@@Chartify Puss in Boots didn't make much money, though. It's already forgotten in the mainstream so I don't understand why UA-camrs keep this charade up? You live in your own reality
If you had told me this would happen back between 1998 and 2000, I'd have said you were crazy to even suggest that Dreamworks could ever not only equal but outperform Disney. That's not to say that Prince of Egypt or Antz weren't great but Prince was clearly working within the framework of the Disney Renaissance (mostly borrowing elements from Hunchback and maybe Aladdin) whereas Antz was practically a doppelganger to Bug's Life and was most likely the product of Katzenberg's corporate espionage. But what Shrek started in 2001 as a parody of the Disney Renaissance genre Bad Guys and Last Wish have taken it one step further and redefined the kids' movie genre - "reinvented the wheel" so to speak - they arguably have counterparts in the form of Zootopia or Encanto but neither DreamWorks film chases the same aesthetic or tries to copycat what worked for Disney and rather do very much their own thing and succeed on their own visceral level. And the crazy thing I don't even think the Dreamworks team has even reached its peak yet (whereas I strongly suspect Disney is going to try to catch lightning in a bottle twice with Encanto and won't succeed and will churn out more Strange Worlds or Turning Reds).
Some people still think the first PiB animation style is better. But I really cannot see any scene in the first PiB movie that came close to any fight scene in PiB 2. Like man, the first giant fight? Banger. The first battle with Death? Awesome. The final battle with Death? Phenomenal!
The Last Wish, has genuinely been the best film I’ve seen in years. And I have recommended it to everyone I know, because Dreamworks really hit this outa the park!
Considering we had Top Gun, the Bad Guys, Dragon Ball Super Hero, Sonic 2 and Bullit Train all last year, I'm really doubting that "years" part of your comment. It's among the best in recent and distant memory, though, and may be the best 2023 has to offer.
I'd say The Bad Guys was the herald that DreamWorks is beginning its renaissance, and for a new property, it did phenomenal. The Bad Guys had stiff competition on opening weekend; it came out while Sonic 2 and Fantastic Beasts 3 were still in theaters, and it managed to be #1 at the box office for two weeks before Dr. Strange 2 swooped in. For me personally, it reminded me of why I love animation so much after not seeing an animated film that clicked with me for so long. I'm hoping people currently praising The Last Wish that haven't seen The Bad Guys go back and give it a watch too.
Well, to be fair, with disney being more interested in politics than making entertaining movies, dreamworks has a golden opportunity and they captalized. Disney is currently in a freefall collapse, good chance we won’t hear anything good out of them for at least another 5 years.
I think its 2010 with Tangled that Disney got their revival. their New and improved art style from Tangled was later used for a lot of different disney movies like Frozen, Moana, wreck it Ralph, Enchanto etc. Tangled was The real Revival of disney
Im not an animation expert, neither do i know the way dreamworks did the animation, But to me it looks like the budget was so smaller that disney is because they didnt go the “as good looking and as real as posible” way. Puss in boots looks amazing, because it heavilly stylized… so i feel like maybe this lead to lower budget, because you are not making something perfect you are making something fun Just my opinion i dont know…
You're right! I'm not an animation expert either, but I did some art in the past, so I have kind of an idea. Anyway, I've watched some youtubers talk about the animation in Puss in Boots, and they mentioned that Dremaworks has been doing some "alterantive" animation lately, even Bad Guys are not traditional animaiton - and these reviewers said that this trend started with Into the Spiderverse. So, I looked into it a little, and before Spiderverse, the trend in animation really was to make everything look much more realistic, all 3D and stuff, even to the point that it lost the magic of animation and it all just looked the same (in my opinion). Compare the characters in Frozen 2, Encanto, Raya, etc. - they all look like they could be from the same movie! Dreamworks, on the other hand, has started to do some really original, distinct animation styles.
Honestly, I think Disney failing last year was deserved I thoroughly enjoyed The Bad Guys and Puss In Boots The Last Wish is now one of my favorite films ever, no joke I loved Turning Red but Lightyear which I saw in theatres was pretty disappointed by and Strange World which I was unmotivated to go see in theatres by the trailers not convincing me, and I'm happy that I decided to wait until it came out on Plus as I forgot about it less than a week after I saw it.

