I believe like Audi, when you replace your boot struts on a hydraulic/Electric boot on a Volvo you have to do a relearn process. This could be a process of pressing buttons with the ignition on/off etc or simply manually lifting the boot all the way from top to bottom several times. Its certainly worth Google searching for it. I had to do this on my Ford Galaxy, I was scratching my head for days until someone told me!

Guys, if you bought a Volvo, might as well spring for a Vida Diagnostic tool and software.
Im guessing its a garbage 4 cylinder VEA engine,EGR's are garbage on them.
