That stuff was happening right around when I started my channel. And I've seen it too. I don't tolerate any hate on my channel if I see a nasty comment aimed at any of my subscribers or myself I block the person end of point, no three strikes your out. Hate and bullying are not tolerated.

I have always believe if you don't stand for anything then you will fall for everything...it is that important to take a stand against what is wrong. ...and you are absolutely right NO ONE deserves it...and you can always be doing so much better regardless to the situation. I do appreciate your friendship and hoping all is well with you and your family....and you are absolutely right some people do take things way to seriously, especially the petty stuff...and I am also finding more and more these days that some adults have way more temper tantrums then children...like take a chill pill already. 😂 I remember when I first started my journey I was always trying to defend myself from these destructive comments that would become useless and senseless feuds. It was draining mentally and emotionally and I had to get to a point that I just could not waste my time on issues that really were irrelevant and served no purpose. Ever since I started on my no response, block and delete journey I have been so much more happier. All toxic garbage goes in the trash right away...I don’t let it sit and fester. 😂. Good for you. I think it is really about letting people know that it is not okay and it is unacceptable to spew forth hatred and negative thinking. Some people have really gotten very belligerent and way out of hand and it is unfortunate that the ones that have made the biggest impact and have been the most beneficial in our learning and entertainment journey always seem to be the ones that people want to put a target on. Could you imagine what the plant community would be without Kaylee? And that is definitely not what we want so sometimes it is a must that we take a stand for the ones that have matter most to us. Wow! Thank you! You took the words out of my mouth. People who excuse their abusive behavior by saying “freedom of speech!” are so wrong. Speak or write messages like that to your coworkers and you’ll get put on probation or fired-it’s not protected by the First Amendment.
And over in the UK suing for libel/slander/defamation is WAY easier. She could probably sue these abusers and win easy. I’m sure the only reason she hasn’t is because she has been too busy being a successful plant influencer and business owner.

I watched her video also. Poor lady. She is human too. I thought this kinda matter happens to bigger channels and I was surprised when it happened to my video. All I do is snip snip... it doesn’t even hurt me. You should write a book about self improvement! 😂 haters are haters you will see them everywhere. You can control yourself. I can only upset myself! My mother always said that misery loves company, so you can either sit with it or disassociate from it.
But on the subject of hate speech and at risk of digressing from your topic, we are witnessing before our eyes on how that term is used very broadly to the point of missuse. More than ever, people need to separate the harassing and sometimes threatening content of actual trollers, from people who are getting banned because of their views, even when what they say is backed up with evidence. This is getting out of control everywhere.
Yes, you are right. I believe we are dealing with more the less trollers that are bent out of shape in trying to simply bring someone down, make their online experience miserable and are on a constant mission to humiliate and degrade their character. All of which breeds hatred, bitterness and mental and emotional torment. Which is still horrible any way you look at it. You are right it is getting out of control and the best way to eliminate it is by avoiding it at all cost and not even playing the game with these people.
Having been the BUTT of hate when I used to be the city clerk in this town, and nothing to do with youtube, it was the most frustrating hurtful time I ever experienced. 8 years later after resigning I still experience the haters. Had to shut the totally out of my life. And in such a tiny town cutting out 20 or maybe 40 people does not leave many left. It is partly why I live the life of a hermit. It has always been my leaning to do so . In this case it is a bit extreme. It was affecting my physical health along with my mental health. It was best I just resign. Even though I am not a quitter walking away from this was a must. It feels so awful to see the haters come out of the woodwork. When I see it I too unfollow unsubscribe or block as needed and never look back. My health to me is more important than someone's petty feelings.
Woke to a new Mami leaf unfurling this morning. Soon she will need a larger home space. Adore her. Now off to shovel snow out of my driveway. Had another 3 inches over night. I just watched this now... maybe the reason why some are not making videos anymore. They just stopped... cold turkey. What a pity. For some people, some subscribers that is, watching these plant enthusiasts videos are also saving their lives. In their own little way by sharing their knowledge about plants helped me a lot regardless who they are. I hope this online hate or any hate for that matter should stop. Thank you for this video. You explained so clear and with understanding. I have not seen the video however I just don't understand why this is allowed onto the youtube channel. Onto someone's channel whom is sharing their way of growing and explaining what works for them. For me everyday I just learn to block negative speech and comments and live in the moment of positive vibes. When I am at work customers have mentioned that they really like seeing someone who loves their job. Which I really do. I bring that to my home life as well. To me life is to short and I love seeing the goodness in everyone. I know what verbal abuse does to people I have seen it when I was a nurse and it is horrible. I have seen and heard it all. I just learn to understand that It may not be directed to me directly and those people are just to upset to really see what they are doing around them. It is something that they may have encountered throughout their life and just did not know how to seek help so now they take the pleasure in hurting others. They in a sense feel validated in doing so. Just my opinion.

