    If you checkout warlords ebay store you can get the Portuguese starter army for £48 (20% off until 31st Mar 21 and a potential extra 10% if you buy more that one item from them) which might be an alternative interesting starter for some people

    Finally a home for my great idea! If you look up the Portuguese Corps of Mounted Guides, they have exactly the same uniform cut as British L.D., but a different (and really nice) colour scheme. I just used a box of Perry's British Light Dragoons and painted them accordingly, and use them as a small unit since they were very small. I made them look a bit more 'Mounted Guides' by putting the carbines slung over their backs too. Just a recommendation for anyone looking for easy plastic cavalry to add to their Portuguese. Think I'll be looking into that idea with the French Chasseurs too. Excellent video as always

    As always, another great video! Thank you very much. One thing I'd comment is that if you look for more variety in the Portuguese Empire troops, they had a lot of different colonial units, with different uniforms and training, ranging from local militias to marines and some special units like the all black "Henriques" regiment. Osprey has 3 different books on napoleonic Portuguese. These units also saw action against the French (such as in Cayenne) and are an interesting way to have a broader and more colourful force. Cheers!

    maybe you could do a full video for some french satellite states and foreign regiments since it's interesting to try something different with painting generic french infantry minis differently + some other french units with minor conversions (I can say that this method could work out for the Italians, post-1809 Saxons, Neapolitans, the Spanish Joseph Napoleon regiment, the swiss, the Irish regiment etc.)

      But, i have some doubts in regards of building Saxons out of French Inf..
      As far as i know they did not have any epaulettes on their uniforms and every trooper was equiped with a Faschinenmesser (a short sword in all but name).
      The Spanish inf from warlord with replaced headgear(just go for french heads with shakos) and prussian füssilier conversion kit(the perrys have some, for the swords) should be a nice fit, if you dont mind the 4 button cuffs instead of the 2s like in rl.

Really good for making bases and cutting with a sharp carpet knife to what ever size you need . I can a sheet for 60AUD lasts for a whole army

    Does the outpost charge shipping for eu countries. I live in Denmark and honestly there are no 28mm brands here and I think the British ones (perrys victrix and warlord) are by far the best models I've seen, however shipping plus vat combined with the base price from websites is just not justifiable so I can only really afford to by the big bundles

    Punching some numbers, I can't help but feel that it'd be cheaper to get the french chasseurs (a cheval, I assume), extra british horses, and still be almost half the price compared to the metals (add in a command sprue from the Perrys, and it'd be 2 regiments for not much more than one metal). And still have some french horsie-boys "for free"...

    Definitely saving this one. I'm suddenly getting the idea of doing a joint British-Portuguese force as my first foray into napoleonics. Possibly even looking up 3rd division and some battle (which battle did you say? Sorry, I'm horrible at remembering things when not written down). And then perhaps finding some suitable french division for them to face off against. I don't know whether to say thank you or damn you, I'm yet to paint my first napoleonic figure (and have no idea about local scene, aside from a few friends who are slowly grinding away at various projects), and here I am, making plans...

    • @NapoleonicWargaming
      @NapoleonicWargaming  3 роки тому +1

      Haha. That's the best way imo! I collected Napoleonics for 15 years and played a handful of games!
      The battle was Vittoria, but really the British-Portuguese army was fairly unchanged, so anything from Fuentes de Onoro onwards has good 3rd Division action! You could do a lot worse than checking out the Battle of Salamanca!

      @@NapoleonicWargaming As a follow-up (having done some wki-diving), it's a shame that the 74th lost their Highland status, otherwise 3rd division would have everything I wanted from napoleonics. Ah, well, should perhaps not dive into mass-painting tartan first thing I do in this era (it was bad enough when going free-form on some gauls)

    • @dangregory4217
      @dangregory4217 3 роки тому

      Depending on how much detail you want, I’d start out with the base colours and then tie them together with an overall wash like dark tone from army painter or Agrax earthshade from citadel. After that you can highlight and bring up the colour as much as you feel comfortable with. Check out culloden painting studio’s page as he’s got a few french painting tutorials that are pretty useful.