Hopeful we see more films like Puss in Boots 2 from Dreamworks moving forward and hopefully other studios will use that as inspiration to improve. All hail Dreamworks Animation ❤ for creating a masterpiece in Puss in Boots 2.
This is the only animated movie that made me shed a tear after Toy Story 3. This is what happens when you prioritize wonderful stories than pushing an agenda. Bravo Dreamworks
I am happy. Puss in Boots has been my favorite Dreamworks character since I saw Shrek 2 as a kid. I'm glad it was a good movie. Hope to see more of Dreamworks because I am ready.
Normally I would absolutely despise it if big movie making companies made unneeded rehashes of their older successful movies/franchises, but in this case I honestly wouldn’t mind. If Dreamworks wants to add on to the Shrek franchise with movies this high quality, then go right ahead
Good point, kind of neglected that. You can slide in other movies like Terminator Dark fate, Aladdin, Thor Ragnarok (a little over $200M), and Mission Impossible Fallout. It was just to get the gist that Disney paid A LOT to make lightyear and strange world.
@@SeasonalGFilms Well now that Puss' character development is seemingly over, the third installment would either have to focus on another character, or it'd probably be worse than the last wish

What is usually left out talking about movie budget is also the marketing which is not included. As far as i know many movies cost more than what we think
Well I will say Disney decade definitely destroyed Dreamworks in terms of box office and critical acclaim. Disney released frozen, big hero 6, Moana, wreck it Ralph, frozen, and Zootopia and those made billions of dollars
Dreamworks really woke up, make two movies with half the budget of Disney movies, made them look wonderful unlike Disney, got mad money, and one of the movies was competing against Avatar 2, a TOP FIVE HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIES OF ALL TIME.
Disney is trying to push Modern real world agendas through their recent movies which the audience wants forget about these subjects while watching a movie. Dreamworks and others understands this and wants to fully entertain the audience while subtly having moral teachings sprinkled in such as many of Pixar’s first movies had done. I unfortunately haven’t liked a Pixar movie since Toy Story 4 for this reason, no longer entertaining, but pushing things on people instead. Great video, I fully agree 😊
All I hope for is that if they are continuing the Shrek franchise they include the bears and Goldie. They were the second/third best thing about the movie and there chemistry was amazing. Please DreamWorks include them in the Shrek movie or maybe there own movie.
Yea, Disney is getting too political and is trying too hard to please people. The most obvious one for me is how _hard_ Disney is trying to impress on the Lgbtq community. The reason why it worked for TOH is because Luz and Amity's relationship is a very important part of the series and it's done well. For LightYear and Strange World, they're showing and/or mentioning a queer character and are like LOoK GaY ChArACtEr ArEN't wE So hiP?! You could change the sexuality/gender or (depending on the importance of the character) completely remove them and it wouldn't change anything. They throw a lot of stereotypes into the characters as well. When it is mentioned, it's always like, for a second or two. Disney doesn't have the balls to make it feel natural, it's so forced. And this is coming from someone who's in the lgbt community herself. And to clarify, you don't need a queer character to have a good story. All the characters could be straight and cis and that wouldn't hurt anything. Hell, you could have no relationships whatsoever and it wouldn't hurt. If they're all queer characters, that's fine, just represent it well by not making it a big deal unless that's the premise of the story. (Like a couple queer characters trying to hide their relationship from strict families).
3:30 considering most of the ratings are 1 star and also considering what kind of controversy the movies stirred up, I wouldn't trust the stats there too much. Big corporations can't leave the mainstream at all anymore without getting bombarded lmao (not like it's a bad thing, I'm all for Disney imploding)
I think one day Disney will come back on top with Toy Story 5, because in the franchise there’s not a single movie I would call bad, except maybe Lightyear. But these types of movies combined make crazy amounts of money worldwide in the box office. Especially Zootopia which has a huge following so big win for it getting a sequel, it might be good.
