I have 2 problems with the current talent trees. 1. Why must every class have a ton of talents focused on AoE, making it almost mandatory to take those talents for dungeon runs? I don't mind needing to AoE, but in order to get those talents you need to give up other talents you want. Again, this is fine. But ultimately those AoE talents completely change the way your class plays and I don't find it fun. AoE spamming dungeons makes me feel like I'm playing Diablo. I like Diablo, but I don't want that type of gameplay in the majority of my dungeon runs. I've seen good tanks pull what seems like half the dungeon while everyone AoE spams the mobs down. Very boring game design. 2. The devs continue to mistakenly balance pvp around arena. They designed a meta built around near one shot swifty macros. The majority of highest ranked solo shuffle players use these builds because they are the easiest way to secure a quick kill and end the match. There really is no alternative playstyle in solo shuffle as dps. Look at top sublety rogue and MM hunter builds as prime examples. This type of playstyle didn’t happen by accident. The devs designed it that way so you have to either pick these meta one shot swifty macro builds or expect to remain average. And failing at this near one shot opportunity pretty much nullifies the chance at killing anyone until the abilities recycle to nearly one shot again. That’s WoW arena in a nutshell. Time to bring on rated solo shuffle BGs where that playstyle is still important, but it won’t determine who wins the BG. Other playstyles will be able to shine. Players will encounter a variety of fights where those long cooldowns won't always be available. And let's bring back class dependency in pvp. Tanks need others to help them stick to a target. Spells like mana burn can be used to keep casters in check so even if they are able to kite melee, they won't be able to continually pump out damage because they'll be low on mana. Same with healers. Make all healers equally dependent on mana so we no longer need dampening. Most of us are tired of classes being Jacks of All Trades with everyone being able to dps, heal, and CC in pvp. All of this and more could be easily achieved in a solo 6v6 solo shuffle setting (1 healer, 1 tank, 4 dps).

One of the comments that might just come off as a little thing actually has me quite inspired to follow along with this WoW "Rebuild"....and kind of even throws more shade on the "You think you want it but you don't" comment from years ago. Not sure which Dev said it but "We had a chance to get back and play in the Classic Game modes and realized that it was just more fun to get a talent point than another tier of a spell". To me that speaks volumes, not only are these guys actually playing the game (again?) but they kind of realized they watered down the progression so much for like a decade that it kind of became unfun to even just play through the core game, let alone end game. Recognizing that you made a large mistake and sat on it for years and years is a big W in my eyes, addressing it and changing it back to what even they deem was a better system is even a bigger W. So props to Blizzard on that one...and guess Classic WoW was something that EVERYONE has benefited from and not something we didn't want or need. The irony that Classic WoW, might just save future WoW and it was initially brushed off immediately by the former Dev Team, thats just jokes.
wow what a great series of interviews. Now do this with other studios! Just imagining Preach becoming a sort of gaming documentary / interview channel gets me excited.
Amazing videos Preach, its so good hearing the dev teams talking about their history and thought process. We as gamers are disconnected from the development process of games and i feel that if we all knew what goes into the game we love we would be more accepting of mistakes.
I’ve spent 1000s of hours on UA-cam, and Displate was my first promo code purchase ever! I saw Preach’s promo, and got one for my Stranger Things obsessed daughter, and one for her neighbor/friend. I was the coolest dad in the neighborhood. Thanks Preach!
The art team is awesome, the new Uldaman I love. That said, there needs to at least be an option for better visual clarity. It is an absolute mess in some encounters and gameplay is #1 at the end of the day. Please allows us the ability to sacrifice artistic integrity to be able to see what is happening.
