I’ve been battling cancer since I was 15, I’m 23 now. I stay at Toby Keith’s foundation’ Kids Korral in OKC every time I go for my appointments since I live 5 hours away in the Oklahoma Panhandle. I got to meet Toby once when I had just gotten out of surgury. I’m forever grateful for his foundation giving me a place for my family and all the families of cancer patients to stay there in OKC.
I was deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2011-2012 and Toby came to Kandahar and gave a concert for the troops. Thank you Toby! God bless you and please recover!

I was a marine deployed in Afghanistan in 2010. I was sleeping after a shift and was woken up by what sounded like live music. It was. Toby Keith flew out to the middle of Afghanistan and did a surprise concert. I thought that was so cool.

My aunt passed away Christmas Day. Yet, she had been a five time cancer survivor. She went through her third and fourth battles in her eighties. God saw fit to take her Home during her fifth and final battle, but she was almost 88. Lucid, loving, and giving everyone their orders to the very end when she gained her true victory. God bless you.

Great interview, Robin. Years ago, I met Toby and gave him a song I had written about my fallen friend, CW3 Donovan Briley, copilot of Super 6-1 (Black Hawk Down). He obviously didn't need songs but was such a gentleman. He accepted the song with grace, looked over the lyric sheet and shook my hand, and said thank you for your service. What a great guy, such class. Back in the early 90s, several of us fans spoke with Toby after his set, where he opened for Aaron Tippin and Pam Tillis in Charleston,SC. I was in the Army for 8 long years, and deployed all over the world. During my second tour in Iraq, I heard that Toby Keith was coming to play a show for us. I could not be more excited as I was a pretty big fan of his up to this point. After a hard , long, grueling day of operations, it was time for a much needed break. It was time for the show. We pulled our Humvees and tanks up and circled the around a small stage made of pallets, with a backdrop made of camo netting. There where no chairs so we either sat in the sand, on the hood of a Humvee, or on the barrel of the tank guns. The sun was starting to set over the desert and Toby Keith and Scotty Emmerick walk out and play our favorite songs. And there couldn't have been more than two hundred of us. In a time of war and despair, this was perfect. I remember watching one of my favorite musicians play my favorite songs while the sun was setting over stage. Perfection. Thank you, Toby, Rest in Peace.
I saw Toby in concert the end of august 2021, when he came on stage he apologized for not being at his best because he had been sick all night and almost didn’t perform. He gave an amazing concert, pushing through what he thought was food poisoning and did not disappoint a soul in the audience! Not long after when I heard he had stomach cancer, I knew that’s why he had been sick and it’s heartbreaking! My roots are in the same soil and he makes me proud to be an okie ! It's heartbreaking to see legends like Toby Keith, Randy Travis, etc. going thru these battles. We know they are human....just like us, and most of them will eventually fight the same battles. Yet it just seems to make it a little more real. We watch people we love suffer and pass from cancer. It is truly a horrible, horrible disease. My dad died from cancer and my mom died from a stroke. Somehow we, in the backs of our minds expect them to overcome most obstacles. Like us, they face them head on. They dont have superhuman strength or abilities.......and like us they face the shortfalls and roadblocks with all the strength they have. May God give them strength and determination to face whatever lies before them.

Don't remember but I am sure it was either stomach, esophageal or pancreatic. She went 100% natural and vegan. Started walking 5 miles everyday. When I say natural I mean all chemicals. Replacing deodorant, toothpaste, shampoo, soap. The woman still lives and is cancer free. The body has the ability to heal itself free from interference.

Toby Keith your awesome ,you can take this or leave it but my wife survived from stage4 cervical cancer and she had to leave the doctors and let God takeover ,doctors told her she had 6 months to live ,that was 10 years ago,the toughest part was the radiation,God's speed to ya!
I knew people like this too..they got off all the poison and went on a strict organic vegan diet. The same person started walking 5 miles a day in addition to the new diet. Still alive today. I couldn't remember but it was a bad one. Stomach, pancreas or esophagus something pretty intense. Your body has within it the capability to heal itself with natural remedies when you rid your system of all chemicals. I mean all. Go natch on the toothpaste, deodorant. Don't take any tylenol or ibuprofen. There is a great pain reliever in nature cannabis and kratom combo. I tore my bicep and shoulder about 7 years ago and this combination gets me through my work day being in intense pain almost constantly. God has provided the Earth with everything we need to survive and heal.

