doors we don't see that is bad.

He should have been released from service after his dad and grandparents funeral. It was wrong of the military to recall him after that.