The thing that sticks out to me the most about the The Last Wish is that it's honestly a very average movie compared to titles that were coming out in the early to mid 2000's, and yet it's such a refreshing return to form for the industry that it feels like a massive step up. I think this is largely due to the movie keeping things simple and to the point when it can, and only introducing as much complexity as it needs to. It doesn't feel the need to overindulge in meta pop culture references or political activism. It's just a well written story in the style of The Hero's Journey, and is done in a way that makes it timeless and easy to recommend rewatching years and even decades down the line eventually.
Agreed. Diversity and good values is more of a byproduct of good storytelling and can enhance movies if done properly. But when forcing it, and revolving the entire movie around that one premise, puts a lot of people off.
@Kit I think your response is a bit too emotional and not so rational. I have not talked about gay people. To give an example, in the Disney movie from 2022 Strange World, the characters live surrounded by mountains. They are a small population with no contact with anyone beyond the mountains and the main driver of the movie is to pass those mountains. However, the characters are white, black, indians, asian (chinese), native americans and aborigines from Australia. Disney advertises the movie as the most "diverse" movie, but to me it breaks suspension in disbelief. Disney is forcing all those skin colors but in any case, those people do not represent any culture, struggle, differences in thinking... they are plain characters, whose skin has been re-colored for people to feel safe. The same happens with the gay kid. Are you telling me that absolutely nobody ever around him has had any issue? Not even his grandfather, who has been lost in the mountains for 25 years. Not a single one person. I am sorry, but I think Disney just appears with a magic wand and say "you are gay, you are lesbian, you are black" to plain characters just to create noise. They could have shown a gay character that connects with gay audiences, that represent them. But they didn't do that. When a big company just changes skin colors randomly, and sexual orientations, but the characters remain the same, and the company advertises those changes... they are forcing the diversity in the movie
@Kit Oh, and btw, characters like Willow in Buffy or like Santana or Kurt in Glee, are well constructed gay characters and I am a huge fan of their storytelling, their characters, and their growth. I just don't get how a black person sees Wakanda Forever and does not feel insulted, or a gay person sees Strange World and does not see the money grabbing company behind, that is dressing themselves with rainbow colors while selling toxicity to everyone...
@@don_goku Yeah you can just see it written across their face like "I'm different so i can use it as an excuse if anyone doesn't like this film, also *M O N E Y"*

Dreamworks isn't trying to advertise skin color, politics and shit. They want to do something different and are trying to entertain both kids and adults, not try to pander to children with propaganda and that's what Disney is doing. I won't be surprised that Disney is so pissed about this and yet, Dreamworks is Disney's competitor. BTW, this might be irrelevant, but what music did you use because I actually would want to play that while animating because I'm an indie animator (not advertising myself, just giving you a reason).
You’re exactly right! Disney is pushing modern day agendas, while other companies are still focused on entertaining in which Disney forgets that’s why they started as a company
@@grantemmert2784 The people running Disney are ones with sick twisted minds and support grooming/pedo behavior. If Disney wanted to teach children that it's OK to be gay, The Owl House for example had a scene played out where the relationship between these two girls or something played out naturally and didn't feel forced. I haven't seen the show, but I can say that don't just have one personality where it's about gay people kissing, gay people wearing tongs, gay people harassing others and hating on straights or something like that. They're treating gay people as if they're stereotypes and this is how they act. They canceled The Owl House because it doesn't fit their political ideologies on how they see people with different sexualities. The same thing can be said about the reason why sometimes, black artists are being let go by companies because it doesn't fit what the company sees them. They see black people as being hip, having ghetto voices and starting fights. They aren't trying to make them human and are feeding propaganda to young children because children are curious about something once they are born and they will mimic the actions they see on TV. They see children as being brainless which is why they love to manipulate them. Hell, they did the same shit with women in this modern age which is why there are narcissistic women with positions of power in this world. People like Mindy Kaling is willing to get away with making a mean spirited cartoon that is made with the intention of pissing people off because it's HER show and she got away with sexual assaulting a guy because she's attractive to white males but yet talks shit about white people. And people who did call her out would be fired. Her words, not mine. She said this in a James Cordon show or something.