You have options to reduce spell effects to only your own + essential spells (ground aoe buffs/heals/shields/etc) as well as environmental detail which doesn’t render a lot of extraneous objects (wall decorations, plants, and other non interactive 3d/2d assets) You can also set a circle marker under your character that shows through all spells and assists in raids and BGs to more easily keep track of your character. Lastly there’s a slew of addons that help visual clarity. A common one is an alternate take on the circle marker under your character instead putting a customizable dot in the center of the screen like a reticle. This marks the center of the screen at all times (where the player character is) so you know exactly where you’re standing regardless of whether your character is visible or not hope that helps
@@peen2804 i've tried all that and it's not enough, just make stuff easier to see. not asking for that much, it's a video game with demanding mechanics at times. the challenge should never be figuring out if i am in the bad or not. it should be getting out of it
Interesting perspective... I loathed uldaman hated it back in vanilla and still hate it now. Just like Violet hold, I do not understand the need to carry back old dungeons that quite frankly weren't popular to begin with. Though I must agree with you on the visual clarity.
I love that you’re playing other games but your WoW content is always next level. All your content is next level. It’s great. Pumped for your RWF video. Hope the office is getting better.
Your intro did a very good job of visually presenting their core changes in philosophy's and it's reflection in the game over the years. As well as, some of the pit falls both the developers and their players discovered along the way. I can say, I loved the first iteration of barrowed power. There was so much class fantasy, aesthetic, and care that went into the Artifacts; it was hard not to be enamored with them. Yet, by early BFA it became apparent that I could no longer become attached to a system, if became difficult to emotionally invest into any one thing, as it would surely be gone inside of a year. While the infinite grinds and focus on only a few instance areas allowed much of the wider game they built to become atrophied. And so too went my broader love for the game. Needless to say, I was done by early SL's. And I'm happy to see their new game direction, and respect their desire to rebuild stronger foundations into aspects which have been unsupported for quite some time. I'm also happy they let you and your staff in to do this. It's a good series. And it's great insight into a studio that which, until now, had a perception too often build on outside observation, pretense, and supposition. And as a point of direct feedback: I think they knocked the talent system out of the park. I am someone who does not import a string. And I've had great fun in delving into both trees and comparing notes with guild members and posts from fellow players. While having the two tree in this new iteration helps flesh out the system in a way even the early talents seemed to miss. It's really well done and I look forward to seeing how they build on it.
Really appreciate what Mike and the Team do for the community. Mike's streams often make my day working from home much more fun. This particular content is something unprecedented for WoW, amazing that Mike was able to put something like that together, and what's more just because he loves the game so much and wants to understand and help us understand why some things happen and others don't. Amazing work.
When WoW started, the dev's made the game THEY wanted to play for them selves and it just so happened that it turned out to be an awesome and new game which also suited what players wanted. To say there was nothing tedious about vanilla would be a lie but that was how the game was made and we simply accepted it. Now days, the player base rightly or wrongly knows what they want from the game and Blizz still had the mentality of "we know best" because it had been so successful for them for so long. Hopefully we're in a new place where theyre not as stubborn but still take the lead. Player feedback is great and all but its worth remembering, sometimes players dont know whats best either.
I really do love these videos. I could watch you talk with the developers of WoW for hours and hours and be totally invested in it the entire time. Big props to you for making all these and props to blizzard for allowing you to come in to do them.
Thank you for this! Its so cool to know how the content is being made and to see people who are working on it. Thank god Dragonflight is amazing, I'm finally having fun after 4 years.
Blizzard should have a official link to those videos or even include them somehow in the launcher etc. It opens up alot of stuff that many diddnt know. Love this series.
Amazing job, the team at Blizzard came across brilliantly and it builds excitement for the next 10 years for sure. Feel the game is in incredibly safe hands with John and Holly! Much better to see this type of content than the slick marketing content we got from Blizz for their Dragonflight announcement
Listening to preach talk about what he likes about WoW now really drives home that playing FF14 is the best possible thing that could have happened for his enjoyment of the game.
This is a very interesting series of interviews. The world design in Dragonflight is very thoughtful and well implemented for the most part, so hearing the designers speak about it is very cool 👍
John's comments at the end are fantastic. I've always wanted WoW to double down on story within the game and create long arc narratives with the characters they introduce and we create to play with. Awesome video, great info, and keep it up!
