At this point we know there are two USB-C ports. Jason Hill recently suggested there will be a 12-volt outlet in the trunk, possibly only if you order the camping kit. 3) "We plan to equip the vehicle with seat heaters. I hope you're right and that they have been sourced directly from Aptera. There's one mis-statement that I noticed: At 3:15 you state "The seats are designed to be super lightweight, strong, and safe but not without sacrificing comfort or styling." Your double negative ("not without") suggests they DID sacrifice comfort or styling which I don't think was your intent. (Drop the "not" and all is good.)

More buttons and knobs, physical controls! Our Tesla's screen controls are slow and not driver-friendly. At least there is one stalk for wiper control and turn signals. Great info. Thanks but I have a question about the wrap material. I know first hand that the standard wrap materials get damaged very easily. I also know that the newer PPF (paint protection film) wrap is way better and very durable compared to regular color change wrap film. The newer PPF wrap also comes in different colors now. I was wondering if someone knew what wrap material Aptera will be using? Thanks in advance.
The 12V outlet and USB ports are still listed as features on Aptera's website. I suspect they're hidden at the front of the center console behind the phone stand based on the latest Delta renders.
@@InstantTorqueYT Hope so. The video made it seem it was just a 12V outlet. I think all modern EVs should have a 120V outlet. I know manufacturers are probably wary of people using the battery to run space heaters and the like, and then the warranty is kind of weird (battery use vs. miles driven)
Do you know how much that trunk measures in linear, not cubic. Feet, as in: how long and how wide it is? I'm a musician wondering about hauling big instruments, e.g. a harpsichord.
I know Tesla owners reboot the system during driving ?? is that necessary or possible ? Hopefully the "system" features work and stay live - like the touch screen . . . hopefully.
Suspension is really good. The company developed it with Rousch. Potholes and speed bumps are non-issue. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the production-intent builds do real world testing on ice and snow. We've heard great things, but we want to see it!
Me too! To date there is only internal simulation data. Real world crash tests by a third party are expected to happen this year once the production intent vehicles are built out. The company is in the middle of systems integration and meeting funding objectives to build, test, and validate Delta. Great car, but the knock-out criterion for not ordering the car is the large touch screen. I hate the new cars with these tablets as controls. I want classic controls that you can feel in the dark without looking and that are intuitive to use. Btw, can a 205 cm tall person take seat in it?
What I've read, it's a matter of volume, and only the variant with the smallest battery is a candidate. Unless future batteries have higher density and thus take up less volume. But I think by then, say 5 years down the line, Aptera may be teasing plans for another vehicle model, possibly a bigger one. For now the focus is the 2-seater.
Increase reservations?! Put several Apteras on semi-trucks & put them on display in large-population locations in Northern & Southern CA - shopping malls, large tech firms, parking lots of NFL stadiums, amusement parks - Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Great America & ?... even just driving an 18 wheeler (with Apteras on board) down crowded California freeways with educational signage... The very cool, modern design & high-tech features of Aptera, plus bargain pricing would boost reservations...
I would use the yoke scroll wheels for cruise control, and/or maybe to maximize regen braking like the Chevy Bolt's regen on demand paddle. I also like the idea of turn signals - not thrilled with the idea of using the touch screen for that.
The most recent update is the left buttons of the yoke will be for volume up and down (still programmable?) and a horn button on the right. The vehicle comes with a left stalk for the turn signal and high and low beams. Jason Hill, Chief of Design, expects the stalk to be removed from the vehicle within a year or two after the start of production. So that would be pretty cool to control the turn signals from the buttons on the left side of the yoke!
I am very concerned about the RFID card. It is possible to clone RFID cards with open source software and hardware that is affordable. I hope they change this security vulnerability and do a typical key fob. Just because you can go high tec with everything doesn't mean you should
This is informative but in the event of another Carington event ,there’s no back up . There are simple ways to minimize the effects but they should be built into the final package.
2:42 please check your fact. I believe Safety Pilot is not OTA upgradable. Aptera does not have resource like Tesla to equip all vehicle will necessary HW for safety pilot.
I would use the button on the right to play the Alabama fight song on external speakers and the one on the left for . . . I don't really care what the one on the left does if I can get the one on the right to do that.