Anyone that forces that shit into a narrative makes it a automatic fail. Nobody wants to go into a movie and see real life problems they want a break from reality to see a original story. That's what made movies special to tell a story they wouldn't of predicted to happen.
I appreciate the editing, timing, and overall vibe of this video and think the style you have is in general a good one. That being said, I feel like you spent the whole video hyping up how well this movie did and how it did all that with a lower budget, and then you get to the point where you explain what made the difference and its just "The reason this movie did well is because its a good movie.".... That kind of feels like watching a documentary on a sprinter or Marathon runner only to have the climax of the movie be, "He won the races because he ran fast." You touched on some things later in the video like their style being cheaper and some praise you had for the character and story, but that was all super brief and going back to the running analogy felt like the equivalent of saying "He ran fast because his legs moved fast." Maybe that wasn't the point of the video and the whole point of it was to just show the trend of dreamworks doing better for cheaper, but the way you paced and focused the video felt like it needed some more explanation on what made the movie good and not just that it was because the rotten tomato's score says so.
I watched both Dreamworks movies in theater. The two mentioned Disney movies on the other hand, despite the fact that I have access to Disney+, I haven't bothered with watching.
How is your subscriber count so low?? My man you deserve a lot more because I loved this style of video and you laid out everything really well. Best of luck to you!
The beat part is that Disney doesn't even see the problem. They blamed their poor box office numbers on covid, which proves they are quite out of touch and/or are in denial about their mistakes
DreamWorks is on an absolute roll with their latest films, and if the Mario Movie is anything to go by, even Illumination seems to be entering a renaissance of sorts. Disney really needs to step up their game if they want to compete with these two.
Great Video. I think you should also mention Sony animation as well. What they've done with spider verse and some of their other animated films is incredible. The fact that Dreamworks and Illumination are both under Disney's biggest rival right now, Universal I think is hilarious. That Illumination, Dreamworks. SONY and even WB Animation are embarrassing Disney. Lets not even mention the potential of the Mario Movie, that could be a huge hit, boosting Nintendo Land even more. We know Disney doesn't want that. Good. They've grown too complacent, they havent had competition in a while and these companies finally smell blood in the water.
It's just a shame that I find that bad guys was forgettable story wise .... I forgot it existed until you mentioned it. Puss in boots is the opposite, it is memorable and fun to talk about
1:23 "And the new movie looks way better than the original [In my Opinion]" It's not just your opinion, that's a straight up fact. Even disregarding the creative cinematography, there were times it was genuinely fooling me into thinking it was actually real footage. The fidelity on some of the shots is so high that it's better than reality, and the inventive animation only makes it even better to watch. I go to watch animated films to see what kind of crazy things an animator can pull off, first, not whatever story they can cram into a couple hours.

It is possible cause all lightyear did was remind older Toy Story viewers like me of buzz lightyear of Star command that felt more like what Andy could have watched that made him want the toy that his mom ultimately got him for his birthday cause in the UA-cam reviews Star command got brought up as a comparison to how to do a good buzz spinoff and make it feel like part of the franchise even though the animation was 2d instead of 3d like the movies and strange world felt like journey to the center of the earth set on an alien planet that only helped it visually

Yep. Saw both Avatar 2 and Puss in Boots 2, and while Avatar definitely looks great, Puss in Boots wins by a lightyear. Overal better story, characters, and the spiderverse-inspired animation style fits the style of the movie, with its many fightscenes.
Dreamworld fought their ass off to get to where they are and we were rooting for them. And now that Disney’s down fall is more obvious, I think child actors and smaller businesses under their name are going to wave the flags of freedom soon.
I'll bet that many people bought it on digital download because it was only $5 more than a rental, and still went to see it in theatres AFTER watching at home.