My moma had stomach cancer. She had long dementia & got to where she didnt want to eat. I fed her anyway. A meal took over an hour. Purayed her food. Id gone to bring her home with me & kept her with me 10 years...the last 2 were very rough & broke my heart. She lost apx 80+ lbs. I had angel csregivers while i worked. I was so glad i could do this for her with love. Ur in my prayers Toby. A great singer. Im so glad u know the Lord & He will be with u always.

Great interview, Robin. Years ago, I met Toby and gave him a song I had written about my fallen friend, CW3 Donovan Briley, copilot of Super 6-1 (Black Hawk Down). He obviously didn't need songs but was such a gentleman. He accepted the song with grace, looked over the lyric sheet and shook my hand, and said thank you for your service. What a great guy, such class. Back in the early 90s, several of us fans spoke with Toby after his set, where he opened for Aaron Tippin and Pam Tillis in Charleston,SC. He was so friendly as if he knew us all. So yes, years later, and a superstar, Toby was still a nice guy when I gave him an unsolicited song. Take care, Kirk

I was in the Army for 8 long years, and deployed all over the world. During my second tour in Iraq, I heard that Toby Keith was coming to play a show for us. I could not be more excited as I was a pretty big fan of his up to this point. After a hard , long, grueling day of operations, it was time for a much needed break. It was time for the show. We pulled our Humvees and tanks up and circled the around a small stage made of pallets, with a backdrop made of camo netting. There where no chairs so we either sat in the sand, on the hood of a Humvee, or on the barrel of the tank guns. The sun was starting to set over the desert and Toby Keith and Scotty Emmerick walk out and play our favorite songs. And there couldn't have been more than two hundred of us. In a time of war and despair, this was perfect. I remember watching one of my favorite musicians play my favorite songs while the sun was setting over stage. Perfection. Thank you, Toby, Rest in Peace.

I saw Toby in concert the end of august 2021, when he came on stage he apologized for not being at his best because he had been sick all night and almost didn’t perform. He gave an amazing concert, pushing through what he thought was food poisoning and did not disappoint a soul in the audience! Not long after when I heard he had stomach cancer, I knew that’s why he had been sick and it’s heartbreaking!
My roots are in the same soil and he makes me proud to be an okie !

It's heartbreaking to see legends like Toby Keith, Randy Travis, etc. going thru these battles. We know they are human....just like us, and most of them will eventually fight the same battles. Yet it just seems to make it a little more real. We watch people we love suffer and pass from cancer. It is truly a horrible, horrible disease. My dad died from cancer and my mom died from a stroke. Somehow we, in the backs of our minds expect them to overcome most obstacles. Like us, they face them head on. They dont have superhuman strength or abilities.......and like us they face the shortfalls and roadblocks with all the strength they have. May God give them strength and determination to face whatever lies before them.

I knew people like this too..they got off all the poison and went on a strict organic vegan diet. The same person started walking 5 miles a day in addition to the new diet. Still alive today. I couldn't remember but it was a bad one. Stomach, pancreas or esophagus something pretty intense. Your body has within it the capability to heal itself with natural remedies when you rid your system of all chemicals. I mean all. Go natch on the toothpaste, deodorant. Don't take any tylenol or ibuprofen. There is a great pain reliever in nature cannabis and kratom combo. I tore my bicep and shoulder about 7 years ago and this combination gets me through my work day being in intense pain almost constantly. God has provided the Earth with everything we need to survive and heal.
I was deployed when I saw Toby Keith, and I loved every minute of it. He always came to Afghanistan to perform for the Troops, he is an amazing person, and an amazing artist. My moma had stomach cancer. She had long dementia & got to where she didnt want to eat. I fed her anyway. A meal took over an hour. Purayed her food. Id gone to bring her home with me & kept her with me 10 years...the last 2 were very rough & broke my heart. She lost apx 80+ lbs. I had angel csregivers while i worked. I was so glad i could do this for her with love. Ur in my prayers Toby. A great singer. Im so glad u know the Lord & He will be with u always.
