Nate has the dark smile painted on his face because people always tell him to be happy so he puts that on to put up a fake smile
they tell him to me less negative. That's the line in The Search: "Look at me everybody, I'm smiling big!" and also the search album got trashed by the media saying it was too negative. In PAID MY DUES he addresses this.

The only one that I was ever aware of was just the 1 journalist who was working for The Rollin Stones & that’s where his article was published online. If I remember correctly it was bc he was a HUGE fan of Chance The Rapper, & his article was completely based upon his own personal bias opinion, not actual facts or even others opinions. Which is why Nate dug in so heavy ६ hard at the journalist in “Paid My Dues” which even the song title is a shot at the company “The Rolling Stones” because of the band ‘The Rolling Stones’ had a song with the name of “Pay Your Dues” aka “Did everybody pay their dues” I believe in the late 60’s (67-68-69, I can’t recall off top my head at the moment, sorry)
But if there was another or multiple other journalist who had a swing a Nate, I was unaware, in which I apologize for my initial response.

If you want to miss less things, you have to go back to his first song on his debut album intro #1 and do the whole journey. For example in the search he mentions there is something funny going on in his house. In the song mansion on the 1st album he explains more about his "house ".

The guys in the background are a representation of 1 people looking at you and watching your actions, and 2 the people that aren't real that Nate sees staring at him. My GF has all the same diagnosis as Nate and stated that this song and video are a perfect description to what she goes through every day minus the fame.

When he says he called someone and they said the song sucks he’s talking about the rap industry. In the beginning of the line he says “remember back in no name I said fame called?” No Name is a single that he made. Anyway NF isn’t accepted into the industry very much so that’s what this line is about
So like true art, Nate leaves a lot of his videos up for interpretation. I've watched probably a couple hundred reactions to this video and others and the best explanation I've found is that the people in white are people with problems that have been medicated for their issues. They usually only have no or a couple of balloons. Look at their faces in the video and especially the girl coming out of the door...look zombied/medicated. Nate talks about the issue in a couple songs, one being in the Search album where he should probably take medications, but he's afraid of what they will do to him. So he always stays in black. The hand reaching out at the end....God?...Nate giving his burdens over to God.
Hes not talking about the rap industry, he's talking about his Father. His Father was in the song "Let Me Go" . The same actor is in that music video as well. When he says fame called in reference is that he got popular and his Dad called him. Although he hates fame but it definitely was in reference to his Dad.
That's why there is a old man in a shopping cart with his burdens. His Father and him never had a good relationship.

Real story of the people day life, what can happen to everyone to us…
Notice how he never curses. I don’t care if a rapper does but respect when they can be this lyrical and not curse. It’s tricky because curse words become filler words or easy rhymes in newer rap
The fake smile started in Therapy Session. He called Fame back from his song NoName, fame said the song sucks because Nate doesn’t want fame. I think the people are at various stages of getting rid of their burdens and Nate gives a couple away at the end but not sure to whom

So underrated, listen to it whenever I need a mindset to experience.... CHANGE.
He wants to heal, but he doesn't want to lose who he is. He had a very tough childhood, his mother died of an overdose, and he was in a lot of foster care families, 9 if i remember right. He is constantly battling his own emotions and thoughts and trying to gain control of himself at a deeper level. I would listen to Mansion, Changes, Only, just like me, drifting, lost, outcast and his intro 1,2 and intro three, where he fights and kills fear metaphorically.
But also listen to Clouds, therapy session and paid my dues. All an important part to his story. To get a different perspective on what he can do, listen and watch the video for 'Story.' NF is a master of lyrics that resonate with the human experience, of anyone who is or has struggled with trauma, abuse or mental health issues.

I highly recommend that you take what is called the NF Journey. This is his 4th studio album, and they all tie together to tell his story, so this is kind of like starting a book on the 15th chapter.

