Feb 28, 2020, I came upon an unopened bottle of Cannemara in late my father-in-laws booze cabinet. I am the whiskey drinker in the entire family so I hoarded this bottle and am sipping this for the first time. LOVELY, sweet smooth and a nice underlying blast of smokey peat that doesn’t overpower the gentle sweet flavor of this Whiskey. Every sip of this Whiskey will be in honor of my father-in-law, May he Rest In Peace 🙏
I found an airline bottle in my grandma's liquor cabinet (she had several mini airplane size bottles she wanted to get rid of) and it was phenomenal. It certainly did have some nice campfire notes, overall it reminded me of s'mores (of you're not from America that's campfire-toasted marshmallows with chocolate between honey graham crackers). IMO it's not my go-to sipper (that'd be Jameson, in the same way Guinness is my go-to stout) but it's definitely one of the best whiskies that Ireland has to offer.
@@skraegorn7317 what's campfire toasted? Lol
I just bought a bottle from a local store and the plastic seal was in place but unsealed so i cannot know if someone has opened the bottle or what has happened. I haven't tried it yet but I smelled it and it smells nothing like any whiskey I've tried before and I'm not an expert but have tried a few. But the smell strongly reminds me of something very recognizable but I'm not fully sure what but I think it may be Vicks Vapor Rub. Is that how it's supposed to smell you guys?
absolutely wonderful in the winter if you live in the Northern latitudes.
quite popular in France
ps : not sure you uploaded the full video
Just purchased this Connemara. Love it! For me it's very close to Highland Park 12 scotch. Love them both. First peated Irish whiskey I've had.
A sweet buttery peated treat! Only one market in my area carries this so I have to stock up. Great video👍
if you add a drip of whater to this one it becomes more smokey, spectacular! Try it, you will be amazed how it changes… just one drip 💧
Just picked up a bottle and it punches waaay above it's weight class for the price and taste.
Why does this video look like it was cut short?
I was just looking into this whisky ! Thx for reviewing it :D
What glass are you using ?
Horst, you are a very handsome man, I must admit.
My favorite Irish. It's over 40€ here in Finland.
and 23 in Bulgaria, today there is even a discount to 18
€35-40 in Ireland
My favorite Irish, shame it's so expensive here in Canada.
I live near quebec and it's only $50 there. So depending on where in Canada you live you can get it cheaper :)
@@cirusfastlegs Out here on the West Coast I could only find one liquour store that stocks it. Bought a bottle @ $65.
Lovely whiskey for a budget 40% whiskey.
They use Islay peated barley, apparently, which is a bit of a disappointment.
Peated whiskey being an Irish thing rather than Scottish thing historically, so would love to see is there a difference between the original and the more contemporary Scottish stuff.
Thought Connemara was on the upper west coast of Ireland?
You are correct!
It’s a called an Irish whiskey because it’s produced in Ireland, but it’s double distilled, and pure malt, so it’s more Scottish in nature. But it does have a slight honey note associated with Irish whiskeys.
Also too bad it’s chill filtered and coloured, and only 40%, but it’s really worth the money. Especially ideal for people who already drink whisky, but haven’t really had much experience with smokey whiskies. It’s not too smokey, but has an herbal peaty note in it. Less so than Bowmore, but it’s there. It’s also a little spicey.
It’s matured not too long, so the smoke is quite fresh, but not too short either, so the taste is still deep enough to be interesting (opposed to e.g. Arbeg Wee Beastie).
Worth a try for everyone!
Try the Turf Mor version if you like peat...
It is definitely not in the low 20 euro range. Sorry Horst but the lowest I could find this one in Ireland is €35.
Was it worth buying?? 🤔
Its 20€ in Germany
@@BG-oj6zt It's okay if you like young peaty whiskeys.
@@GaminGusTav I forgot that we get screwed in Ireland with tax and everything.
@@Mr.M1STER That's crazy. We pay 23 euro for this Irish whiskey in The Netherlands.
Always so stingy on the dose!!!
The original isn't a single malt.... also connemara is a region not a park
The bottle states : single malt ...
There is also a national park called Connemara.
Green is hard to reproduce in offset printing..?!?! ROFLLLL...
???what are you talking about.....
One of the worst whisk(e)ys I’ve ever tasted - very thin body and too bitter so much so that bitterness overbears whatever the light sweetness it has.
Thanks...
Whiskey, for people who aren’t complex enough for wine and champagne.
I love wine, but your statement is a bullshit.
Champagne and wine. A drink so not complex its the thing 13 year old girls start their drinking career from.
Interesting thread honestly
Stopped watching this guy because of all those disgusting noises he makes.
Wait till you find out he's the Hannibal in his free time.