Can't deny you did a great job for someone whose day job isn't interviews and journalism. There's room for improvement but I'd like to see more! For a little bit of feedback, some of your questions are a little leading and slightly odd. You don't need to 'pre-answer' the questions and then ask if that's how they do it. I don't doubt you were time limited, either, so I can imagine it's tough to cover all the topics in the alloted time.
22 min in is so true. All I want to do is pvp and shadowlands had way too much other stuff. Right now I’m doing arena and that’s it which is exactly what I want from the game
I find it hilarious to see Graham talk about the game when back in high school of TBC and early wrath he was my raid leader and has a very famous raid wipe rage UA-cam video
Crazy how people were upset how he wanted to make wow content how ever his wow videos have so many more vues. I think wow players just like content that makes them feel better. I remember watching ever class guide and class fantasy video he made. I really want preach to come back and make content. He was one of my favorite content creators.
Another fantastic drop! These two videos are such a breath of fresh air, it's so wonderful hearing these guys and gals talk like this. It's like hearing them for the first time, and in some cases it actually is, which is both awesome and a little sad. Thanks again for making this, for taking the time, spending the money and crossing the pond to do it. Also, it's really nice to see you happy. Thanks Mike.
After watching the intro I take it Mike is the type of guy who says "no no no don't give that away,we might need it later" then boom busts out the kids out Lego Duplo table.
Alright, my earlier comment about class design aside, for the future of wow there's really a number of different things I would like to see. Further on down the line I would like for them to perhaps try and explore the idea of universal travel, or timeline possibilities, and what I mean by that is perhaps the powerful forces of Azeroth discovering a way to to travel to another time/universe where X event had a different outcome and we explore would COULD have happened in the timeline. For example what would've ended up happening if Arthas had never purged Stratholme and found another way? Or what if Thrall never accepted the undead into their ranks and gave them an opportunity, what would've became of them? Would they be their own faction hostile to everyone else? These are things I would like to see them potentially try to explore in due time and they wouldn't even necessarily have to whole xpac events you know? I think that would be kinda cool AND it would give Blizz the opportunity to let their imagination run wild as well as give us a chance to see how different these zones would be, like would eastern plaguelands look extremely different or what?
Thanks Preach i don't always agree with you but you have been consistently insightful. This series has been fantastic so a big thank you for doing this.
i can think of something really really bad in this expansion, First they force you to grind renown so you can continue the storyline, why ?....second, they said all renown will be account wide and they lied, its still the same old grind but with different colours.
It brings me a lot of joy seeing you make more content on a shared interest of ours. I look forward to more if you decide to make more. I am eager to hear from you and more from you. I am accross the pond in America and I can't quite catch ur streams, so i mainly consume ur UA-cam content. Look forward to more...dis someone say ur doing another legacy video or updated ones? ;)

It's nice to see this side of Blizzard. Finally collecting W's again after all these years and the team they have right now seems to be doing some phenomenal work.
It clarifies to me just how old i am when the senior management for wow come from mop. I remember the wrath babies like some old man yelling at the sky. But mop was a hidden gem. And it's fair that he would have seen the best and some of the worst of combat.i really do hope wow turns it around. But the problem I have is the compass has been spinning for so long I couldn't begin to guess which way is north
For flying I actually really don’t mind and even like levelling with the ground mount. I think having some time where your forced to be on the ground is fun but only during leveling
I wish they would take out ALL dps choice nodes (ones that offer damage, e.g. Abominations Limb/Soul Reaper for DKs) in the class tree. Just make that tree pure utility. Other than that, the new talent trees are bangers and a great step. I hope they continue with them into the future. Would be cool to see hybrid builds come back, but I get the issues with them.
I have one burning question. Did you ask how they plan handle the end of DF now that we're all hooked on dragon riding? It's a smaller feature to remove, but won't be received well if we don't figure out a solution. Having our old school mount fly at dragon speeds would be interesting

So props to Blizzard on that one...and guess Classic WoW was something that EVERYONE has benefited from and not something we didn't want or need. The irony that Classic WoW, might just save future WoW and it was initially brushed off immediately by the former Dev Team, thats just jokes.
