- This video is kindly sponsored by ComGrow. Together with Carlos from Retro Upgrade I take a look at the ComGo Z1 Laser. After assembling the laser we test it by cutting and engraving some images. Then we take a look at using the laser to make PCBs

Hi Richard it was my pleasure was really fun as always , thanks alot for the shoutout 😁
Heya nice review for this laser printer/cutter and nice collaboration
Well done getting it going reliably.. I read some amazon reviews from folk struggling to do the same. Keep up the great work 😀👍
Loved the looney joke Richard!
These things are typically bought by people with 3D printers who are familiar with this type of assembly ( v-slots and T-nuts ) and poor instructions and as you discovered there is usually a guide on the memory stick/card😀
I would recommend getting a fune exhaust system when using a laser engraver due to the fumes generated during operation. I would even suggest getting better glasses to protect one's precious eyes when the engraver is in operation.
The supplied glasses completely block out the laser, it is not visible at all with the glasses on so I would expect they are good enough
Hi, You are right about the fumes :D, couldn't have the shroud on while filming but i am looking into designing a fan mount to flexible ducting , for the outlet port of the shroud . Will probably use 1 or 2 120mm fans maybe in a push pull configuration to get a little more static pressure .
but thanks for the suggestions to keep us safe 😉
@@RetroUpgrade Have to be careful of long-term effects. May not notice any immediate effect. The hood is good to contain the fumes but still has to get the fumes either outside or through a series of filters like activated carbon etc.
@@LearnElectronicsRepair The thing is there are a variety of lasers out there some of which operate in the infrared spectrum which is not visible to the naked eye. This particular one is 445 mm which is blue light. Do those supplied glasses wrap around on the sides?
Concur re an exhaust / extraction system, especially when cutting / engraving plastics which can produce benzyne and hydrogen chloride (which produces hydrochloric acid in air). Many fumes are carcinogenic.
