- Freedom Planet 2 feels like the first game with a bigger budget, expanding on many of the key mechanics it employs from its Sonic roots while crafting a unique identity with its complex levels and refreshingly unique enemy and boss design.

Took long enough to port this to consoles, but this is a genuine labor of love and a joy to play.
Already played on PC but double dipped on the Switch version. Looking forward to it.

I dunno i think mega man instead of sonic when seeing this gameplay. The only thing that reminds me of Sonic is the level design. They do look very sonic like

Nah this game is sick if you love movement based 2d platformers. Super underrated imo
Its kind of a shame more people don't give it a chance, because I think gameplay wise its one of the best platformers I've played, and I've played a lot of platformers over the years.
The combat is also very engaging, where its simple enough to not feel over centralizing, but complex enough to where boss fights don't feel like boring filler. And most attacks each character has also has useful application in the platforming as well.
Story is kinda meh, but most people don't play a platformer for the plot anyway. And it definitely tries to tell a compelling narrative even if it doesn't full succeed.
The pixelart is gorgeous and imo is one the best looking pixleated 2d games.
Soundtrack is also consistently great. Throughout the whole game.
With 4 very different characters there's also plenty of reply value and the 1 playthrough will probably range between like 10-15 hours, which is pretty good for a platformer. I'd say 3/4 characters are really fun to play, but I'm not the biggest fan of how Neera plays because she doesn't really have a good way to build up speed and is instead much more combat focused.
TL;DR this game is very good and I think worth your time if you like platformers, its definitely more than just a Sonic Clone.