I am an avid reporter of malicious comments. The moment I come across such comments, I report them RIGHT AWAY even though its not aimed at me or the people around me.

@@PictureMaria1 okay so I got the plant for free the leafs were damaged calloused over some really dry some bend broken.... Unfortunately I don't know what kind probably maybe queen of night but not sure... Pretty big size very long vines but only 2 or 3 leaves maybe less.

The only way to achieve positive growth is to eliminate negative effects. I really don't like thrips. They are little bully terrorists. Even though I am not well loved by society it is ok. I will keep doing my best and forget the rest.

Although I did get a serious outbreak of the mealey bugs in my garden this year and had a devil of a time getting them under control! ...and I too have not always been accepted but I am thankful that God gave me a heart to persevere and still continue on...even if meant traveling alone...it was during the silence of loneliness that I learned some of Life’s greatest lessons and also where I found love, light, and laughter from within and realized that I have already been given everything I needed to continue on this enriching and adventure we call life. You may be surprised to learn......during the time I was doing artwork on yt I had no car. I rode the two miles on a bicycle to hobby lobby and had drink cups, oranges, and many a 'get off the road loser' comments. I was degraded for what I did. No one knew who I was or what I was doing. I did not suffer just comments on yt. I was physically abused, because I decided to change my life. And entertain the people, the ones that were abusing me, to try a d bring meaning to them so they could understand. Value is everywhere. The real Truth is this.....Never give accolade where is a necessity of obvious appearance. The Illusion is mere Myth and is not real. The completed work is however very real. It does not succumb to mere Tyranny of Force. The Meaning is in the Giving not the receiving. You can only change yourself not the actions of others.

I had comments with her because I visited a favorite channel and found her advertising another channel in comments. I thought that was rude of her! and I commented to the fact that I didn't come to this channel to hear about someone else channel. She was using channels to advertise others!!
You must really dislike her, you've written several comments pertaining to this. I have seen others advertise others and it didn't effect me nor did I think it was rude. Many times they are friends (or people that support them so they support them back, nothing out of the ordinary) and as friends do they support one another. Whenever I don't agree with a channel especially to the fact of how you are expressing. I just don't watch their videos or subscribe and move on. I don't take it personally. Each youtuber has their own style and way of doing things. Who am I to say how they should do things on their channel.
So the answer is "we should censor more"...???. I don't believe in online bullying, but at the same time, public figures get public responses. Is that annoying? Yes. Should it be expected...YES. Such is the internet. If you don't like it, turn it off or just don't pay attention to it. Calling for more censorship is never the right solution if we truly want democracy.

This video wasn't to judge other you tubers rather to talk about the bullying that was going on online...especially to youtubers and even beyond. I don't know her personally nor have I even conversed with her...but bullying youtubers is a real thing as you have mentioned yourself. I don't think many of understand the magnitude of how it can effect people's lives regardless to who they are. That was my purpose here...and no one is perfect...and I definitely am not one to cast the first stone.

Creators should not use UA-cam as their primary source of income! Get another source!
UA-cam is not my only source of income but I would not have a problem doing it if it could financially support me. If a person is fortunate to have a successfully career creating youtube videos and they find fulfillment and happiness in doing it. Why not? Why do you think they shouldn't do it and why wouldn't you respect their choice? I would much rather have a job that I love than work at a dead end job that I hate. I have an acting/entertainment background and I believe it has its similarities, of course on a much lower scale. I have a tiny channel and I still know how hard I work on my channel and respect the energy and passion I put into it. I think it is a bit odd how you would cut someone down for doing what they love to do.
PS there is a very small percentage of folks that actually make a career out of youtube. The majority do it as a hobby or never reach that status of being able to make a living off of it. My youtube channel is but mere pocket change in all honesty... but I love what I do and the people I engage with. That is why I am still here. But I think it would be a dream come true if I could do this for a living...it wouldn't be work...it would just be my passion that happens to pay the bills. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
@@PictureMaria1 Believe it or not, I was referring to those who want to quit when their feathers are ruffled by bullies. UA-cam can be very lucrative for some and a bit trying for others....
It definitely requires having tough skin. I have also had my share of very degrading comments and I must admit starting out, I let some of them sink into my spirit. I am thankful that my love of plants, creating videos, inspiring and meeting people were stronger than my hurt feelings.

