Great review. Finally broke down and got the nano x. One of the color ways is on sale right now at Reebok’s site for 60 usd! Omg, world of difference. So much easier to do deadlifts and all the weighted squats and lunges.
Excellent video. I've become a big fan of your channel. This is a great breakdown of the best training shoes on the market. You touched on all the important criteria and I really love seeing each shoe side by side. You're doing great work here.
@@thatfitfriend thanks, Jake! Yeah, in fact I do have a question. I don’t do CrossFit so upper durability isn’t really a concern for me (no rope climbs etc), but I start off with running on the treadmill for about 15-20 minutes to warm up before transitioning over to weights. All of these shoes are great for lifting...which one of these would be your pick for the running aspect of cross training? So far, I’ve only been using running shoes, but they get a little squishy when it comes to deadlifts and squats. I’d like to get more stable shoes like these, but still want “some” shock absorption for short runs. Thanks Jake!
@@Melvin-belvin gotcha! In the context of these models, the React Metcon Turbo will give you the most responsiveness. The only thing that stinks about it is the price point. For a runner up, the TriBase Reign 3/Metcon 6 would be my next picks for the context of your needs!
I use the Metcon XD for agility workout and functional workouts on the turf because it has a tighten forefeet. And the outsole wraps up around the toe and having this sidewall around the forefeet for agility is a big plus for me. but for lifting, plyometrics, sprints and distance running, i prefer the Reebok Sprint TR Flexweave with its wide toe box and super lightweight. the shoe feels fast on the sprints and suicides. other x-trainers i like New Balance Minimus and Inov8 Bare which is i think is great for running long distance which will develop leg of steel. running shoes will make ur feet weak. ur x-trainer reviews are the best!!!!!
Thanks for making this video. I was looking for a pair of shoes to wear to the gym for an intermediate workout, some walking/jogging, and tennis. Am I asking for too much from one pair of shoes, I don't think so, lol. I just don't want to spend money to buy 3 pairs of shoes. So thanks again for a great review that has helped me much.
Nice video! I’m lookin into getting a shoe because my workouts are like 70% lifting, 20% running and 10% basketball This may be an obscure fit but is there a shoe that can fit that priority? That can be the best when im squatting but allows me to jog 20 minutes on the treadmill and play 30 minutes on the basketball court. What’s the best fit? Id be really appreciative of feedback
Thx man.. Very informative and thorough vids! Still need your opinion. Can't decide between a few options. Here a few stats: 40y, 5 foot 5, 153lbs I like to do CrossFit Wods but also a lot of elements of boxing training (a lot of jump rope, shadow boxing and heavy bag). Also enjoy compound / Oly lifts. I have separate running shoes and also lifting shoes. I rarely use the lifting shoes. So my question is obviously which you would recommend for crossfit/boxing style workout with the lifts and a lot of forefoot jumping and lateral movements.. Was thinking of the metcon react turbo, the metcon 6 or the latest Nanos... Thx in advance and keep up the awesome work!
Thank you! The React Metcon Turbo would probably be my top suggestion as well! Followed by UA TriBase Reign 3 and the Nano X1 Adventure. Either way, I think all of these would be solid for you!
Good afternoon Sir, Just a quick question on what shoe you recommend that is good for weightlifting in the gym but also good for outside runs on the trail (around 3-ish miles) but also grips well on wet-ish grass? I don't know much about shoes, I normally just grab whatever's on the shelf and deal with the discomfort until it is time for new ones and remember not to buy those shoes again if they felt bad. We have to do an ACFT couple times a year for the Army, the exercises are done outside and 75% of the time are in wet-ish grass. The last time I took it I was just slipping too much. To prep for this event I train weights at the gym but I do my runs outside in the trails (gravel, lose rocks, and dirt).
Hey! Check out the Reebok Nano X1 Adventure and the Nano X2 Adventure. I have reviews on both, but I think they'll fit your ask well. I would say look into the Nano X1 Adventure first to see if they're on sale. The STR/KE MVMNT Vimana Hybrid model is also a solid option if you want a stability bias and don't mind spending a bit more.

I don’t want to say they’re a poor choice and speak definitively, but they may be limiting in some contexts due to their overall construction! For ex: if they have a midsole that can’t accommodate certain loads and puts the ankle in a poor mechanical setup, then they would be not ideal for that task!