What’s even crazier is that when adjusted for inflation PIB1 actually costed $170mil to make in today’s money - so PIBTLW actually costed nearly HALF as much as the first one while still looking way better than the original ever did 🤯
“Maybe if Strange World was advertise enough, it would’ve been better!” And yet, the reaction and opinions of the movie remains the same. I’m so glad people went from “strange world is underrated because Disney have no faith in it!” to “actually, the movie was ok, boring and by the numbers, but ok enough for a family movie”.
I’m so glad Dreamworks is leaving their phase of mediocre baby movies and is starting to make actually good and beautiful movies like they did in the early 2000s. That cannot be said for Disney as they are constantly playing it safe and with a lot of sequels being released, things are going to keep going down the drain.

100% agree
Wow you wrote a lot and I like it, keep up the good work
I actually thought turning red was really good but would have made more sense as a limited tv series or smth
Prince of Egypt will forever be a masterpiece, personally my favorite DreamWorks film
Oh dear you really out here writing an entire paragraph.
“And it looks way better than they original(opinion)” MY man that is the truth
I seriously hope they continue to use this style for future projects!
Some people still think the first PiB animation style is better. But I really cannot see any scene in the first PiB movie that came close to any fight scene in PiB 2. Like man, the first giant fight? Banger. The first battle with Death? Awesome. The final battle with Death? Phenomenal!
@@mythicaldragon4354 I love how the sword movements look.

The Last Wish, has genuinely been the best film I’ve seen in years. And I have recommended it to everyone I know, because Dreamworks really hit this outa the park!
They did!
Considering we had Top Gun, the Bad Guys, Dragon Ball Super Hero, Sonic 2 and Bullit Train all last year, I'm really doubting that "years" part of your comment.
It's among the best in recent and distant memory, though, and may be the best 2023 has to offer.
Same here man. This movie has the best cinematic personification of Death I've seen since Anton Chigur from No Country for Old Men. It's that good
I'd say The Bad Guys was the herald that DreamWorks is beginning its renaissance, and for a new property, it did phenomenal.
I definitely will, I've wanted to watch The Bad Guys ever since it came out, but I've not had the time for it.
In other words, disney had their revival back in the 80s and 90s, Now it dreamworks turn
OH YEAH!!!
Their 80's movies weren't that successful. If my memory is good I think was a dark age for Disney.
@@timexyemerald6290 some say The Princess And The Frog in 2009 began the 2nd renaissance
Im not an animation expert, neither do i know the way dreamworks did the animation,
But to me it looks like the budget was so smaller that disney is because they didnt go the “as good looking and as real as posible” way.
Puss in boots looks amazing, because it heavilly stylized… so i feel like maybe this lead to lower budget, because you are not making something perfect you are making something fun
Just my opinion i dont know…
You're right!
Honestly, I think Disney failing last year was deserved
I thoroughly enjoyed The Bad Guys and Puss In Boots The Last Wish is now one of my favorite films ever, no joke
I loved Turning Red but Lightyear which I saw in theatres was pretty disappointed by and Strange World which I was unmotivated to go see in theatres by the trailers not convincing me, and I'm happy that I decided to wait until it came out on Plus as I forgot about it less than a week after I saw it.
Agreed, we shall see what the future holds
@@Chartify Trolls 3 is from what I heard the only DreamWorks film coming out this year, let's hope it doesn't automatically take away the hope of audiences from after 2022
This puts a huge smile on my face. Dreamworks deserved this after making one of the best animated films I’ve seen in years.
Bravo Dreamworks
damn, early 2000s nostalgia is so big now that we're rebooting the "disney screwing up and DreamWorks eating their lunch" era.
I am happy. Puss in Boots has been my favorite Dreamworks character since I saw Shrek 2 as a kid. I'm glad it was a good movie. Hope to see more of Dreamworks because I am ready.
I'm ready too
This aged worse than milk
Normally I would absolutely despise it if big movie making companies made unneeded rehashes of their older successful movies/franchises, but in this case I honestly wouldn’t mind. If Dreamworks wants to add on to the Shrek franchise with movies this high quality, then go right ahead
2:27 Adjusted to inflation, the budget if these films ranges from $230 million to $365 million.