Thanks you for putting the spec trees back! So so thankful.
wow what a great series of interviews. Now do this with other studios! Just imagining Preach becoming a sort of gaming documentary / interview channel gets me excited.
Appreciate the attention to detail with the colours chosen for the blocks for vanilla + first 3 expansions :D
Loved those ending responces , no rules , thats great to hear , thanks for the interviews to all parties involved
I know it's just music, but man, hearing the music after the intro is just so epic. Brings out a lot of emotion in me
Amazing videos Preach, its so good hearing the dev teams talking about their history and thought process.
Thank you for this, Preach. I hope my faith in Blizzard being restored won't be regretful later in few years. But it's nice to have faith again.
The art team is awesome, the new Uldaman I love. That said, there needs to at least be an option for better visual clarity. It is an absolute mess in some encounters and gameplay is #1 at the end of the day. Please allows us the ability to sacrifice artistic integrity to be able to see what is happening.
You have options to reduce spell effects to only your own + essential spells (ground aoe buffs/heals/shields/etc) as well as environmental detail which doesn’t render a lot of extraneous objects (wall decorations, plants, and other non interactive 3d/2d assets)
You can also set a circle marker under your character that shows through all spells and assists in raids and BGs to more easily keep track of your character.
Lastly there’s a slew of addons that help visual clarity. A common one is an alternate take on the circle marker under your character instead putting a customizable dot in the center of the screen like a reticle. This marks the center of the screen at all times (where the player character is) so you know exactly where you’re standing regardless of whether your character is visible or not
hope that helps
@@peen2804 i've tried all that and it's not enough, just make stuff easier to see. not asking for that much, it's a video game with demanding mechanics at times. the challenge should never be figuring out if i am in the bad or not. it should be getting out of it
Interesting perspective... I loathed uldaman hated it back in vanilla and still hate it now. Just like Violet hold, I do not understand the need to carry back old dungeons that quite frankly weren't popular to begin with. Though I must agree with you on the visual clarity.
@@Knives7777 What is interesting about the perspective?
What a great way to describe WoW's development - and era 3 is very encouraging.
Amazing work.
you deserve more views on this preach, so well done, thank you
When WoW started, the dev's made the game THEY wanted to play for them selves and it just so happened that it turned out to be an awesome and new game which also suited what players wanted.
Incredible video, thanks for providing us a look on the inside
Never heard of Captain Winky and I've played since Wrath. Love that I still can learn about new things from the games past.
I love how that final interview bit has hints of the 3 expansion arc in the books but it was like "shh, can't tell anyone that yet!"
Thank you for this! Its so cool to know how the content is being made and to see people who are working on it. Thank god Dragonflight is amazing, I'm finally having fun after 4 years.
Amazing job Mike. These videos are absolutely fantastic.
I'm cautiously optimistic as always. Hope it pays off!
the production on this is wild! What an awesome insight into our game. Thanks Mike!
Blizzard should have a official link to those videos or even include them somehow in the launcher etc. It opens up alot of stuff that many diddnt know. Love this series.
Really awesome to see how much bringing Classic back helped shape the path forward for Retail.
the fact you can give me hope about blizzards future is madness, absolute madness.
Amazing job, the team at Blizzard came across brilliantly and it builds excitement for the next 10 years for sure. Feel the game is in incredibly safe hands with John and Holly! Much better to see this type of content than the slick marketing content we got from Blizz for their Dragonflight announcement
Most fun I've had since wrath. Unbelievable turn around from blizzard. Kudos on great interviews as well.
amazing interviews preach, thanks for the great content with these interviews
Listening to preach talk about what he likes about WoW now really drives home that playing FF14 is the best possible thing that could have happened for his enjoyment of the game.
You have the BEST advertisements. I love your style man!
Great stuff! Thanks to the team for going out and capturing the inside look at what’s going on.