The video was a few weeks ago but I’ve been too a few of his live shows and their amazing, I went front row in Las Vegas and he gave me his “burdens” at the end of the show.. still have them hanging up 🤍
The phone call he alludes to in verse 3 is a shout out to a single he put out a few years ago called “No Name”. Him sending this song was him saying “Leave Me Alone” to the caller. He’s telling “Fame” to leave him alone.
Just gotta say that the last 3 songs you’ve reacted to is like joining a movie halfway or near the end. You gotta start from the beginning bc NF is like a full on story/journey . His songs and albums tie together
On the song No Name about 1:02 in the song NF says "Fame Called said How you doing, Hung up on him I aint ready for it, I'll get back to that when I hit album four". In this song the man in the basket he was talking to was Fame (This is NF's fourth album) So after Fame waiting all this time NF sends him a song called Leave Me Alone, that is why the NF sings "Once he finally did, he said this song sucks" ...

I’d start at the beginning. Go all the way back to the mansion album, then make your way through. Therapy session, perception, the search, and then clouds. Make sure to catch his singles as well (warm up, no name) they don’t all tie into the same story, but many of them do, and he makes lots of references to his older songs in his new stuff. Lots of the shit he’s talking about makes more sense after you’ve heard at least his first two albums
Dude...TAKE THE JOURNEY! Start at the beginning Intro I. There's are lists out there that outline "the journey" but I just listened to every song. NF is freaking talented. And never curses.

In “The Ringer” (which im sure you’ve heard), he says “an effing clone” and people know Marshall isn’t afraid of dropping an F bomb so they think that “an effing” is supposed to be “NF”. Plus NF released “Returns” and says “Drop the T & A” (from the word “team”) and there’s more to it but it’s really interesting

Great reaction man. His album, The Search, is produced to be listened to in order. Than you have Paid My Dues which came out a couple of weeks after The Search. And recently he came out with a mixtape called Clouds. I would go through the search, as it is more emotional, than hit Paid My Dues and launch into Clouds. Clouds is way different than The Search, but probably even better. Keep it up!
I learned from listening to our UK friends that a black balloon represents someone lost to addiction. That's how NF lost his Mom.

This song is all about his mental health/ balloons burdens, but also fame. In verse 3, he talked to fame. It's also getting back to a reference in NO NAME when it says "Fame called me i'm like 'how you doin'?' hung up on him, I ain't ready for it I'll get back to that when I make album 4." The Search is NF's 4th album. Fast forward to this song and he says "remember back in NO NAME I said fame called? told you I hung up it kinda felt wrong. finally called him back we didn't talk long. He asked me how I been I sent him this song" This song of course saying "LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!!!!" as the chorus. My interpretation of the end is that he's giving some of his burdens to God although he said he can't let them go. NF is looking to his faith and God to help him figure out what he's searching for as well as how to let go of what is weighing him down mentally. Notice how NF never put on the white(not saying he wont) but to me that's a message and he keeps the black smile on but there is a point where he physically trying to wipe it of( Do do you remember the ending to When I grow up?) NF finishes his show and goes to the back to the bathroom and we see him look in the mirror as he wipes away the black smile
9:25 white fit is like people wearing the "goods" ppl in black is like wearing the "bads" to be different than people in "white" but nate himself is in "gray" wearing the bads and goods and being the "outcast" you should listen to that song too (side note) i think why people wearing the black and white acting like npc's is like how they are controlled by the system and wear the specific color (leftist and rightist) and they all have burden

The balloons are his burdens, the cart is the absolute minimal stuff we go through life with (like our identity, our memories, etc) around and probably the progression from the cage he was in during the Perception phase and then there is the fake smiles (representing the mask we all wear). This is relatable to everyone and represented by all the ppl in the video at different stages of their journey. Some have let go of some of their burdens (less or more balloons), some are in white with no painted on smile but the message is how our own thoughts keep us prisoned and scared to let go of our burdens and visage. Gotta finish the triology with WHY...and check out 'Just like you' from his mixtape (dropped recently and very different to the trilogy)....but everything from NF is FIRE!

Burdened people in black walking in with a change of heart. No one is perfect so even though they’re in white clothes, they still pick up these burdens, but they can give them away now since they found out who they need to go to in order to be free. It’s a message of salvation.

My take: The people wearing their darkness are going in to therapy and being cured but he can’t get rid of his issues because they make him who he is. He’s afraid of who he would be if he let his burdens go.
