- Another romantic music hall song about the magical effects moonlight has on young lovers. No recording date, but likely C.1912. Jack Charman was a prolific recording artist who's output seems to have peaked around this time. Played on my 1913 vintage Marathon gramophone.
Yes the moon is magical !!!!!! Thank you for the beautiful song !!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Indeed it is. There can never be too many of these 'moonstruck' songs, old or new!
I love moon songs and the moon 🌙 😊
Was thinking of you when I posted it xx
Utterly lovely, I've always loved how a lot of early 1910s records have a sort of odd sound when it comes to the instrumentals for songs, really wraps it all together :3
Yes, they do have a sound of their own & its perhaps because no microphones were used. They played & sang into a recording horn, a bit like a gramophone in reverse. Thanks for your comment & appreciation.
Lovely John bull upload. Nice clear vocal 😊
Almost like a new copy. Jack Charman is always worth collecting, but he had around 100 pseuds, so quite a minefield! Glad you enjoyed!
It seems that the moon songs were specially in vogue during 1912. By the light of the silv'ry moon is from that year too! Lovely song my friend!
They certainly were my friend. One of my earlier uploads was 'By The Light Of The Silvery Moon' by the same singer. There's also a song called 'Moonstruck' on UA-cam. Its from the 1909 musical 'Our Miss Gibbs'