This is a very interesting series of interviews. The world design in Dragonflight is very thoughtful and well implemented for the most part, so hearing the designers speak about it is very cool 👍
@Nayuta Kani Wether he was paid or not has no bearing on my interest in the content
Brilliant brilliant brilliant! Content of the highest order 👍🏻
Preach these videos are some of the best wow content ever created. Thank you
John's comments at the end are fantastic.
Brilliant interviews, thank you for posting :)
I find it hilarious to see Graham talk about the game when back in high school of TBC and early wrath he was my raid leader and has a very famous raid wipe rage UA-cam video
That dungeon footage where the guy shouts 'suck me up tree daddy' 🤣
Crazy how people were upset how he wanted to make wow content how ever his wow videos have so many more vues. I think wow players just like content that makes them feel better. I remember watching ever class guide and class fantasy video he made. I really want preach to come back and make content. He was one of my favorite content creators.
This has been an amazing piece Mike, you and Chris, Bex, Nups an the team have all done a wonderful job =)
I'm just happy we got to see Preach play with some legos.
Legitimately awesome to see new faces. They were all great.
Mad that it took them so long to do this kind of thing with Preach
I wonder if this would have been better as multiple short videos, it was a chore to get through it in one sitting
Holly is fascinated by dragons. Every project she works on, she pushes for dragons. Wonder where the idea came for Dragonflight came from :D
fantastic work Mike, really great stuff here!
Dragonflight is a win. Really enjoyable, don't "need" to do anything except fly around and have fun.
A+, just from your intro. Beautifully done.
'living in Azeroth' Housing confirmed. 👍
Cheers. Thanks for a great video. This was awesome.
Dragonriding is fun and I find myself just flying around and mining for hours, something I have not done since Wrath.
This blew my socks off, awesome top tier content right here!
ROFL, the borrowed power lego piece is so god damn absurd and perfectly fitting.
i can think of something really really bad in this expansion, First they force you to grind renown so you can continue the storyline, why ?....second, they said all renown will be account wide and they lied, its still the same old grind but with different colours.
Really enjoyed this series!
It brings me a lot of joy seeing you make more content on a shared interest of ours. I look forward to more if you decide to make more. I am eager to hear from you and more from you. I am accross the pond in America and I can't quite catch ur streams, so i mainly consume ur UA-cam content. Look forward to more...dis someone say ur doing another legacy video or updated ones? ;)
All this talk of Brawler's Guild makes me wish it would come back.
On today's episode of Lego Preachcraft... Let's get stuck into WoW Era 3. *Hype music*. In all seriousness we don't deserve you and the quality of this phenomenal series.
hey preach, I would LOVE some TDP again.. pretty please
Breakboner the legend returns 35:28
Blizzard is telling you what you want to hear.
It's nice to see this side of Blizzard. Finally collecting W's again after all these years and the team they have right now seems to be doing some phenomenal work.
That intro was so good. Holy shit.
Amazing series. Never played wow but I think will try it now.
Damn I appreciate these videos SO MUCH!!!
Thank you!
God bless Preach.
Honestly, any game that he is passionate about that he also makes content for is always top notch.
The new talent system and dragonriding are two of the best systems added to WoW maybe ever.
The building blocks brought me back to the dice.
For flying I actually really don’t mind and even like levelling with the ground mount. I think having some time where your forced to be on the ground is fun but only during leveling
I returned to wow after like 8 years because of these changes. Good direction
Those colour coordinated blocks were top notch lol
one of the best quest in wow most be when you are in a crater and you fight deathwing and someother stuff :D
Ah yes, the one in Badlands right? One of the best questlines from the cata revamp
I have one burning question. Did you ask how they plan handle the end of DF now that we're all hooked on dragon riding? It's a smaller feature to remove, but won't be received well if we don't figure out a solution. Having our old school mount fly at dragon speeds would be interesting
Player v Player dragon racing needs quests or something to encourage it.
@ 50:15 CHRIS THIS BLEW MY EARS OFF!
Yeah I dunno what happened there, couldn't even find the issue in my premiere file. Will be snipped out once yt is done processing
@@TheChunkeyNinja Oh pog you actually saw this, I love you tho!
