As I have said elsewhere Sheffield knife makers lost their way and were out in the Wilderness for many years, it is heartening to see some Sheffield makers turning out quality knives again, be great if young people are brought along so it grows and in future Sheffield will be respected again.
Brilliant comment, Lewis, and I agree 100%. I like to think I'm part of that 'young' people 😂. But I feel very confident in the 'young' knife collectors/users as I know a few of them now on discords. Brilliant guys with brilliant collections! Hope you are well, mate? Always good hearing from you! 🫡
Thanks for the mention! I try to promote the Sheffield knife makers whenever possible. Hopefully Mrs Rankin realises I need a gunstock in my collection when my birthday comes along next month......😉🇬🇧
Iv been thinking along the same lines pal thinking it would make a lovely Christmas present 😂👊
That thing is beautiful! It's brilliant seeing them do patterns like it also. James said they are going to post the old catalogue of which they took it from.
I think it's just great that we have another outlet for buying Sheffield knives, will definitely pick up one of the IXL barlows, would love to see a review of the gunstock before taking the plunge tho!
yesterday I found the Schrader IXL large stockman Limited Edition with box and paperwork. What a surprise to find this video today !!!! Thanks for the history and your great channel.
Nice find!! I don't think they come around very often. Cool to have in the collection. My stockman has still not arrived. I think it may have been a second as the tang stamp is filled away slightly. Thanks for the comment!
You have some beautiful knives thanks for sharing 😊 have a great weekend
Thanks for this channel update and for showing a bunch of cool knives and such. I like your little history lesson on the Egginton Group, rather interesting. 👍Take care and Cheers!
Thanks Toad. It's a cool story to tell. I probably didn't do it justice. But they essentially saved a lot of companies! Cheers 🍻
Morning pal thanks for the shout out , firstly I bet you have got that IXL stockman of Etsy 😂 iv had that on save for a while haha beautiful knife pal can't wait for you to get it , as for eggington Steven cocker and his wife are the managers now so we can expect some beauties 🙂 ,they just have to look at the prices for us tight arses 😂😂 , and the book is great I got a bit upset as I was born and bred in stannington and know all the buildings well brought back some lovely memories, anyway much more important pal looks like HH have some rose craft blades dropping soon 😍 the Barlows look amazing keep up the great work 👊
Alright, mate 👊
I know a lot of stuff on there is pricey. I'm still struggling to pay that much for a knife 🦆🍑 . Need to give that book a good read...looks decent! The only Rosecraft I may be interested in is the plain bone barlow. And then it depends on the price? If it's 60-70 I've got other things on the list I want more. Hope you're doing good? 👊
Thanks for the Egginton heads up,, I'm going straight to their website now,, 👍,, cheers mate,, 😊
They are bloody pricey mate. But definitely going to keep an eye on them cheers brother 👊
Wow that Tear drop looks amazing....
Cheers, Don. Hope you're doing well mate? Good hearing from you! I'm bloody loving it mate! It's nearly close to perfect! Was unsure about the pattern at first....moral of the story. Never doubt Tony Bose 😂😅😂
Excellent video my friend, really love these deep dives into the history of these companies. I was just looking at one of the PVD coated Case knives so excited to hear your thoughts on. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Martin,
Fantastic video!!!
Great historical information about Egginton.
So pleased you contacted them and spoke to James.
Just ordered that Dyson book myself 😀
Looking forward to seeing the upcoming videos 👍🏻
Best wishes to Terrel 🙏🏻
Great stuff,
Keep powering on brother 😎👍🏻
I got it off Amazon for a tenner! Bargain! Hope you're doing alright, Sean? I'll be honest with you, I didn't know a great deal about the Egginton bros LTD before they all got together. James seems like a decent bloke, though. He's very passionate about Sheffield! 👊

Yeah doing ok, been renovating the house/kitchen for last 18 months and have spent virtually every weekend on it. Looking forward to Sharp show next 🤣
Yeah I ordered my copy of the book from Amazon too.
The limited knowledge I have re Egginton is from Eric’s channel (Slicker Slicer’s).
Have a good weekend brother 👍🏻
Great video brother. I always learn something from you. Looking forward to your thoughts on the RB5. Thanks for the shoutout.
Cheers MB! Looking forward to carrying it a bit. Good knife to pick mate! Cheers 🍻
Great video buddy. Would be great to see a vid on the books you have!
Since Ian posted the link to the Egginton site I think I’ve been on every day since looking at the stuff on there 🤣
It sounded like Bucks 😂 maybe I will combine it Bucks and books 😅
Hope your good? Have a good weekend. I'm on nights over the weekend
Hello. Not a barlow fan at all but I really like that pine cone engraving. I am much more of a canoe or stockman admirer. All the best.
Tu n'aime pas Barlows. C'est rafraichissant a entendre! Votre motif prefere? 🤔
Excellent video my friend!
Cheers, mate. Start my night block soon. I will be able to catch up on my youtube! Looks like you've got some good videos out, mate! 👊
Hi Martin, Some good looking pieces from The Egginton Group there even if they are a tad expensive!!!
Not a tad 😂 bloody expensive 😅. But may still get a couple. Hope your doing well mate? Speak to you soon. 👊
Just went to their website.
It’s brilliant.
I wonder if they ship to the US?
Great information and great video!

Cheers, Tim. I watched your video on preorders, which is insane?!? Cheers mate 👊
@@SteelCityKnives yeah not really my style to do something like that, but it really had me floored.
Cheers! 👊🏻
Hi Martin. Having watched two of your videos regarding the Wostenholm.
I have ordered one for myself. I went for an added half stop, as they come without.
I'll try and do a complimentary accompanying video as soon as she arrives.
All the best David. ✌️
Cheers, brother! I'm looking forward to it! 👊
