You have me scratching my head with the subscriber and likes conundrum. I am always talking you up at my monthly modeling meetings as a modeler to follow. I find your models are very well done and I am always impressed. I am always borrowing my friends copy of magazines with your articles in them. As for the dislikes, I have always been told that if you have nothing good to say then say nothing at all. Very interesting releases coming. As I mentioned in your video on the Ki-43 release that the stash is pretty heavy with 1/48 and the old 1/32 Hasegawa kit. The LaGG-3 is a favorite of mine too. I have a couple of the 1/72 Toko kits and the 1/48 ICM kit again in the stash. Thanks for the heads up on the Mig ATOM video. Yes, I am trying to get away from lacquers. I really enjoyed your Mig-17F video series. As a side note, I am always curious when you mention flying and Saudi Arabia as I was in Saudi Arabia as aircraft maintenance at the capital city of Riyadh during Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I am looking at the size of my comment and it looks like I'm waffling. Keep putting out the great content. P.S. looking for to the Provost.
Thanks mate, and thanks for the support. I used to fly from the airfield in the middle of the city, what used to be the old airport so I wonder if that's the same one?

Hi jamie, i think all the content you put up for us modellers is fantastic. i for one appreciate all what you show us and always look forward to your videos. and yes, 😮you should have a lot more subscribers as you deserve it, mate. cheers Gary 🇬🇧
Subscribers/views ratio? My ha’peth worth. I subscribe to many, many modelling channels. Some I watch for the modelling and techniques, some for the models, some for bit of both, some to be entertained (eg. Gary Bottoms - a great laugh and a good modeller), some for modelling products etc. If other modellers are like me I’m not surprised with the ratio.
I had a little bit of experience with trying to grow a UA-cam a couple of years back. A lot of it was luck based, eg the first video I made on Buccaneers in the Gulf War got 50,000 views pretty quickly after a few months of stagnated growth, and a few others have followed, but I stayed at 2-3,000 subscribers which never seemed to grow quickly. True I got influxes in the subscriber count when one video popped off, but my subscriber count was always a tenth of the views on a video. I think people will subscribe if they want to keep track of your progress, or like many, are a fan of the projects and videos that you make and want to hear from you regularly. From my own experience, forgetting all about the algorithm bollocks like viewer retention and flashy clickbait nonsense, and just posting consistently, growth will always come no matter how delayed. I also remember trying not to actively pursue subscribers, but I still mentioned it at the start of every video. When I occasionally look back at the old videos, it seems a bit weird, like I am begging for people to subscribe, so I probably wouldn't bother nowadays if I were to restart video making. The UA-cam part of this hobby really confuses me, as there are for example builds out there of F-35s which, not to be offensive are clearly far below your standard of production, yet these videos get the attention of loads of people and half a million views for example. It is really odd. But I think the bulk of people who watch these videos aren't actually in the hobby and are just coming in to look at this model video. In other words, most of the viewers don't build scalemodels. I also think there is a big gap to be filled, as people like Nightshift, Plasmo and Scale-A-Ton upload every few months, so someone with good production quality, and frequent uploads could contest their spots, or perception as the best in the hobby on UA-cam. There's a whole different debate on stylised finishes too, which is why I love your work so much. I have noticed Nighshift step back IMO from the finishes he was doing pre-youtube. Nowadays it is just extremely stylised, not realistic. But, he knows what he is doing and its not my business so... I pray that if you become UA-cam 'famous', you won't do this 😄. I think a lot of people here love the work that you do Jamie and I know that with time, some videos will just pop off and a load of people will subscribe to see your content. I wish you were more active on instagram, there's a nice community there 😄
I've always enjoyed your videos Jamie and I appreciate your approach to this, i.e. it's because you enjoy it and it's sharing the experience versus trying to garner a ton of subscribers. What I might suggest, however, is that you perhaps limit some of the non series discussion of models you plan on showing in build videos, to simple, short updates, and refrain from showing the completed model until the final reveal on the build series. If you discuss at length all the work you're doing and show the completed model before the release of those videos, then you have, for at least a subset of viewers, taken away one of the reasons they might otherwise view those videos.
Hi Carl. I see where you're coming from but I think it's one thing talking about them, and another seeing it take shape on the videos. I'll ponder further, thanks for the input.
I think that's probably right for the previous gen of acrylics, but the ATOM Early WWII RAF set has generic 'Brown' for Dark Earth and 'IJA Nakajima Green' for Dark Green - both a long way off.

The reason I think that your channel should have more views (and subscribers) is that you've got a lot of expertise and experience to share with the modelling community. For whatever reason, you don't have the sort of numbers that I'd expect you to have and I think that's a loss to the community. Any way to increase views would be great in my opinion. I left a comment on that Atom video saying that I love the paints but I've been disappointed with their 'RAF' colours (or rather their substitutes) - really good of someone to quickly reply and say that they'd pass the comment on.

And yet, yes, they seem to get a load of views. I've actually referred to this several times on my page, sub standard models and videos being uploaded on UA-cam. In saying that there's a lot of solid modellers uploading simple build videos that are great and full of useful content. All I can really think of is that some people might prefer to watch simpler builds as that might be what they are looking for. Now, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, far from it.