I do not like the steering wheel, the section where there is nothing to grip. In an emergency driving situation being able to turn quickly without having to worry about where to grip the steering wheel is crucial. For me it is of much bigger concern than having side air bags. If you question my concern, think about this, I am a very attentive driver and have trained myself for emergency driving situations and have not had an accident in my last 36 years of driving.
Personally would love to see Aptera embrace the tinker/hacker community to make our own 3rd party modifications and adapters. As much as Tesla's UI is decent, I would gladly write my own.
Aptera's CTO has even talked about having a hardware reset stored in ROM to restore factory settings if it gets too messed up. They are all for owners experimenting with their vehicles. That said, Aptera is already selling their UI to other companies, and it is their first revenue stream.
I wonder if I can reconfigure the cockpit seating:… Center the pilot. 👁👁Put in staggered side buckets either side and slightly to the rear for 2 passengers, [crew]. Replace that yoke with a serious yoke; (see the yoke/seat configuration of latest Mclaren super car.) 🍎
In NY 3 wheel vehicles require the operator and or passenger to wear a helmet, this is going to be a problem . I'm sure its the same in other states I haven't seen the company address this.
Hard pass without side airbags. This isn't 2005. Side airbags save lives and the Aptera will have a mass disadvantage in a collision with the vast majority of cars on the road. Very bad sign this feature isn't seen as essential.
Une largeur de 2.2m au niveau des roues, sera rédibitoire sur les routes Europennes...Deux Aptera qui se croisent sur une route étroite, s'arracheront les roues avant coté conducteurs...!!! Sinon, ce serait une excellente voiture...
Can anyone explain why it is better to have two wheels in the front and one in the back rather than the other way around? Because to me it seems like the design is much more complicated that way...
We need Apple car play before we purchase and it’s got to be strong enough to cross the country high elevations climbing mountains going through bad weather sleet icy bridges . Without struggling in High cross winds.
Both are possible. The 4 wheel model is likely to be a 5 passenger sedan. We may hear more about this after they go public. There is mention of it and other follow-on vehicles in the SEC filings.
so it has more back space than a tesla 3 but a tesla 3 seats 5 people also I was i young man when they first started promising these things and now I'm almost to old. Time is money and this car has spent alot of time on this neverending project .
Same with my Tesla I never leave my phone. since I always have it my car is always locked and always open at the same time its very nice. Never even look at my phone unless its raining or we are getting groceries and I need to summon the car to me.
Get away from cell service on a decently long hike and forget to put your phone on Airplane Mode and it will soon be dead. Now you can?t start your car , enter it, or call for help. I like having a real metal key!
I'm an investor and I'm concerned..multiple series of crowdfunding efforts and need for another 50 million just to start production? No JV w Tesla or existing EV manufacturers? Love love this concept but I'm trying to match aspirations/ dreams w reality.. financial issues have killed more than 1 great idea
Financials are critical! They have multiple paths to get enough capital to start production. In addition the $22 million CPC grant, they are applying for other government loans/grants, institutional loans, and using crowdfunding. Check out aptera.us for more on #AccelerateAptera (raised $1.2M in just a few days already).
This maybe a nice vehicle for some, but it does not meet family size and needs I am looking for. I do prefer 4 wheels under me for my driving needs. How do insurance companies view this type of vehicle? Is this vehicle classified as a motorbike and need special license? The design is too weird and futuristic for me and stands out like a sore thumb. Storage just not enough for my uses, prefer a hatchback or SUV for my storage needs. I live in a winter state and still don't know how reliable this vehicle is in snow or icy conditions. Where do we take these puppies to get serviced if the vehicle breaks down? Good luck for people looking to get one of these vehicles, but not for me.
Only in one category, the behavior we are most in need of ending, is Aptera outperforming other EVs but it is still wrong, wrong, wrong. The vast majority of car abusers need to stop using freeways and high speed roads to do what should only be done on public transportation in 2023. To survive the next century we have to change our behavior. A high speed vehicle that uses no power at all STILL requires the nature suffocating roads to function. It STILL kills creatures and insects as they cross the roads. It STILL encourages us to continue devastating lifestyles and activities. It STILL encourages car centic city designs that isolate people from nature while sealed in a chamber away from society and reality. It encourages owners to drive too fast for safety while going too far for sustainable living. It is the ultimate one trick pony of the EV world. It is every bit as bad as the obscenely over powered Teslas in how it justifies obsolete lifestyles. We need light EVs for local transportation to the stores and work at moderate speeds, not the Lear Jet of land transportation. A complimentary second vehicle to my Arcimoto would be the Nimbus one for times we need climate control.