Some things you should consider:
1) Not all people know how to express their feelings and create constructive criticism
2) Not all people are good. Do you think that in your 36.7k followers not a single criminal exists?
3) UA-camrs should learn to distinguish the difference between constructive criticism and hate speech.
4) UA-camrs should know before they start their channels how to receive criticism.
And I want to spend some time here to explain what the numbers 3 and 4 mean with an example. I have a successful career, I have a HUGE orchid collection, I have patented self watering orchid pot on my name, I have 4 aquariums with all sorts of rare freshwater fish and plants, I know everything about Rose Bushes and I have 64 bushes in my garden and I do all sort of experiments on those. I also have a HUGE collection of the rarest Venus Flytraps out there and other carnivorous plants categories. But. I am fat. And I am fat because I am a lazy 36y old that won't do anything about his health but waste energy on helping my plants and my pets and others instead of myself. And that's because I was raised that way and until recently I didn't know about that mindset and I started caring for myself too. Would I create a UA-cam video for any of my passions? NO. Because I know that bullying will be bad. I'm not ready to accept that kind of criticism and I KNOW IT. If you are ready to accept that criticism, then you are ready to create your channel and share what you want to share and try with every bit of information make it better for your audience and yourself. A year ago I told you that I stopped watching your videos and only focused to Danny's well-structured ones - although informative and motivative - you were wasting 7mins of my rare free time before you even mentioned your video's subject. Your videos were suspiciously going at the 10mins mark by telling "Before we get at the video's subject, I want to say that...". When I explained that I have a problem with that in a good manner (I dare you to find and reread my comment with your new mindset), I explained that I love your videos, I love the motivation you give, I love your energy, and I want to continue watching what you share but I cannot focus on what you want to tell because I'm focusing on skipping minutes just to find the mark that you talk about the thing that triggered me to watch your video and might learn something new (that most of the times was true!). Your reaction to my comment was to attack me and refuse to even listen. What you did there to me wasn't bullying from my perspective? The reply "If you don't want to watch my video then leave" doesn't seem right now, does it?
Wow what a long message. I must’ve really got under your skin. You have pointed out a lot of great points that people should consider so thank you for that. But what I am talking about here is destructive criticism...criticism that is just simply meant to be destructive. And your comment that you left was what about a year ago or so...yea you are right I’m not going to even attempt to find it. 😂 But it sounds about right. That is definitely something that I would say to someone who has shared their distaste in the way I make my videos. Understand that I get a million an one different suggestions and criticism on what people think I should do or change about my videos and my channel and there is absolutely no way I could ever do them all nor would I want to. There was one person that said that they didn’t like my voice while another person that said that my arms and my legs should be cut off so that I could know what my plants felt like when I propagated them...so realistic speaking I was at a point where I firmly believed (and I still do) that my channel is simply not for everyone and if my videos proved to be more frustrating to watch than beneficial I would much rather have them find a channel that is more suitable for them...and I believe that is exactly what you did by focusing on channels such as Danny’s that were more of what you needed. You expressed yourself clearly and I can respect that and you should also respect the fact that at that time what you were suggesting was not something I was willing to do and that was a decision that was completely mine to make. So it ishould be a closed chapter, right? You have moved on and so have I. Wishing you the best and Happy Holidays!

No thank you for expressing how you felt in a constructive manner...this is a prime example of how we heal and how we mend. I at the time did not know that my advice of finding another channel that was suitable for you had offended you and I am sure you were not in the know of some of the destructive criticism that I was enduring at the time. With this dialogue we were able to better understand each other and where we were coming from and can walk away from this conversation sincerely wishing each other well. PS you are quite the busy person with your hands in everything. I am happy to hear that you have filled your life with the things that keep you the most happiest and that you have created such a beautiful world in which to live. I am also excited to hear that you are on your way to stepping up to some of the challenges in your life to becoming a better person. Remember even little steps daily will bring you such a long way.
