How do you paint watercolor in procreate?
By combining some special brushes and a watercolor paper texture, we can paint in this watercolor style. All the Procreate watercolor brushes, textures, and materials are linked above. They all come with video instruction on how to use them, so it's something you can use even if you are totally new to Procreate.

👉🏼 PRINT YOUR ARTWORK:
Here's the printer I use:
amzn.to/3q2mKk7 (This is an Affiliate link for Amazon.com)
I prefer this one because it's just so easy to get amazing colors and rich, textured shading. This printer is not suitable for printing tiny stuff, like postage stamp size, because it's only going to do 150dpi. That's good enough for a greeting card or anything larger (I prefer to print larger stuff anyways).

What document size do you like to start with?
❤️❤️❤️❤️
1000❤
I have your brushes and paper, however when I use the brush in your video I still don’t get that nice water colour texture, my colours are all flat 😞
I followed your tutorial on how to set up the paper as well
Hi! Thank you so much 🥰 I think it's probably something small going wrong. One of the most common issues is painting above the paper texture by accident. It could be something else - can you send me a screenshot of a few brush strokes on the Etsy chat? I'm 100% sure we can find out what's going wrong 🙏
@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438Thank you for replying so quickly! I had used the wrong paper, I had used the one that came with the brush set, not the one from the video.
For general water colour painting what do you recommend as a paper?
I’m really enjoying your videos I’m excited as I’m new to watercolour as a style 🥰
No problem at all 😁 the paper texture thing is really subjective, but here's my recommendation:
My favorite general purpose watercolor paper is probably st Petersburg. It's a little rough, but not so much that it makes faces look weird. The backrun texture, for example, could make characters faces look a little blotchy because it's too rough. If you message me on etsy, I can send it to your so you can try it out.
I really like the regular paper texture as well but I think I just have too much nostalgia for it because it's the original one. Over time, I've come to appreciate rougher and rougher textures. I don't want to change the original texture in the kit because I think my original preference is still valid, I've just slowly drifted to enjoying blotchiness more and more.
Recently I'm using the backrun texture so often because it looks really well on the overhead camera. The tutorials are probably being watched on a phone screen anyways, so I was worried viewers couldn't see the texture very well when I use the regular texture. It's just a camera issue though 😭 I'm a little in over my head, technically speaking, because the camera is working really well right now and I'm afraid to adjust anything and the magic settings will be lost😬
@@calvinatdrifterstudio8438 I’ve actually been watching on my 60” and it definitely looks nice. I really love the backrun texture it’s a nice effect but I’d like to give the Petersburg a go so I’ll definitely send a message! I’m really enjoying the water colour, thank you 🙂
Thanks! great work!