@@protoborg You just showed that you know nothing about engineering. BTW, I worked for the company that hired the Tesla engineers after Tesla ran out of money and had to lay them off. Even they would tell you that Teslas are not as efficient for multiple reasons obvious to any engineer. Why the FUD?

I was wondering if someone knew what wrap material Aptera will be using? Thanks in advance.
What happened to the 120V outlet?
The 12V outlet and USB ports are still listed as features on Aptera's website. I suspect they're hidden at the front of the center console behind the phone stand based on the latest Delta renders.
@@InstantTorqueYT Hope so. The video made it seem it was just a 12V outlet. I think all modern EVs should have a 120V outlet. I know manufacturers are probably wary of people using the battery to run space heaters and the like, and then the warranty is kind of weird (battery use vs. miles driven)
@@nlewis-vg3kc There's been some speculation on this. At this point I think it's still TBD.
Do you know how much that trunk measures in linear, not cubic. Feet, as in: how long and how wide it is? I'm a musician wondering about hauling big instruments, e.g. a harpsichord.
I know Tesla owners reboot the system during driving ?? is that necessary or possible ?
Hopefully the "system" features work and stay live - like the touch screen . . . hopefully.
Make the USB ports USBC instead of USB-A. I know it’s late in the game. Any chance you can go to 48 volts for “low power” instead of 12v al-la Tesla??
i wish they had more than just 12 volt port. I was hoping 110 volt ac to power my house in case of an emergency or use it for my power tools.
There will be at least a small built in AC inverter. V2G is planned once the standards are in place.
@@n.brucenelson5920 that will be Great !!!
Would be cool if it had a foldable/retracteable wind turbine generator to make electricity when there is no sun.
Please Aptera...don't add USB-A ports. They should both be USB-C ports
How well does it handle in Sow and pots conditions?
Suspension is really good. The company developed it with Rousch. Potholes and speed bumps are non-issue. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing the production-intent builds do real world testing on ice and snow. We've heard great things, but we want to see it!
I am most curius about the crash test safety data. Anyone have that?
Me too! To date there is only internal simulation data. Real world crash tests by a third party are expected to happen this year once the production intent vehicles are built out. The company is in the middle of systems integration and meeting funding objectives to build, test, and validate Delta. Check out this video for more Safety info: ua-cam.com/video/RZ3GN527Vtc/v-deo.html
Great review of the vehicle! I learned thing I didn’t know and even things I didn’t know I didn’t know. Thanks again! 👍
Great car, but the knock-out criterion for not ordering the car is the large touch screen. I hate the new cars with these tablets as controls. I want classic controls that you can feel in the dark without looking and that are intuitive to use. Btw, can a 205 cm tall person take seat in it?
💯
Will the Aptera have a third seat behind the front seats?
Aptera's website now says "while we are looking into this as a possibility for the future, a third seat will not be an option at initial launch."
Great ideas! I think you just need some big personalities in the cockpit: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Taylor Swift, Mr. Beast, take your pick.
Does it have a heat-pump to get it defrosted and preheated in the winter?
There's no heat pump for the launch edition. The company has expressed interest in implementing a heat pump later on since it's super efficient.
With solid state battery, I will buy one
How much does the Aptera cost?
Great work i love it. it will be a great transition from my M3. A heated steering wheel would be welcome addition for this old motorbike rider!
So this can be charged at a Tesla Supercharger?
Yea
I agree!!!!!
Waiting for this tech marvel to be imported in Greece
The last I saw the doors still opened with a knock. What is this about an rfid card?
The RFID card is confirmed. Knock Knock is unconfirmed.
2:42 please check your fact. I believe Safety Pilot is not OTA upgradable. Aptera does not have resource like Tesla to equip all vehicle will necessary HW for safety pilot.
wrap!!!!! good idea!
I'll pay double for a Crimson Tide wrap!