Good point, kind of neglected that. You can slide in other movies like Terminator Dark fate, Aladdin, Thor Ragnarok (a little over $200M), and Mission Impossible Fallout. It was just to get the gist that Disney paid A LOT to make lightyear and strange world.
I'm liking how there are more and more teams working on story. Story is important and these companies are noticing.
This!

The only thing animated recently that I saw that was fantastic was Girls und Panzer das Finale part 3. The Girls und Panzer franchise is excellent at show don't tell, and their characters are perfect! Despite the cast being very large, all of the girls are very memorable and likeable.
I 100% agree!
Good movies make good money ! I'm shocked !
Indeed!
I didn't even knew about light year lmao
Imagine if it had made more money than Avatar 2. Sadly that's a ridiculous fantasy, but like Puss in Boots 2 is much better in my opinion.
I think one day Disney will come back on top with Toy Story 5,
because in the franchise there’s not a single movie I would call bad, except maybe Lightyear.
But these types of movies combined make crazy amounts of money worldwide in the box office.
Especially Zootopia which has a huge following so big win for it getting a sequel, it might be good.
Disney is far too absorbed with pushing politics in their movies to be able to create quality content.
I rarely even watch movies but I bought it because it was so good!
GET WOKE GO BROKE
As some comments mentioned, Disney is tanking because they care more about forced diversity than actual storytelling
@@don_goku Is plain = white people?
As a black guy it would be nice for a black character to just exist within the story defined just by their personality and actions. As we do in real life exist, not just for the sake of politics. I'd be happy if they were just added in the story as an actual interesting character rather than pushing a message all the time granted them being there makes sense within the story's setting.
I honestly feel as if Dreamwork may be at te start of a new era. They made on solid and fun movie and one cinematic masterpiece
to be honest i think the main reason for success was death
i think his level on antagonist is on par with light yagami from "death" note
and yes the pun is intended
Dreamworks isn't trying to advertise skin color, politics and shit. They want to do something different and are trying to entertain both kids and adults, not try to pander to children with propaganda and that's what Disney is doing. I won't be surprised that Disney is so pissed about this and yet, Dreamworks is Disney's competitor. BTW, this might be irrelevant, but what music did you use because I actually would want to play that while animating because I'm an indie animator (not advertising myself, just giving you a reason).
Here's the link to the music: ua-cam.com/video/KGQNrzqrGqw/v-deo.html
Good Luck with animating!
That's what made movies special to tell a story they wouldn't of predicted to happen.
anxiety (puss), healthy relationships (puss and kitty), adopted (goldie) is also in the "woke" spectrum unless you don't know about it
I appreciate the editing, timing, and overall vibe of this video and think the style you have is in general a good one. That being said, I feel like you spent the whole video hyping up how well this movie did and how it did all that with a lower budget, and then you get to the point where you explain what made the difference and its just "The reason this movie did well is because its a good movie.".... That kind of feels like watching a documentary on a sprinter or Marathon runner only to have the climax of the movie be, "He won the races because he ran fast."
You touched on some things later in the video like their style being cheaper and some praise you had for the character and story, but that was all super brief and going back to the running analogy felt like the equivalent of saying "He ran fast because his legs moved fast."
Maybe that wasn't the point of the video and the whole point of it was to just show the trend of dreamworks doing better for cheaper, but the way you paced and focused the video felt like it needed some more explanation on what made the movie good and not just that it was because the rotten tomato's score says so.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll work on it!
I watched both Dreamworks movies in theater. The two mentioned Disney movies on the other hand, despite the fact that I have access to Disney+, I haven't bothered with watching.

IF this is the new DreamWorks renaissance
Now we can get Big Blue Brain 2 and rise of christmas people 2 (Rise of the Guardians)
The beat part is that Disney doesn't even see the problem. They blamed their poor box office numbers on covid, which proves they are quite out of touch and/or are in denial about their mistakes
Will it still be a renaissance when the third Boss Baby and Trolls comes out
Agreed, they’re just on the cusp of entering one right now. Just need a few more consecutive hits to be for sure.
I like Puss in Boots 2, but it's not a renaissance until they do it more than once in a row.
