The rural "peasant" small farmer has been hit just as hard as the urban working class. Here, where I live, there used to be a community hall where farmers and ranchers gathered for dances, dinners, various events. That's gone. There is a new young group of alternative life style, alternative housing, farming etc. They do get together and have work days to help one another. They are most distinctly apolitical. But here, too, we are fighting mega farms, feedlots, endless pecan and pistachio orchards; vinyards (I live wine, pecans, pistachios etc, but this is industrial, draining a finite aquifer. The point is small ranchers and farmers, rural folk are hit as hard as the urban working class.

I saw that Trump's cut regulations on corporate polluters, especially removing limits on carcinogenic PFAS "forever chemicals." This might hurt his standing with working people who voted for him because of MAHA.