I would use the button on the right to play the Alabama fight song on external speakers and the one on the left for . . . I don't really care what the one on the left does if I can get the one on the right to do that.
The wireless access is a massive security risk, just give me a key!
They have talked about letting users take it as far as possible at the UI level. It'll be cool to see how this evolves.
Aptera's CTO has even talked about having a hardware reset stored in ROM to restore factory settings if it gets too messed up. They are all for owners experimenting with their vehicles.
That said, Aptera is already selling their UI to other companies, and it is their first revenue stream.
I wonder if I can reconfigure the cockpit seating:…
Center the pilot. 👁👁Put in staggered side buckets either side and slightly to the rear for 2 passengers, [crew]. Replace that yoke with a serious yoke; (see the yoke/seat configuration of latest Mclaren super car.) 🍎
Sounds like an awesome mod! The company sounds like it is super open to user customization.
In NY 3 wheel vehicles require the operator and or passenger to wear a helmet, this is going to be a problem . I'm sure its the same in other states I haven't seen the company address this.
Aptera for President. Is it too early?
They should allow an optimized inverter to connect gaming desktops just cuz
If it had 4 seats I would have purchased one yesterday
Hard pass without side airbags. This isn't 2005. Side airbags save lives and the Aptera will have a mass disadvantage in a collision with the vast majority of cars on the road. Very bad sign this feature isn't seen as essential.
AI voice generation is getting really good, i cant tell if this is, or isnt.
This is 100% human-made. You can never be too sure!
It's all about stability. The vehicle has a front-weight biased and wide stance, which greatly improves stability.
@@InstantTorqueYT Ok thanks.
Cornering is MUCH more stable with the 2 wheels in the front. That means much less chance of rollover while turning at higher speed.
We need Apple car play before we purchase and it’s got to be strong enough to cross the country high elevations climbing mountains going through bad weather sleet icy bridges . Without struggling in High cross winds.
When will the model be available that has a small diesel engine and no nanny state hostage software capability?
A key feature not mentioned is the BMS. No BMS=useful only in California.
I want removable side mearers on my car.
Aptera
wish it's a four seater
Oh yes, allow for an optional 3rd seat & expand with a 4-wheel model...
Both are possible. The 4 wheel model is likely to be a 5 passenger sedan. We may hear more about this after they go public. There is mention of it and other follow-on vehicles in the SEC filings.
Great! Looking forward to more news re: Aptera development!
Love the review but there are some obvious discrepancies from Aptera’s own Delta launch video.
Thanks! Check out the description of this video and the Delta review video for more info: ua-cam.com/video/04u6pjXycpM/v-deo.html
We need a third or fourth seat
Elio
右手打左脸有点别扭,打右脸比较顺手
so it has more back space than a tesla 3 but a tesla 3 seats 5 people also I was i young man when they first started promising these things and now I'm almost to old. Time is money and this car has spent alot of time on this neverending project .
so ....don't ever forget/lose your phone or your wallet?.....🤔 - (does AAA have a master key?) 😅
I lose my car keys 10X more than I lose my phone or wallet (being like once over the last twenty years).
These aren't amazing. Most of these "options" are on most vehicles.
Let’s see a head on crash test with a EV Hummer.
That Hummer will be pulverized 😅
I wouldn't buy one without side air bags
Really bummed this won't qualify for the $7,500 IRA tax credit.
That is a bummer. Hope that changes by production time.
I like how the steering wheel looks like a happy face. ua-cam.com/video/Uj_OvZ6lKbw/v-deo.html
It's Hello KItty.
Air-features: not delivered, never will be
I'd like to know about towing design, since it is likely a 100% EV runs out of battery and stranded in a nowhere.
very good q.
I have heated seat on my model s. I never use them, this item is a waste of money
Try getting through a Minnesota winter without them.
The wrap (with a 10 year warranty) is a mistake in my opinion. Carbon fiber would be preferable if eliminating paint is the goal.
A novelty that will never see mass acceptance.
Niche car. Sporty but won't compete with more utilitarian designs.
Aptera a tesla?
No they’re both ev companies but they are fundamentally VERY different.
Aptera is designed with customer rights including right to repair in mind, and is considerably (several times) more efficient than the best Tesla.
