What an oasis you’ve created in your back garden Tracy! 🌱🌸💚 Thank you for showing the Fire Light Hydrangea and talking about it. I’m so glad that I planted one this year and can’t wait until I can enjoy those pretty flowers!
Tracy, I love panicle hydrangeas, especially the lace-cap ones. It makes me happy just looking at the blooms! Your garden always looks fabulous, I'm so happy that I found your channel. I planted three Lava Lamp hydrangeas late last summer and crossed my fingers that they'd survive our harsh winter. Thankfully, they are alive and thriving. All three are in bloom right now and are simply gorgeous. Thanks to your videos, I'm currently in search of a Quick Fire hydrangea that I can train into a standard! Wish me luck. ~Margie
Thank you Margie! I hope you find the QF too! The Lava Lamp Flare is one of my fav lacecap panicle hydrangeas…one of the 🐝 fav too….very pleasing to the eyes. Happy gardening to you Margie!
Thank You Tracy, for the progress report on the hydrangeas. They are sooooo lovely! I hope to have a garden just as lovely some day, but as you know it takes 'time'. Laurene

Thank you & I’m glad you found some hydrangeas to plant in your garden to enjoy their beautiful blooms. They will definitely be a plant that will be most beautiful throughout summer with their large blooms. Happy gardening! 💚🪴💚
I just bought two Quickfire Fab hydrangeas. They are a new variety this year from proven winners and are the earliest to bloom of any Panicle hydrangea. Unlike the quick fire they're not a lace cap they are a full mop head with football size and shape blooms, 6 to 8 ft tall 5 to 6 ft wide. I'm super excited to get them in the ground and see how they do over the next few years.
That is awesome Queen Bee! I would love one of those as well! I just need to find a spot for it in my garden. QF Fab is going to be like the Limelight of early summer and the QF of fall….definitely a must have! 💚🪴💚
Just back from Home Depot's garden centre - felt like you were right beside me guiding me through the varieties. Going back for more tomorrow. Fire light is my favourite from this film … the only one HD doesn't have.
FL is also another favorite of mine in the mid-size category too! I have the two them planted in the middle of the back garden so they are always front and centre anywhere I look. I don’t think there is any other hydrangea like it so I would definitely not trade it for any other mid-size panicle hydrangea. They are most beautiful 🤩 right now! Be patient and you shall find it…good luck Heidi! 💚🪴💚
Beautiful garden . Unfortunately they do not do well in Houston , due to high humidity and heat . These flower are very nostalgic for me , especially the blue ones . One of my favorite
The blue Macrophylla’s foliage may get black spots and don’t tend to do well in himid environments. Have you tried planting them in pots where you can move the pots around control the amount of “sun” and humidity? Potted plants are sometimes hard to move when they get too big as well. I’m so sorry 😞
I have one planted this past May and it is now blooming. Looks like it a late bloomer…but hopefully it will be a little earlier next year. But it does look very pretty right now. Happy gardening Christy! 💚🪴💚

I’ve currently been collecting different varieties of hydrangeas. Couldn’t find the a quick fire anywhere, only to discover in Europe they’re called early sensation. Your garden has been such an inspiration to me so thank you.
Thank you Brooke! 💚🪴🙏 When we were in Lyon, France two years ago…I saw them at Carrefour in Lyon 9. I also saw them at an outdoor market in Avignon while visiting some relatives. Are they no longer popular in Europe so vendors don’t sell them anymore? 🤔. I don’t remember the names in French…..I just recognize the plants. Hope you find some.
We are very fortunate here in North America where growers are constantly working hard to breed new varieties for us to plant. Hope the UK and EUROPEAN countries will start doing the same. 🤞💚🪴
I have about 5 ft from root ball of the LL to Incrediball. In the last 5 years the Incrediball has grown and spread so fast that I had to divide and split them last year. @@TracysHomeGarden your garden is beautiful and an inspiration. I designed my garden like yours and I get so many compliments from neighbors walking by. Thank you
I saw some Pinky Winky standard tree forms at home depot today for $60. Struggled to not buy them they were so pretty. Love your hydrangeas, Tracy! 🤗😍🌸
Hi Tracy, your garden and hydrangeas looks gorgeous. May I ask how you keep your hydrangeas watered in the summer? Do you use drip irrigation? And approximately how much do you water?
Hi Leigh, I water everything by hand about 2-3 times per week in the summer. Each mature hydrangea plant gets about 1.5-2.5 gallons or 4-6L of water, depending on where it is located or type (macrophylla/smooth/panicle). If you have drip, I would set it up with 2-3 emitters of 2 gal/hr and run it for 20-30 mins each time. Test your soil to make sure the top 4-6” of soil on the outer diameter of canopy is moist or not….if it’s too wet then reduce the time or run drip longer, etc. Every garden will require a little more or less water so we just have to adjust to make it work our our garden. Hope that helps. 💚🪴💚
I water all the plants by hand. We do get a lot of rain throughout the season so it’s actually very doable for my small garden. With fertilizing the hydrangeas- I just give it a handful of used coffee ground in the fall and spring. I only feed the clematis and roses with Rose food. Sometimes I feed my Boomerang lilacs with a slow release fertilizer (this past July to help it rebloom). Other than that my perennials don’t need much food. 💚🪴💚
No, I don’t fertilize new hydrangeas for three reasons: 1) they are usually already fed with fertilizers by the growers back in spring to force them to grow “fast” to sell; 2) I want the new plant to focus on getting “rooted” into their new space by growing roots & not foliage; 3) hydrangeas actually don’t need a lot of fertilizers - too much fertilizer will make them put out a lot of foliage growth and not blooms. Ps.Many viewers on the channel ask me why their hydrangeas don’t blooms and the most common answer is almost always - you fed it too much fertilizers in the spring. I think most people probably agree that they did give the plant a lot of fertilizers thinking that it will help the plant grow - and it does but only foliage wise and not blooms. 3) I don’t know how much fertilizer growers gave the plant - so I will not give to be safe. For example, the latest hydrangeas Little Lime Punch - I looked at all the cans at the nursery and none of them had any flowers buds but lots of new growth…that tells me they were forced fed to look larger than their actual size. Hydrangeas do need “some” food but not as much as roses and clematis so compost in the spring and that is really all they need. Hope that helps!
Hi Tracy it's Bonny. I asked you a few weeks ago about choosing hydrangeas for my newly renovated garden. You suggested fire light. Love it. I also got a candelabra. Should I prune them back next spring or only if necessary.
Hi Bonny, The Candelebra from BloomingEasy is a forgoes panicle hydrangea as well. Great buy Bonny. I would definitely prune them back next late winter or early spring. Hi Faraz,
Yes, they still get water as usually to maintain their blooms and keeping them fresh longer…and they will colour more nicely in fall too. 🙏💚🪴
Hi Tracy! Why are my panicles turning brown and not pink?
Hi Fariha,
Perhaps it needs to be watered more deeply? Or getting too much water? Each somewhat mature plant needs to be watered SLOWLY for at least 10-15 mins. You can check the soil after watering to see if the water reaches at least the top 3-5 inches of soil….same thing don’t water unless the top 2-3” of soil is dried.
If it’s a new plant, the reason could be that the roots are not established enough so it’s has a little trouble getting the water to the blooms making them dry out easily? In this case, you my need to water more frequently….and not have to worry about deep watering.
Hope that helps. 💚🪴💚