Dreamworks has dominated animation since the 2000s they have banger movies these past two decades they been destroying Disney
Gotta remember that in places like the UK it's only just came out
DreamWorks is on an absolute roll with their latest films, and if the Mario Movie is anything to go by, even Illumination seems to be entering a renaissance of sorts. Disney really needs to step up their game if they want to compete with these two.
Even Sony animation is stepping up there game with Spider Verse 2 coming out soon actually. Like in 3 months now
Great Video.

Puss in boots is the opposite, it is memorable and fun to talk about
Who would have guessed that good written movies are also more popular?
Definetely not Disney (except Encanto).
1:23 "And the new movie looks way better than the original [In my Opinion]"
It's not just your opinion, that's a straight up fact.
Ive been seeing cocomelon and other kids channel oj yt just as a curiosity and my god. Their animation have really risen very high. They are much better than some animation movies releasing today by big companies.
It's easy to see why that is: Puss In Boots 2 has QUALITY writing... among other things, of course. Disney, you're fired!
Now waiting for Megamind 2

So... what about Ruby Gillman??
For a film to break even, it generally needs to make double its budget back, so that only makes Lightyear and Strange World even more of failures.
I’m so glad that money gained is in proper accordance with quality
This new animation style is good. Let’s hope they keep it at least for a while
The Dreamworks revival
It is possible cause all lightyear did was remind older Toy Story viewers like me of buzz lightyear of Star command that felt more like what Andy could have watched that made him want the toy that his mom ultimately got him for his birthday cause in the UA-cam reviews Star command got brought up as a comparison to how to do a good buzz spinoff and make it feel like part of the franchise even though the animation was 2d instead of 3d like the movies and strange world felt like journey to the center of the earth set on an alien planet that only helped it visually
I'm just glad that we can get to see a movie like doing very well in the box office! If Disney was to compete against the likes of them, they would HAVE to change their ways of telling a story!..

I’m happy for Dreamworks. They’ve given Disney a run for it’s money once again.
Yup!
4:28 - Dreamworks and Illumination where just twice lucky. That dosen't mean that they will worthy succesors.
Dreamworld fought their ass off to get to where they are and we were rooting for them. And now that Disney’s down fall is more obvious, I think child actors and smaller businesses under their name are going to wave the flags of freedom soon.
I'll bet that many people bought it on digital download because it was only $5 more than a rental, and still went to see it in theatres AFTER watching at home.
if The Mario Movie is good and if Illumination releases another banger then I'm probably in the wrong universe
What’s even crazier is that when adjusted for inflation PIB1 actually costed $170mil to make in today’s money - so PIBTLW actually costed nearly HALF as much as the first one while still looking way better than the original ever did 🤯
Great video! Earned a sub
“Maybe if Strange World was advertise enough, it would’ve been better!”
And yet, the reaction and opinions of the movie remains the same. I’m so glad people went from “strange world is underrated because Disney have no faith in it!” to “actually, the movie was ok, boring and by the numbers, but ok enough for a family movie”.
DreamWorks is once again, rising from Disney's ashes.
Dreamworks had already topped Disney with The Prince if Egypt and then threw it all away
Disney has no plot of its story right now. They're more on money grabbers because of its popular animation studio.
I’m so glad Dreamworks is leaving their phase of mediocre baby movies and is starting to make actually good and beautiful movies like they did in the early 2000s. That cannot be said for Disney as they are constantly playing it safe and with a lot of sequels being released, things are going to keep going down the drain.
disney right now is in his EMO WOKE age
All recent Disney animated movies look the same stylistically, and i hate it
The reason why Dreamworks is surpassing disney is because disney is always in it for a cash grab whereas theres actual artists in dreamworks that are commited to their work even if it means taking risks. Disneys just corporation material. (Except encanto)
I saw it in theater, then immediately went home and bought it.
Can't argue with that!
It's really weird to me that the first puss in boots had a higher budget than the second but it just looks way worse? I mean it doesn't look bad but in compression to the second?!
i believe the team worked overtimes for free and willingly just to double chek every frame of the movie
