You totally could've moved that boulder at 2:05 with your football arms.
Respect for self-control, deciding to stop and turn was the right thing to do. Common sense is rare these days, and people get killed going beyond their limits for Instagram, UA-cam, and other social media posts.

Good call on turning back. I'm surprised you made it as far as you did without microspikes. What an amazing adventure!

  • @IvorsTravels

Not worth the risk. It is always difficult to turn back after so much effort but knowing your limit and assessing the risk is so important to survival in sketchy situations. What you did walk before the mists rolled in was great. Summiting loses a lot of its pleasure in conditions like you experienced. Thanks for taking us along.

I love the bloopers! It reminds us how much work you do on these videos. It's not just on-the-fly. You're thinking far ahead of what you're going to do, say, and film.

Appreciate you recognizing that, Kristina! Kind of why I'm always exhausted physically, but also mentally at the end of the hike! lol! Take care!

Randy, You, your family and friends on this channel have been an incredible inspiration. One year ago I discovered this channel when I made plans to travel through the Blue Ridge Parkway and The Great Smokey Mountains. This "vacation" was a huge deal for me. Living in the east coast, I could only dream of seeing the great national parks out west. I never thought I would have the time and resources to travel that far. It was just a dream. Six months later I was able to make it out to the Badlands and it's surrounding areas. Now, 1 year later, I am hiking through the canyons of Zion! I don't think I would have had all these great experiences without your amazing videos on America's Parks. Thank you!

Snow season (winter)🥶 was really extended for you and Shane with this Washington/PNW trip. The wildflower meadows are spectacular! Very cinematic, awesome place too. I did intentionally slide down some steep snow, last season, gained too much speed, started bouncing and tore my biceps tension out of my forearm. . . It didn’t really slow me down much but a survey was required. . . 😕 I always carry an ultra light ice axe for early season conditions since then. Randy, come see tomorrow’s video, really special route in RMNP.
I went under contract a couple days ago to buy a little horse property in Grand Junction! Always a place for you if you want to stop by on your way to the desert or San Juans! Maybe do a tour in Monument again, heard about some great hikes! No more cat infested highway campsites necessary, lol!

Hey buddy, always nice to hear from you! Glad your adventures are going well and you are staying "relatively" healthy. :) Wow, appreciate the offer to stop by at your new place. Will totally keep that in mind. Find it funny how well this recent video of mine in doing - almost didn't upload it because the footage/time there was so limited. We did some great glissading at Rainier and St. Helens. Cat infested campsites... lol!

Randy, Well, you and Shane had quite the ascent on those switchback’s (that little mountain goat of yours does not seem to mind). I have never been to this hike, but looks like the trail is meant for later in the year. We did have more snowfall than normal here this year. Sorry about that boulder blocking the road! Loved the BLOOPERS! Excellent video and great job with the wildflowers and filming the fog. Excellent advice in knowing when to turn back! Still gave you an idea of the North Cascades without the vistas. THANKS TO YOU AND SHANE FOR TAKING US ON THIS HIKE, . . . Mike

I remember when I put out my video about 3 years ago you were telling me how impressed by this hike you were and you wanted to do it. I would recommend Kings mountain-Elk Mountain loop in the Tillamook National Forest in Oregon. I would make sure to hike Kings Mountain first, as Elk Mountain's elevation gain is similar to that of the last stretch of Mount Saint Helens (1.5 miles, 2k elevation gain), if not worse. The views are spectacular. The total loop is 10.8 miles, 3800 feet elevation gain. If you would like to do that, then I think hiking to the top of Multnomah Falls in the gorge would be a fun idea, and you can bring the crew up too. Beautiful views of the falls and gorge.
